Undisclosed fee .... i hope that it turns out to be half decent, i do have faith in Shels to ask a proper price ... just hope it is not misplaced.
It is up to clubs to sort themselves out and nail down proper contracts for players. They HAVE TO start demanding decent money.
One thing about all of this is that player now can see the possiblies when signing for an eL club so clubs have more leighway when getting them to sign contracts. It is in their interest to demand more from the players in the contracts.

reality check. the transfer is dependent on what the player earns and whats left on his contract.
from a personal point of view it is a great move for wesso. he was going nowhere fast at shels and his ambition is obviously to play at a higher level than the EL. first serious transfer offer for wes coincides with shels being desperate for cash.
if anyone thinks that a move to the SPL is a bad one for an EL player they need to stop looking through those tinted glasses.
at a league wide level its a pity shels dont appear to have the ambition to hang onto any of their 'stars' at the moment.

Roverstillidie, how do you know we didn't try to hang onto them. You will find Wes is very welcome to stay with Shels.

crowe, byrne and now wes all touted for sale? thats not a policy?
if you had decided to keep him the word you should have used was 'no'. im sure he was welcome, but you are broke after years of overspending, hence your 3 most marketable players being punted around and about 10 players being released.

Rubbish. Wes has a certain period of time on his contract left. If he was resolute in leaving, you get a fee for him rather than lose him to a free transfer. Thats Wes.
Jason has gone no where yet and once again same as above applies.
Crowe is going no where and I'd expect better than you believing tabloid rumour!!! As for 10 players released? eh who? We released some players that were on loan and surplus to requirement.
so basically your post is utter drivel :) And next time I see you, don't kill me :) hehe

so its not because you are broke and are getting the high earners off your books and signalling the end of your 'galactacos' policy?
and i promise nothing on the slaps front :D

nah its not cos of that, but I could understand your thinking behind it.
Slaps I can handle, digs probably not :) You seen me I'm a small fry :) the bohs lads could take me sure :)

Farewell Wes, I'm devestated but life goes on. God I hate the state this league is in at the moment, when one of our best young talent leaves for a Scottish relegation battle for next to peanuts.
Its very similar to the Doyle situation (minus "the clause") but Reading are a better club than Livingston ever will be.
Oh lord, I'm depressed.

Undisclosed but a couple of reports suggesting ~£100k with clauses. Pathetic really.
All thats left is for Wes to agree personal terms. A formality methinks.

Undisclosed but a couple of reports suggesting ~£100k with clauses. Pathetic really. It's disgraceful that the EL is losing such a talent to a crap club in the SPL, especially for that figure. This has got to be sorted out ASAP:mad:.
How much is Byrne moving to Sweden for?.
MrJoeSoap
30/12/2005, 12:35 AM
It seems to be stalling or on hold at the moment, but its around 400k I think. Possibly a bit more. If it goes through that is.

30/12/2005, 12:36 AM
Whatever about Daryl Murphy, Kevin Doyle or Jason Byrne, if Hoolahan is sold for €250,000 the league should simply be dissolved.
What about £100k with a few clauses thrown in?

Or has someone within Shelbourne been alerting clubs to their availability for financial reasons?
I suspect Mr. Revenue Commissioner will be relieving Shels of the whole of that £100k early in the New Year.

A fee has been accepted its just up to Wes to agree terms . I saw in another thread where someone said that Wes would like to give English Football another try. Can somepne tell me what English club he was with before cos i wasnt aware he was ever with one?
Terms will be agreed, of that I have no doubt. Best of luck to Wesley, and I hope to one day see him in the green of Ireland, and fingers crossed back in Shelbourne red.
He was never in England before, IIRC been at Shels since 15, the quote wherever it is should read that he wants to give it a try, not one more try.

I'd be amazed, his lack of pace will always hold him back at the top level

€140,000 is a pathetic sum. Im bitterly disapointed to see Weso go for such a measly sum. I think the league will continue to get bad hits like this with our current state in Europe, i.e making progress that other clubs are intrested in our players but not breaking into the group stages to make a decent transfer fee.
The sooner we can sell players for respectable sums of money the better. We have given too many top players away this season for peanuts.

I think people underestimate his pace. He's not lightning fast by any means but he certainly ain't no slouch. Plus, his touch and skill give him a few yards on any defender.

The Irish team is not the top level. Fourth from top level if our seedings are to be believed. Wes should already have 10 or so caps if our manager wasn't too stupid to pick him and instead favoured any old idiot in his place so long as they played in England.
The fee is a joke but it is just speculation, the truth is he only had a year in his contract so our hands were somewhat tied. Still, it's an awful move for him personally.

I'd stay Wes went for a bit more than 100,000. If I was to say speculate a little.

Do schoolboy clubs get 10% of the total transfer fee? Could someone please fill me in because it's been doing my head in the past number of days!!

Here's a bit more insight from Hoolahan on his move. It starts off with him talking about Keane but he talks a little about the move further down. He said playing under Paul Lambert was a motivating factor for him.
Hoolahan became aware of Livi's interest four weeks ago and the prospect of lining up against his boyhood heroes was too much to turn down, even though Shelbourne boss Pat Fenlon reckons his side are better than Livi and that his former player is taking a step backwards by quitting Irish football for life in the SPL.
Interesting to see scots print that.

In this article Weso states - "The fact that Shelbourne are not in the Champions League was maybe something". In other words he may have stayed if we did win the league!!
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/scottishpremier/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/06/01/03/SOCCER_Livingston_Nightlead.html&TEAMHD=scotspremiership
And in this article Weso states - "They are playing in the Intertoto Cup this season but even if they had the chance to play in the Champions League I wouldn't have stayed".
Very contrasting quotes indeed!
He seems he only moved to Livi just to play against the Old Firm. He's thinking way ahead of himself - he is hoping he will get spotted. If he doesn't get spotted then he is off to division one. Terrible terrible move Weso!!!

You make it sound like having a desire to play at arenas like Ibrox and Celtic Park is something to be ashamed of. He clearly enjoyed the experience at the Riazor and would like to do something of the sort again. It's no harm to have the confidence to display yourself on the big stage. Also given that he knows Lambert he knows that he was a very cultured and intelligent midfielder who won the European Cup and can teach him a lot about his game.
Sorry for repeating myself but Lambert sees him as a winger, outdide left, whatever you want to call it. He's not quick enough!!

I agree but maybe will be easier in the SPL ;)
IMO Fenlon sold him as didn't see him as winger & could not find place for him in the centre.
