Just remembered, in 1978 or 79 I won through to an RTE2 phone-in Status Quo competition. My name wasn't read out in the list of winners but RTE still sent me two in thye post??

Tickets were to a Status Quo competition with a load of support bands - Judas Priest, and a few others.

That time Quo were a nifty real rock heavy boogie band before they jumped on the pop rock bandwagon and even the then Quo slaggers were quite surprised by how good they were.

When In school I won £100 (not punts, real pounds) predicting the score of an upcoming Ireland v Wales eggball match - teacher who sold me the ticket was astonished that a follower of The(only true) WORLD game would be (a) interested in buying a ticket and (b) be any way close to predicting the score. I think it was in 1969 or 70 so 100 quid (linked to sterling) was BIG then.
It was a total quess TBH but eggball then, for a very short while, had a live and let live attitude towards footie and who wouldn't support one's local clubs.

I've won other things in fairground draws, raffles, etc etc.

"Bual tú an troid ach bhi an gaire níos deire ag an mac léinn gan gruaig nuair a buail sé an cogadh!".

It's Bhuaigh not Buail. Also the last laugh thing is awful Irish! Sub B standard I would say.

Forgot that I also won a Bangles album on 2FM by accident....I rang in to play a request on the "Hotline" and I said for them to play anything they liked for my mate...but must have been the accent coz the woman taking the call thought I said "The Future's too bright" by the Pyscadellic Furs (?) and that was the song that you had to choose to win the prize! Still have it signed by Tony Fenton!

Almost forgot, I won the half time raffle in Belfield once, Aberdonian Stu won it the following week. That caused some controversy as the two of us were in charge of selling the tickets at the time.

Was that a fabulous watch  :D that you won btw ?.

What stands out from my past is a 'Winners' Rugby plaque in '93 in a team I was only in for half a game... my defo main passion (soccer).. a year later, which I won 'Runners Up' plaque which killed me... lost 1-0 in the final. I felt I was a winner of that too though as I missed an open net in the dyin minutes! Top scorer of the team too... :o

I've won nowt, but my Aunt won an all expenses trip for 4 to every Ireland match in the 6 Nations just finished. That was some prize. They dined with the team after every game, travelled to Paris and London with the families of the team and generally were treated royally. So well deserved also.

Once in a lifetime prize and boy did they enjoy it.

Won 600/700 old Irish pounds worth of drink in a competition run by Cheers Off-Licences a few years ago. I still even remember the lines that won it for me.

I like Cheers because..... it's best for all my favorite beers down through the years.
