No he is not a red, hes Man U red, huge difference, starting with 5 European Cups and 18 Leagues.
Neville encompasses all that is wrong with Man U. His "Everyone hates us" mentality is so last century, even Keane got fed up with it.
Fair play to Man U for winning a dreadful game, sure its about all they can win this season........

Not a great game at all summed up by a goal from the laziest player on the pitch, the palarse/reading game on Friday was much better.
Had an agruement with a friend of mine over Rooney's tackle near the end on Pongelle, i thought yellow, he said red, what do ya's think ? He's point was that he went in with his foot off the ground, but i pointed out that Gerrard did the very same on Evra.
It was'nt a dirty game but there could of been a few Red cards on another day.
Did Finnan foul Evra for the free-kick that lead to the goal ? IMO yes.
Absolutely shocking game of football thou, United's midfield was none existant but did ok considering that they had no central midfielders actually playing, Liverpool's strikers are pure muck, How Cisse stayed on the pitch for as long as he did is beyone me !
Being a STH i was lucky enough to witness this terrible game overall but if you don't take your chance/s the end result is what happened. Utd being without a few regulars worked in their favour and though i thought Liverpool were better credit were credit is due Man U kept going til the end. I thought it would have been harsh to award red on Rooney and also i thought the Finnan foul was a foul. Was disppointed we didn't have more of a go but that's the way it goes.

Anyone got a clip of Gary Neville at the end? Priceless.
Pool were the better but United had the more chances and were finishing much stronger. Giggs and Rooney carried the midfield, Rooney is getting better and better all the time.
Rio had his best game for United and that was before he scored. And as for the maestro Benitez, terrible sub late on, was caught cold for the goal. Persisting with Cisse and taking off Crouch, and leaving Gerrard on the right when hes far superior in the middle or in an attacking role.
Poor game overall though.
Persisting with Cisse and taking off Crouch
Crouch went off injured

the funniest piece was him grabbing the left side of his jersey to kiss the crest and then realising the crest is in the middle. plonker.
I feel asleep in the 2nd half zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Would'nt say that would have bothered him that much in fairness, 3 points and all that business against your biggest rivals.....
Personally i think if fans give out constent abuse then they should be able to take it back
I agree but if a fan did what Neville did we'd all be calling for them to be banned & calling them all sorts etc etc

As a Liverpool fan who was forced to listen to the last 10 minutes on the radio I was outraged at Nevilles display as described by Alan Greens commentary. Having seen it today it was nothing. To be expected.
And much as I was delighted to see Robbie celebrate in front of the Mancs last week, you have to turn around and take it on the chin.
When they say football is a funny old game ,they really do mean it.

.
gerrard did more from the right position in the first half than he did from the central position 2nd half. sissoko out wide doesnt work...he looks to go backwards most of the time.
rooney is a smashing player but he really annoyed me the way he was constantly mouthing to the ref after every tackle liverpool made.
i thought man us reaction to their goal and the other garbage that went on smacked of desperation. another false dawn for the fallen.

Have to admit if it did remind me of the 2-2 in anfield a few years back where pool equalised late on. Tables have turned now and united are the ones with little to play for this season.
Still think united will be back soon enough if they can get in a few decent midfielders.

is there any truth to the rumuors he shouted that he'd "prefere to have aids than be a scouser" to the liverpool fans :D

Both United and Liverpool are still in contention for 2 trophys each, United with the FA and Carling Cups and Liverpool with the Champions League and FA Cup.
Unless Chelsea implode then neither club have a chance of winning the premiership.
United are 4 points ahead of Liverpool in the Premiership.
Both clubs are roughly on par.

I think what Elroy means is that Liverpool have improved to Man U's level now which means as you said they are both on a par.

i was having a debate at work about this - have liverpool improved that much in the last couple of years, or have united dropped down so much in standard to liverpools level.
i reckon united have been in decline since the treble, but only truly noticeable in the last three seasons. there is a massive amount of team building to get them back anywhere near title contenders.
liverpool, i reckon are riding their momentum at the moment (a brilliant run - just like united around jan to march last year), but will still finish about 5-10 points off united this season. however, long term they do look like the only team that could stop chelsea over the next few seasons

I dont support either team but I dont see anything wrong with either celebration. Neville did not leave the pitch, If he did what robben did to the opposing fans that would be a different story. Neville is loved by Man Utd Supporters and hated by Liverpool supporters and Gerrard and Carragher are loved by Liverpool supporters and hated by Man Utd Fans. We can all see the commong theme between all 3 players.

Neville and Carragher would be much more similar, both born and bread fans of the teams that they play for, always have been and always will be. Gerrard on the other hand was an Everton fan growing up ;)

Was Gerrard not an Everton mascot in his youth no? There are photos of him as a kid decked out in his Everton gear posing with the FA Cup trophy anyway.

