View Full Version : FAO: Veggies
In this day where Christians are not suppose to eat meat, a question came to my mind that has always bugged me. Why is it ok to eat fish on good friday and ash wensday but not meat, I ask the same question to the vegetarians out there who do so also.
Are fish not living breathing organism theat feel pain?

I think fish not being meat is an old way around the "don't eat meat" rule.

Is the idea of not eating meat on those days not the same as the old idea of not eating meat on Friday? I.e., it's pennance, and since the flesh of fish was not seen as being as good/enjoyable as the flesh of land animals, it's OK to eat fish.
