I felt like that once (Euro 96) and cheered them on until I was accused of being a glory-grabber (by a group of England supporters, I might add). After that, I vowed never to bother following them again.

Anyone but England for WC2006. I don't really care who.

No way do i want England to win anything. My God if they win the World Cup we will hear about it for the next 50 years look, at 66 and they still go on about it. One think for sure is,if any of the nations that they get beaten by have bars in their little community in uk they will be shells after they are throught with them.Come on The Ukraine.

Whats all this negativity against the english? You would swear they had done us some misfortune in the past................!!
Although to be fair, my own bias against them is based more on how thw media portrays them (world beaters one minute, turnip heads the next) than the team itself. I always find it hard to understand how Irish football fans can feel so differently about players depending on whether they are playing for their club or their country. Especially when the game doesnt influence the Irish side. If anything, a successful English side would probably benefit Irish football at both club and international level
It's called hypocrisy and the Irish are excellent at it :D

I take it the quare one won't be reading this then;) . I think Sweden and possibly the Czech Republic, both of whom seem to have the highest amount of good looking fans - a descision came to after a long debate in Raffs (RIP) between Sylvo and myself during Euro 2004. Actually better not let Mrs O' B to read this!

ESPN/ABC will be showing ALL the games, also in HD. It's a far cry nowadays over here compared to when I moved here first 13 years ago. There was never any footie on TV back then, now I've got the Fox Soccer Channel, GOL TV and Setanta USA showing soccer all the time every day plus the odd game on other channels such as ESPN and CCSTV (College sports). Satellite TV is great!

Would like to see Japan win the world cup meself (I know a slight bit unlikely) but i'd like to see them have a good run at it. Would like to see Poland do well also. been to both places following Ireland and had a great time in both, plus I would like too see the second choice keeper that Poland have getting into the first team and also one of Japans midfield players I would like too see do well also.;) :D .

Germany and a good bet at 8-1 as the home country. Another good bet, although I wouldn't be bothered if they won, Italy at 9-1.

100 lids on each of them to win should show a nice profit come the end of the tournament.

Sorry if this is already a thread,I took a quick glance but did'nt notice anything similar.

With Ireland not in it, will you be rooting for another Country in this year's World Cup? Who?

For me
1. Ausrtalia
2. Holland

(I'll might root for Sweden and/or Argentina if the other 2 are gone before the latter stages)
