emm his criticisms were never aired.
so we dont know for sure exactly what he said.
and I know a lot of things were batting around and the consensus seems to be he said certain things, I just remember when we were hearing what was supposedly said in saipan about him questioning MaCarthys Irishness which turned out to be wide of the mark. A lot of initial reports seem to throw Liam Millers name into the mix just cause people thought he was a failure at man u but I never saw one quote about miller.

emm his criticisms were never aired.so we dont know for sure exactly what he said. When I said 'airing' them, I did not mean in the TV context. We all air views, they do not have to be broadcast to be aired. And you can be sure that if any of them were not true, there would be legal teams and injunctions flying around to beat the band.....

so after an embarresing 4-1 defeat to boro you want you captain to come out and say nothing bad about the team !?!? in case it hurts there feelings ? maybe he should have said its not the winning its the taking part that counts.

keane was dead right to say it and lets not forget he has probibly been saying it in private for weeks but no one listened , and how can you argue with the results it got from players like smith in the chelsea game .

and also note the performance level has dropped back down to the way it was before the outburst since he left .

Yeah, that performance v Lille was really down to the outburst I'd say. Or does it not count?

You can be as critical as you like, provided its constructive, not destructive.Keanes rants were quire dsetructive, with a hidden agenda. While I agree with the content of his criticisms, I cannot see how airing them in the manner in which he tried can be construed as any way helpful to anyone.

i think what has been forgotten is they asked him to go on the show to give expert comments on the game , they played rubbish got beaten by boro they asked for his opinion what was he supposed to do lie ??

the majority of people here complain about the experts on the english tv channels that never speak there mind , when one does he is out of line for speaking his mind.

i just wish more players would be that honnest ,

btw Giles is the biggest spoofer of the three of them.
Agree with that. He doesn't seem to do any research and just tries to wing it when talking about teams he doesn't know.

eamon dunphy is really pathetic...brady mentioned certain journalists have helped keane, dunphy took it personally, maybe brady was trying to rise him...he reacted anyway and showed just how much he would love to be roy keanes arse buddy...

the attack on niall quinn....it had nothing to do with saipan..dunphy just cant leave it alone...

roy keane being called a thug

well now i think the haaland incident was the work of a thug...and "stick it up your bol...." to mc carthy wasnt very nice was it...roy keane has many characteristics of a thug and bill o herhily was only quoting yer man.....

if he wants to talk about running away with a young one...personally i think being drunk on tv and drink driving is more of crime....and so was giving him a chat show

...i enjoyed that

Excellent stuff - I agree 1000%

Completely lost the plot. The man can't hold a resonable debate on his views at all. Don't waste my time on any thing he has to say......slates other gutter journalists and then makes one inaccurate & personal comment after another.

What's more worrying is the people who will quote this legend's tripe to me as fact in the coming weeks!

At least on the 'Roy For Manager' thread you can 'kinda sorta' make an argument for Roy as manager based on his footballing achievements. The argument for Dunphy as an analyst however is a no brainer. Great TV maybe but totally unprofessional and am embarrassed for the man.:o

Nice one for that clip...was in work last night and was ranging cos I missed it.....dunphy is a spoon with a big spoon head and is obviously trying to get RMK into bed or something...brady and giles are both gentlemen...Wasn't as big an argument as some have made out but still a bit of a laugh. poor poor Nial I wonder is he in tears again....

Kiberd was annoying me, so chanced upon Dunphy on Joe Duffy. Apologised outright to Rod Liddle and said he was out of order, which is more than most of the big men that constantly slate him would have the balls to do if they were in the wrong.

Giles, as Schumi says, just makes it up as he goes along. Ask him something off the cuff, as I've heard on newstalk, and he just hasn't a clue. Christ he doesn't even know the players most of the time.

The only reason I watch RTE's football is to laugh at the man. Is there a bigger plonker on TV in this island?

[QUOTE=anto1208]and why do you know quinn gave a million to charity because he went on every show he could get on to tell every one , you dont hear about keane because he does nt brag about it .

That comment is out of order. NQ had announced his intentions with the money long before the media got hold of it. The TV made it into the story that it became trying to promote the 'good side of the professional footballer'. When it became apparent how much money could be raised using this sort of advertising he was hardly likely to turn down TV appearances to promote the charity.

Making people aware of a charity is not something that should be dismissed lightly.

Fair Point.
Does this mean the pressure is now on Roy to see what he does with the proceeds of his testimonial ?

have to say it was about time someone put it up to brady about the double standards he has with regards the way arsenal have been carrying on. would have been interesting to hear his response if only bill would have shut up about some irrelevant article.
As for Dunphy, even with Brendan Courtney I dont think TV3 will ever get as big a queen as eamo!

I agree I think Brady and Dunphy are as bad as each other on this other. The only difference is that Dunphy shouts and rants. Brady talk rubbish in relation to Keane just as much as Dunphy does. To Dunphy Keane can do no wrong and to Brady Keane can do no right. Their is a bitterness there towards Man Utd and Keane and he lets it influence his views. At least Giles is equally bitter towards all teams. He was quote recently as saying that he gets no joy from great football as thats they way the game should be played but he gets annoyed by bad football. I dont think Giles has enjoyed anything in 30 years.

I think one of the biggest proglems with this Keane thing is that nobody knows what keane said about the players.

However these are the facts

He was asked by MUTV to go on to Play the Pundit. It was a game that Man Utd lost 4-1. The showed never aird. It is presumed that this was to do what Keane had said on the show but this has never been confirmed.

In addition Van Nistelroy and Smith, Beckham O Shea have all supported him over the comments. None of the players have had a pop back at him. The majority of the fanzines and supporters of Man Utd have backed Keane over this. People who go week in week out to Old Trafford have been having a go at O Shea and Fletcher and Ferdinand for weeks. In my view Keane knew that he was going out the door in the summer and did this cause he loves Man Utd and he also knew it would be a way that they had to show him the door but also he would still go down as a legend at Utd. I think he loves the club so much that he was hurting cause of the players I have mentioned above attitude.

Wrong. He is a gutless coward. Whenever he is confronted face to face with someone he has castigated, he almost sticks his head up their a*se in humility and fawns all over them. When I used to listen to him on the Last Word, some of his interviews were cringingly embarrassing with people he had previously attacked. Pathetic.

As for Neill saying Giles hasn't enjoyed anything for 30 years, he admitted to being emotional at the end of the 1-0 over Holland (remember the one when Dunphy said it was a great achievement for Mick Mc to get this Irish team to Korea/Japan) and was actually happy. Other than that he seldom shows his emotions.

Brady has always acknowledged the greatness of Keane as a player. What he has given him stick over is his behaviour and there are lots of people who would support him there.

What about the clip from when Robbie Keane equalised against Germany? Giles jumped out of his seat! I think it was nominated by RTE as one of their moments of the tournament

Never saw that :(

Saw Andy Townsend doing the same thing on ITV though :D Not bad for someone whom many wouldn't regard as Irish.
