And the other against summerville...Just thought i'd mention that!!!

You have some nerve to mention that after the footballing lesson we gave ye last Sunday!!!! (Wonder would ye have beaten us that day if we had a keeper???)

I didn't mention it because everybody on this site know's Summerville are the only Limerick team to beat Star Rovers in all competitions this year as you have mentioned enough times already.

balla b are not dropping out of the league, john cusack is taking them over, but he'll find it hard to field a team with all these players after leaving:

eddie wallace, martin meehan, colm ryan & colm o mahony all signed with shelbourne

kieth odonnell, johnny gaynor & david kelly just no interest anymore

and there could be a few more signing for other clubs

Dave Kelly is signing with Shelbourne as well

Balla B look like they are in serious trouble.

Shelbourne have done well out of it though. Are they in 1B? Anyone one know if they are going for promotion.

1B is wide open this season. Anyone who puts a run of wins together could win it. Given the player's signed Shelbourne would have an excellent chance. Heard they brought back one or two from Hill Celtic aswell but not sure. Prospect have resigned Aiden Ryan and Dromore have signed Mike Ahern from Fairview. All that should have an effect on who joins ye lot in 1A next year.

ha ha, we'll see

It took you this long to admit that you agree with me about Star going up!!!
When we go up we'll do a better job than Mungret and Hill Celtic are doing of it this year.

When are you gonna give us credit??

Our overall record in all competitions this season is
PL 17 Won 14 Drew 1 Lost 2 (one of which was the last 32 of the FAI).......

When is your blip going to come abbeyvale it wont go on forever and when star are stuck in 1A next year premier will be a distant memory

Star,Corbally,H'town and Balla to win

Predictions:

Star,
Corbally,
Herbertstown,

Think balla and abbey could be a draw or an abbey win.

Depends on what team balla have with all their players leaving. This is Abbeys chance to get out of relegation. Win and they are only 5 points off Balla.

Correct, but remember Abbey have 2 more games played that Balla.

So even if Abbey do win they will be 5 points behind with 7 games to go where as Balla will have 9 games to go.

If Abbey lose they will be 11points behind with 2 games played more.

Can't see them clawing back that difference, so they might get a draw!!

Ya if Balla win then that is definitly it for Abbey. Thats why I think Abbey could win this one. They know they must win whereas Balla probably dont even know if they will have 11 players.

The majority of the Abbey players left because of two reasons.

1) Change in manager

2) The majority of the "A" players were not asked to sign by the new manager.

You could hardly blame them for leaving

If ye really wanted to sign for them ye could have surely went and asked the manager for a form. If he said no then fair enough.

How often do you see players approaching clubs for forms?? Not very often...

If Abbey had any ambition for this year they would have signed (or at least asked) all of last years Premier side to re-sign for the club again this year and add a few other players to the squad.

Unfortunatly that did not happen and Abbey have nobody to blame for that but themselves!!!!

Im not saying ur to blame or anythin for abbeys situation. Im just saying if the players really wanted to sign for them they would have went to the club and got a form themselves.

Players approach clubs for forms if they want to play for them.

Bottom line here is, Abbey showed no desire to gain promotion when they installed their "B" manager from the year before to manage the "A" team.

If they had any hopes of staying in Div 1A or trying to gain promotion back to the Prem then they would have got a good manager, and not take they easy way out by appointing who they did.

1. First of all they did approach Walla but he couldnt commit due to shift work.

2. They did approach some players from last season's squad but not ALL of them.

3. Those "some players" that left Geraldines would be Len O'Grady, Derek Hannon, Alan Morton & Ger Collopy, all of whom gave at least 15 years service each to Geraldines (mostly in Div 1A),,,,,,
so how can you say that they left when things WENT WRONG?????
How much more wrong can it get,,, being stuck in Div 1A year after year with only 4 or 5 players turning up for training and struggling to field a team on a Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. If Pa Boland stays on as manager I for one will be staying with Star (pormotion or not)!!!!!

Hi all...

have been enjoyin the jibes on here for awhile now but took a while to get registered...

So, what does everyone think of the standard in 1A?
Is it higher or lower than other years?

This is my first proper season in it, only played around 2 or 3 games last time round.

Bishop
02/02/2006, 4:21 PM
The best thing about 1A is that so many of the teams are of a similar standard that the league is generally a close run thing.....

Much quicker game than 1B but still a huge jump up to Premier.....

star and corbally to get promoted summerville and caherdavin outside bet wembley to come about fifth we have to beat corbally sunday for any chance came 3rd last 3 years always seems to be 2 teams better than us no chance of promotion cause we had better teams over the last 3 years. lost players to premier and our whole u17 national cup winning side are either plying premier or playing with limerick, so star will walk the league unless we beat corbally sunday were in trouble