Strange that, the picture of him decked out in the full Everton gear, head to toe, says different. Kept a copy, ill try get it scanned and post it

The Liverpool manager blamed the ref! Disappointed because I didn't think he came from the Souness, Ferguson, Warnock etc "we are never beaten except by the referee" school of management. Funny how the game hinged on the two incidents at the end. Liverpool had a free kick and Gerrard wasted it. Man U had one from a similar position at the other end and scored.
Awful game. If Man U lost Rooney I am not sure they'd be much better than a UEFA place team.

the guardian's fiver's take on neville:
http://football.guardian.co.uk/fiver/
WANTED: DEAD OR MAIMED
Mr Gary Neville, 30, is wanted by police in connection with a serious incident near Manchester's Trafford DevilBowl on Sunday afternoon. Neville was caught on CCTV committing the recently outlawed activity of displaying passion during a football match. His conduct was an affront to the mature sensibilities of enlightened, right-thinking persons who had endeavoured to build bridges between the cities of Manchester and Liverpool during the game by singing hymns such as: "Are you watching Georgie Best?" and "Who's that dying on the runway?" Police would also like to question Mr Neville in connection with the suspicious death of a whale in the London area.
Mr Neville is of average height and appearance and is distinctive only through whispy facial b*mfluff and an extremely irritating voice. He should not be approached under any circumstances, especially in tunnels in the Highbury district of London when a Mr Royston Keane is in the vicinity. When found guilty, Neville will be put in front a firing squad consisting of Djibril Cisse and a tall man resembling "Timmah!" from South Park - his prospects of survival are rated "very good".
Gissagong FC defender Sir James Carragher CBE has fully endorsed the manhunt. "There is a line and Neville crossed it," opined the calm, rational figure that famously threw a coin at Highbury spectators in 2002 and held five fingers up to Rowdies supporters after the two sides drew 0-0 in September. "I've heard people say it's justified because he gets a lot of stick from the Gissagong fans, but he gets the stick because he's been doing that for years," Sir Jamie continued before possibly concluding: "Look at me when I banged in two at the wrong end for United against Liverpool in 1999: I didn't celebrate then, did I eh? Eh? Eh?"
FBI sources have confirmed that Hollywood star Keanu Reeves is being questioned over allegations that he has incited every single gun-related crime since filming The Matrix in 1999. But reports that a black armband-endorsed minute's silence will be held for a dead whale before Gissagong FC's next home game are as yet unconfirmed.

This investigation was called off when it conspired that the whale in question was not Frank Lampard as first hoped. :D
Wasn't a great game technically but found it intriguing none the less. Someone already made the point about the two freekicks in the last minute. The delivery of the ball was all the difference between three points and one. A good win for United but everyone's playing for second at this stage - (or 4th if your a Gooner like me!:( )

Spoke to two friends of mine last night in Huyton (Stevie G's home town) not that i needed to but anyway he is red and always has been. At one stage when he was a young lad his uncle (A Blue) tried to get him to put an Everton jersey on but he point blank refused (this is an alleged story)!!!! He also had trials with a couple of clubs to see what they had to offer one which included Everton so more than likely the photo may have come then but he is, was and always will be a red.

Gerrard was always a red, but he did admit himself that he had both kits when he was a kid. There was never an issue as regards his allegiances though.
I thought it was great to see Gary Neville celebrate in the manner he did. It just shows the grudging respect he has for the European Champions. He, like everybody else, is waking up to the fact that United will be trailing in Liverpool's wake before long.

is it true or a myth that rooney wore everton gear whilst on trial at liverpool??

that pic of gerrard isnt him, as far as i know it is just some scouse kid they all look the same at that age with there big round scouse head s !!! .
the pic originated from bluekipper an everton fans site which has a section to funny stuff ( there is one of that guy with all the badges all over him liverpool fan and the caption is carlsberg dont make gob****es but if they did they'd be the biggest gob****es in the world ) .
rooney turned up to the liverpool trials in a everton kit they freaked out because it was being filmed but he refused to wear a liverpool kit , ive seen the vid its quite funny all these red jerseys running around after this little kid in a blue kit taking the **** out of them all , think he is about 8 in it .
utd fans amaze me with there stupidness they sing we hate scousers followed by rooney rooney
nearly as bad as liverpool fans complaining about celebrations and nasty tackles and long balls when there the worst offenders .

No doesn't make a difference but the fact he is he grew up following Liverpool. Why would he not say he followed Everton if he did sure Carragher, Rush, Owen etc all grew up following Everton and freely say so. I honestly don't think he go into such detail of favourite players, games he's been to etc if he was an Evertonian.
Just to get back on track
Watched MOTD2 highlights last night and in the end the late substitution cost Liverpool. Kromkamp was meant to be marking Rio but dawdled and lost him in the crowd and we all know what happened next.

Spot on i actually thought both him and Finnan could have prevented the free kick in the first place but i wouldn't be overly critical of Finnan as been boss again this season.
