Well to be honest I never knew the politics of why they left the league so I cant really comment on it.
It shouldn't be done anyway. Thats my point.

Am not attacking CHF for getting into the league. It was the league clubs at the time who voted them in who are to blame.
KOH
Guys - PLEASE try to understand the history of what happened. There was NO vote to accept Harm Farm Evertoin into the league as a new team in 1995. Seery registered them as a name change - that's all.
Therefore, there was nothing for the league clubs to vote on !! They DIDN'T vote them in !!

I know I really shouldn't add to this silly thread but...
The entity now known as Dublin City... (Ronan Seery... decided to go it alone as Home Farm Everton) was established at this pointSo is Continuity Home Farm Everton an acceptable nickname then?
NY Hoop: There are no country clubs looking to enter the league to replace anyone. Mayo and Kerry's teams are reducing their involvement in the last couple of years.

How do you know that for sure? Also I only gave those 2 as examples.

Excatly - you just don't know.
For a start, the 2 Mullingar teams (Athletic and Town) have made noises in the past about joining, and Athletic went up-against Kildare County for the slot in 2003. How do you know they're still not interested 3yrs later ?
Would you have thought anyone wanted to join the league in 2003 ? I bet not. But when the chance arose, 2 clubs did. So why are you so confident now ?
There was an article in the Derry Journal at Christmas about a consortium of local businessmen who want to see senior football in Letterkenny (consistently Ireland's, and one of Europe's, fastest growing towns). They'd rather do it by relocating Finn Harps - but as Harps seem intent upon staying in a village in the middle of nowhere, they are prepared to go it alone instead with a fresh application to the league if required. Reportedly they're now looking at relocating Fanad United - a highly successful junior club- to Letterkenny as part of their strategy in this.
How can you be so sure that there aren't clubs interested ? The above suggests that there is, and you never really know until you ask....

Well Mayo have no uder 21 team anymore so that would be an indication that they may not be interested in joining the eL!

Here's an idea, why don't NY Hoop and DCFCSteve put a proposal together and try and run the eL themselves? They obviously know so much about how the league and other clubs should be run. I know that I and many more of my pompous, self reighteous sh1t blowing friends would be more than happy to elect them. Soon the league could have such a wonderful fixture list, containing mouth-watering ties like Shamrock Rovers Vs Derry City, Derry City Vs Shamrock Rovers, Rovers Vs Bohs, Bohs Vs Rovers, Derry City Vs Duine Eile, Mulingar Under 12's Vs Shelbourne, Mayo League Ladies Vs St Pats etc
Two focking geniuses we have on our hands here lads...
Bring it on. We'll always be there as we've proven year in year out.

you haven't been in the first division . we'll see how many supporters you have next year.

We sure will.
Here's a bet for you, we'll have higher home attendances than you next season and we'll bring waaaaaaay more to away games than you do. A bet I'd be very confident of winning because it doesn't matter what division Dublin City are in no one gives a flying one. Our hardcore, on the other hand, will be there week in week out.

what would shams fans expect their average attendance to be next year? 2004 was our worst season for 17 years&we had spent 5 years in hell&our average was about 1800 last year. and we had fantastic away support all season. on 4-5 occasions we had about 400. will the most famous club in ireland top that??

i dont know who these shams are, but Rovers will probably have a similar home 'core' support. 1800 is probably a bit high, cant see many away fans, except possibly dundalk, but our away support should be more impressive than that, especially the sexy overnights like galway and kilkenny.

1. I don't enjoy watching football in grounds with small attendences and consequently poor atmosphere. If I did, I'd watch games in the local park more often as its cheaper. That's a reasonable opinion to hold, but it is completly seperate from saying that a club has no history.

Well - Dublin City are themselves the ones trying to deny/erase their history...!

Proposed and seconded.
From my point of view I've lost 3 games a year against 2 teams (Harps and Rovers) who I genuinely get excited about playing against. Big crowds home and away, great atmosphere, basically everything Dublin City isn't, and more importantly, shows no sign of ever being.
The last time we played Dublin City in Tolka was the most soul-destroyingly boring game of my life. Indeed I remember highlighting at the time, on these very pages, the instance of two friends conducting a conversation, one in the Ballybough end and one in the Riverside stand.
Whilst I like many fans am fully aware Seery FC deserve their place in the League, don't expect me to like it or welcome it in any way.

I prefer this one :
Dublin City fans are the Eircom League's eqivalent of Luke Skywalker in 'The Empire Strikes Back' - dangling over the edge of a precipice whilst refusing to accept the factual reality that Home 'Darth Vadar' Farm is their parent.... :)

I agree. Making this ten pages would be silly. Rovers to stay down & go out of existence. :p

You know, it never dawned on me that some peole have to go on away trips to likes of ICBINHF and UCD, even worse when ICBINHF were playing on a thursday. My hate for them was purely selfish but now I see it was for the good of mankind.
well you won't have to worry about playing us for a long time.:p
