Big game in Drogheda in terms of Europe places Pats could close up to only a point off Europe with a win or Drogs could go 7 clear of them. (The classic 6 pointer)
Bohs need to pick up the 3 points against Cork to put an end to their recent poor form. The cup loss makes staying in the European places vital.
Waterford could with a win give themselves a theoretical chance for a late run at Europe but i dont thing they have the quality ultimately.
Galway v Derry is an interesting one, Derry will be desperate for a win but Galway are desperate to avoid getting reeled in by Sligo,,,lot at stake this weekend (like most weekends tbf GLITW).
Cobh will be hoping Treaty can take something off Dundalk but UCD have a good away record so they need to be on their game.
With a six point lead Dundalk are nearly there but things could unravel quickly ............i do expect them to stretch away over the next few games they have spent the season just doing enough without being impressive but i feel thye have more in them.
On the European places if Rovers lose to Drogs in the cup there is a decent chance that a top 3 team wont win the cup so 4th might not be enough......Will we have Bohs and Derry / Shels fans cheering us on in Drogheda ..as well as the added bonus of if Rovers win the cup and any of those 3 finish 2nd they will get a Europa league place and a parachute for finishing second

Well if it's any consolation, we're also very pessimistic about our chances against Derry! Waterford v Sligo is a huge one
Genuinely pessimistic about Derry's chances against Galway.
I only got to see parts of the earlier fixture in EDP on LOITV but Derry were so much better than Galway earlier in the year.
Derry match up well against Galway on a good surface. Unfortunately can't see anything other than a comfortable Derry win on Friday.

Kerry's league form has been poor and inconsistent. The run to the Cup quarter finals has saved the season from petering out early. I haven't seen anything to suggest that there will be an upturn in league results between now and the end of the season.

You gave Bohs a run for their money in the cup last year , on that basis Sligo cant take it for granted

Derry don't play like that often enough though and have only one win in 6 and that was against Treaty. I'm not as pessimistic after the the last couple of games, I'm hoping we have turned a corner with the likes of Hickey and Keohane back from injury. I can see us at least getting a draw but I feel Derry are there for the taking if we really go at them.

Yeah but in a country where moaning about how rubbish everything is a national passtime. LoI just takes it up a notch, expect every game to be a hammering, the apocalypse is happening tomorrow, and anything else is a bonus - we are all deeply scarred and barely keeping the lid on GLITW PTSD!

Just to add to the mood so: we have won just 2 of our last 9 games and both of them were in the cup at home to non-league opposition . Third-placed Derry will wipe the floor with us, we’ll be lucky to get nil on Friday

Aye, because Rovers fans have had it tough these last few years.
For my part, with Derry's last league win seemingly receding ever further into my childhood, I've decided to break a long held ban on gambling and started chucking a fiver on us to win the league every year.

If I were Galway I wouldn't be too worried, as surely a Sligo Rovers player will be sent off in the opening minutes of their game in what will later be judged to be a Waterford player tying a shoelace. A penalty will also be awarded. They say history is the best predator of the future so this must be nailed on. GLITW

Its when you are winning that the high expectation stress levels go through the roof. Itd be sooooo easy to be a Harps fan!

Almost a full set of fixtures tonight and only 1 match on in the big Smoke.
Asking for a friend , if you show up at Dalymount can you buy a ticket on the night for the Mono stand?

We can forget about Europe if we don’t start winning soon. The old cliched ‘must win game’ tonight.

Smasher in dalymount, Bohs piling on the pressure, one well taken goal the difference but city have defended really well and a marvellous save by their keeper pushing a Rooney effort onto the bar. Tierney had one off the line too , Bohs need to remember now that a game lasts 90 odd minutes and keep it up!!

Ross Tierney is a machine and Dawson Devoy is a finely tuned engine. I know Taylor scored two but Tierney and Devoy ran the show.

Yeah the lads missing last week all showed up! Rooney also good, Byrne solid , Flores was outstanding and great to have a goalkeeper who is calm. Kacper was tidy and cool as always. Big fella took his goals well, and the subs were well timed and played well.
Lovely to see Archie back, proper baller, really hope he gets a contract extension.
All in all a good night, but City really faded badly as the hour mark came on,goners unfortunately, I love cork as an away day.

Very good second half from us and deserved win in the end. Brings Waterford right into the mix and a great result for us in Galway.

The sad thing thing about watching the game in the MF tonight is that Dundalk didnt actually play that well.We have had plenty of these type of scorelines under the current manager even going back to his Limerick fc stint some, as is well known were of a suspicious nature ,his obvious lack of ambition for Limerick football has been witnessed in his reaction to such results ,its 1 win in 11 , at one stage last season it was no win in 14,i wonder when are .....people..... going to wake up and start questioning the whole setup, its getting embarassing.Meanwhile ill wait...wait and wait come on Tommy park the ego and do whats right for soccer in the midwest....btw it was Treaty 0 Dundalk 7.just saying like.

That was sweet. The games against Drogs have been gruelling this season so it’s fantastic to finally get the win in one of them. The big games just keep on coming , only a trip to the Brandywell next week.

