17:20 - Fred Winter Juvenile Novices' Handicap Hurdle (Class 1) (Listed Race)
Race Status: Result
1st 9 Shamayoun
2nd 18 Artist's Muse
3rd 10 Patman du Charmil
nowhere near... :(
The first long shot of the week, Shamayoun 40/1.
Overall I'm a bit dissapointed, feel like I left alot of money in the bookies despite being up.
I presume they wont pay out on Ard Eile in 4th .
paddy power and ladbrokes were paying out 1, 2, 3, 4. Hope you backed with them.
Came out ahead for the day. Foreman e/w covered itself and the lay of Racing Demon earned a few quid. In the big one backed Hardy Eustace to place with Betfair and after Sweet wake's rubbish effort, I lumped on Brave Inca. Native Jack was a decent winner too.

Take out the first and last race and I had the winner in each of the other 4! I had 2 horses in 3 of the races but still an excellent day for me.

Betting with Paddy Power. Had three 1st places, 2 second places and a couple placed 3rd and 4th. Overall only lost on two horses. Both in the last race and totally random.

That's exactly who I had so all in all I'm happy even if I'm only up about £20 in total. Normally have a poor start though so I'm encouraged:)
Undecided so far so am open to suggestion. Was thinking of doing a healthy double on Denman and Kauto Star. I know they're short-priced but if they run their race then they should have enough.
I got a "tip" for Sky's The Limit in the 4.00 but having read up on it I'm not sure.
Dempsey looks a value e/w bet at 3.15

I'd quite happily take a loss in that race if Flyer wins it.

My tip for today is an e/w on Fundamentalist in the 3:15. Can be got for 25/1. Has definite potential.
I'm probably not worth listening to though as i didn't have a single winner yesterday.

Amazing how many feel this way. Agreat great horse.
Anyway here's todays early selections;
2.00 - Denman win.
2.35 - Commercial Flyer win
3.15 - Dempsey e/w (also like Watson Lake e/w)
4.00 - 2 miles west e/w
4.40 - Underwriter e/w
5.20 - Equus Maximus win

I like most of those but Fota Island in the 3.15, just one of those horses that has always pulled it out for me and Liberthine in the 4.40. I haven't got anything for the 4.00 so might leave that off if Denman doesn't win.

3.15: Stats can play a very big part in this race as it eliminates quite a few, firstly it was 1977 since the last 12 year old won this race so that puts big doubts on Moscow Flyer. It was 1973 since the last 6 year old won this race so that puts big doubts on Kauto Star. 17/21 have won at the festival or been placed at worst so that puts another cross to Kauto Star. The other stat that totally bowls Kauto Star over is that 21 from the last 22 have won over further than two mile of have won over course and distance previously which Kauto Star hasn’t done. The other two main stats are that 23 of the last 24 have come from the first three in the betting and 14 from the last 15 have saw the horses being rated 160 plus. So considering all those stats the only one left if Fota Island as he won at the festival last year, has won over further and he’s in the first three in the betting
Denman beaten pretty easily into second by Nicanor, great ride by Carberry and he won well. The bookies cleaned up on that one so they wont be too defensive for the day.

Another favourite loses..
I think betting in-play is the only way to go .. I lost on Commercial Flyer, but backed the winner at 2.5 somewhere near the end of the race ... ("watching" it on betfair) so it covered my losses.

But did you actually watch the race? 2 fell at the second last. I'd be far more inclined to lay horses from watching the race than back them.

in work so can't stick the race up on the screen (if I could even find a live link),
this will sound daft, but watching the inplay prices on betfair during the race ... when a horse goes to 1000 then its obviously fallen.. and usually there are two or three horses at around odds of 2 to 6 near the end of the race... sort of narrows everything down. Not exactly going to be rich with this method, but I've been backing the wrong horses before every race up to now.

The bookies are having a field day today.
As for me - not a single winner for the festival. Think I'll cut my losses and stop.
At least thelay of Kauto star made me something (even if it brought down Dempsey)

Forgot I put a fiver e/w on Newhill on Monday for the laugh cos I know the owner. Get in there!! AP came second for me on Fota so I need Sweeney to come in the top four for a yankee to come in. Great day again, up a few hundred over the two days.
I need Liberthine to win here or I've rightly screwed up my opening 2 days.

Colman Sweeney reckons his ride Blue Business is his best of the week, I've had money on My way de Solzen for a long time. The only bet I'll do today is a double on those 2. Shocking racing today, make small bets if any at all. save it for the Beef tomorrow....

Solzen might need a bit of rain though Clifford would he? Probably going for Golden Cross myself.
I like Tumbling Dice in the first at 18/1 and Napolitain at 4.00 at 8/1 but agree with you that it's the worst day of the week so I might just do small bets on some outsiders.

Blue business was absolutely destroyed by commercial flyer (who had a 'mare yesterday) last time out.
Todays first thought picks;
2.00 Cornish Sett
2.35 Sir Oj
3.15 Golden Cross
4.00 Graphic Approach
4.40 Mr. Babbage
5.20 Oulart
Small stakes each way...

Drink, it might need rain all right, but I'm in so deep I'd be gutted now if I changed and it won....always go wit first instinct.
Dodge, with regard to Blue business, I had no knowledge of him, but I play squash with Colman and he's looking forward to the ride. It's a bet of heart not head, but should give me a run for my money.

I know what you mean, changing my mind has cost me a few times and I still don't seem to learn considering I fancied Noland on Tuesday but went for Sweet Wake after I saw everybody else tipping it:D
