Drove up from Dublin for the game, Ramblers won comfortably, Dundalk were so bad it was untrue, have to say Rams did not play all that great but they did not have to, Ramblers should have won by more than the one.
Roll on the next game v Athlone.

Great result for the Rams. What was the pitch like CBG.? Obviously it helped a lot with the lads used to the astroturf here.

Pitch is great, it would suit a team who wanted to play the ball on the ground, for some odd reason the ball was up in the air a lot but the wind was very strong and very very cold. A dundalk fan told me they make around €2k a week renting their pitch out!

From the paper I see there was a few changes. Carey back in defence and Coleman pushed in to his more suited position Midfield. How did he play in midfiled?

Sounds like we should look at something similar, maybe not at St Colmans but at another venue and save on paying someone else to rent astroturf.....would also be good for all underage teams coming thru....

Agree with you Rambler1 it would save a lot of money for the club. Is the surface in Oriel park the same as the new artificial surface in Mayfield park?

Not sure on that DJ, but I know Dundalk surface has passed any UEFA regulations re playing pitches as they got a pro company to install, This would be a massive initial investment as their playing surface is up to UEFA standards but think that we could lookm at slightly lower standard surface with a view to still making that sort of money as €40/hr x 60 hrs week(or more) = a lot of cash in.

Great win for Rams. They need to go on from here and beat Athlone. Its no good winning away up the country and dropping points at home. You need to win the home games if you want to win thge title and get promation.

dead right Rebal Boy, look what happened to us last season, massive results away from home and poor at home ... hoping a lot was learned from last season. There are five teams who can win this league, I reckon it'll be determination and sacrifice that will separate the champions from the rest.

Dave Scully is an absolute professional who demands high standards on and off the pitch, and I think he will have Rovers focused to the point of obsession ... this is what Henderson has to instill in his team also, he has the players that are well capable of winning this league.

The five teams are; Rams, Rovers,Galway,Harps and Dundalk.

His first goal since the 2004 Cup final. Didn't score once for either Waterford or Cork last season.