It was a fairly entertaining game in Finn Park tonight. Real end to end stuff, even if it wasn't of the highest quality standard.
Couple of good goals scored too. Hans Mpongo proving a real find for Harps up front.
Harps not just out of the race for the play-offs yet.

First division title race all but over now, Ramblers lucky to get a point in the end. UCD upped it 2nd half and would have deserved the win.

Can't beat a late late show. Thought we just about deserved it, though Drogs always make it difficult, and had some good chances. We adapted our game a bit tonight I think, and didn't try to play out from the back as much as usual. A compliment to Drogheda and the pressure they put you under. The game seemed to have swung their way late on, so we did well to dig in and get the win. Kev Doherty losing the plot with Dennison was fun ;)
Disappointing result for Waterford and we are looking over our shoulders at Galway and Sligo Rovers now. A win would have made us safe from play off position but the loss on top of recent poor form means we need to bounce back next week away to Cork City with a win as can't see us winning too many more games.

Sligo are hitting form. A bit like Drogheda last year.
Great finish by Cian Brosnan. Been a good squad player. Has taken his opportunities these last couple of games.
In a patchy and underwhelming league season, Kerry are on more points than last season anyway.
Kevin Williams wasn't looking for a penalty, got straight up and was still given a second yellow card. There's indiscipline and there's poor officiating. Poor officiating on this occasion. It has to be said.
Kerry travel to Dundalk next. A daunting prospect. Dundalk seem to be kicking for home.

We adapted our game a bit tonight I think, and didn't try to play out from the back as much as usual.. Playing out from the back, or any type of passing game, is far too risky on that pitch. Drogheda keep it unwatered to suit the way they play. I’m not having a go at them, every team is entitled to maximise their advantage.
Our domestic form since the European games began: played 5, won 5, scored 16, conceded 0.
And it’s 7 clean sheets in a row.

An entertaining game in Galway last night, and a lovely way to end it!
Such poor defending from us for Keohane's opening. Way too much time and space in the box. Good finish, but only ourselves to blame.
We were lucky to go in level at half time, but I enjoyed the physicality of our first goal against a big Galway side.
I've been critical of Maher this season, but his performance last night won us the game. A few top quality saves.
No issue with the red card, our sixth this year, which isn't great.
Our final goal was lovely. From Duffy's pass to start it off, to Dipo passing back to O'Reilly. Great quality shown, and such a badly needed win.
Probably most surprising of all though is that we won a game with Rob Hennessey in charge. Might even drag our win ratio with him up to the low 20s.

The unstoppable force of Pats in the last round of games vs the immovable object of every time we play Drogs finishing 0-0.

And it’s 7 clean sheets in a row.
Interestingly in those 7 domestic clean sheets in a row, Kenny hasn’t started the same back 4 in consecutive games once. The defensive solidity has been excellent lately regardless of personnel. If you include Europe then it’s 10 clean sheets in the last 13 and 2 of those games were against Besiktas

This Dundalk team is a different beast than the one which started the year.
While its a bit less defensively solid, it is much more dangerous going forward, with many more options on the bench.
17 goals in the last 3 games is some going.

The defensive solidarity has corresponded with Sean Hoares absence from the team. Coincidence ? :D I thought he was a poor signing, and wouldn't have him near the first team, bar in case of a dire emergency,

The on loan striker from QPR Vaughan is making a big difference, putting him on as a sub, that's 3 in 2 games now. Dundalk's record equalling away league win, last one was v FH in 2016, i was it, lovely May sunny evening, well it was for us. The other biggest away win was 8-1 away to Sligo in 1987.
Dundalk are 1/25 to win the FD now, 8 points clear and 12 goals better off hopefully get the job done next month, and the last game v Cobh will be just to pick up the trophy.
Still think at least 6 new players are needed to be able to compete in PD and stay up.

Wondering is the decline down to Ollie H having to step down, maybe contrary to some popular views, but I think Caulfield is a decent manager, interesting to hear from Galway fans on why they thinks its gone pear shape recently.

We played very well last night, much better than the last few months.
Ollie is a huge loss. JC was really struggling to get us out of the First Division until he brought him in.
At the same time that Ollie had to step back, we lost a few influential players, Byrne going back to Bohs, Hickey, Borden, Keohane being injured and Moses leaving.
I think we'll end up in the play-offs but I think we'll win it and stay up. Fair play to that Longford lad that was on here saying how good Elding is, he's really taking his chance at Sligo and they probably deserve to finish ahead of us.
Ollie Horgan, is there a LOI fan out there with a bad word to say about him? We can argue about formations and styles, but he's always been a genuine man and his interviews prove that.
Worth mentioning his brother Marty, that passed away a couple of years ago, a school teacher in Galway. He had a big influence over a lot of Galway lads that played in the League over the last 30 years.

Dundalk hitting the form button at the right time and was looking at the bench on Friday night and was the strongest I've seen all season. We actually didn't play to our full potential in the game imo but still it was so easy . need to continue this great run of form v Kerry next week which goes without saying
We'll worry about next year's work when this year's is complete ✅
Keep the faith, we're almost home 🤞🤞
C'mon the town 🏁
