With a long summer (hopefully ) of European football ahead we need to get a headstart on the league.
Home to the league leaders on Friday would be a good place to start.
Shels will be desperate to get a win agaisnt PAts as tight and all as things are currently if you are 7th and are losing games it can be easy enough to get detached.
Also when things are so tight you can be sure SOMEONE will go on a bit of a run so staying at the top end of the pack becomes really important.
5 0r 6 points behind one team is doable 5 or 6 behind 4 or 5 teams and its hard.
I thought Dundalk would breeze the first division but if Bray and Cobh were to win on Friday you would have 3 teams within a couple of points, big oppurtunity for Dundalk to stamp a bit of authority on things agaisnt Bray....have Dundalk let points slip due to complacency ? or are Cobh and Bray better than i give them credit for being?

Could really do with a win after a disappointing couple of weeks, unfortunately with a thin squad injuries to senior players will make a big difference, wouldn’t be overly optimistic tbh ….

For the sake of the First Division, let's hope Cobh can win at Wexford and Bray can get a result in Oriel. We don't want Dundalk extending their lead any further!

We've been very poor for the past four games aside from second half against Longford. Bray have an amazing run apart from last game. I'm a lot more nervous about this game than I was a few weeks ago. Some injuries and suspensions for us too.

Yeah, more points dropped and we're really chasing things at this stage. 3 points a must. I assume Athlone have improved since we played them there. They were awful that night

Kerry lead Treaty 1-0 at half time. After defending a few corners, Kerry scored when they got a corner at the other end. One of the better halfs of football by Kerry all season. Composure in their play that has been lacking most of this season. Treaty will be looking to change their approach for the second half.
Nip and tuck at Tolka. Lovely finish from Mason Melia to put Pats ahead. Kian Leavy starting to look dangerous too. Shels looked to run out of ideas slightly after the first 20 minutes. One goal not a comfortable lead by any means for Pats.

Fecking hell. Last week was two penalties saved and a miss from two yards. This week we hit the woodwork four times and have a late winner ruled out.

Rovers really upped the pace in the second half to easily dismiss a very limited Drogs ( difficult to understand how they had been top).
Even more satisfying is the we finished the match with 5 players aged 20 or younger on the pitch.

Kerry hung on in the second half. Treaty much improved in the second half. A mixture of fantastic saves by Hiemer, some good defending and a bit of a charmed life at times to keep Treaty scoreless.
Colin Healy had to serve a one match touchline ban stemming from his previous game many years ago. He'll be in the dugout next week for the first time for a Kerry side who have achieved back to back league wins for the first time!!

A tale of two keepers in Kerry.
Great result for Kerry. Good first half but definitely rode our luck in the second half as we started to lose bodies and shape. That miss from Trip in the dyeing minutes summed up Treaty’s night in front of goal!!! Shocking miss from 2 yards.

Only 4 points between 5th and 10th in the First Division. Kerry, Athlone and Longford unbeaten in their last two games. Wexford, UCD and Finn Harps meanwhile have dropped points. Kerry, Athlone and Longford looked like they were being cut adrift two weeks ago but they are all back in the mix.
Potentially outside the top 3 there is going to be some battle for the remaining spots. A three way title battle and a seven way playoff battle will be some going for a division that hasn't really had these immense battles in recent seasons. There has been some playoff battles alright but not on this scale potentially.

Thought Derry were great in the first half against Cork, but having failed to get the second goal to kill the match in the first half, were a bit naive at the start of the second. Really needed a bit of game management to slow things down, take the sting out of it and end any prospect of a game of football in that first fifteen of the second. Cork were brilliant and battered Derry, who weren't streetwise enough. Cork can feel hard done by to lose, I reckon.
Weird match to reflect on as a Derry fan: on one hand, there are problems there that need addressing, a lack of cuteness and gamesmanship. On the other hand, you can't really complain when you get three points you don't deserve and lucky, undeserved wins are sort of one of the hallmarks of successful teams.

10 point gap between 3rd and 4th in the First Division and only 5 points between 4th and 10th,the top 3 are well out on their own and any team from the rest could get the playoffs….

Rovers very good again tonight, Darragh Nugent MOTM for me.
Drogheda comfortably the worst, or at least most limited, team to come to Tallaght all season. The fact they were top is an indictment of Rovers and the entire League.

Yup.
Next week we'll have three goals ruled out for offside and knowing our luck have a penalty overturned by VAR.
On the plus side, Mikey Raggett scored. So there's that

Becoming the same old story with some of the Pats performances this season. Very good first half I felt after a bright enough shels opening 15 mins Pats dominated the rest of the half and Anang didn’t have to make a save (tipped a speculative Coyle effort out for a corner but the shot was heading over anyways. Then 2 mins into the second half Forrester does his hamstring stretching for an interception on the edge of shels box, Shels show their class by not putting the ball out of play and going up the other end to score, Forrester goes off injured and Pats go to ****e for the rest of the game. Not a game they deserved to lose on the balance of play but Jesus they need to improve in games where Forrester isn’t on the pitch

Massive win for us to tonight. Quality wise the league mightn’t necessarily be fantastic but the sheer entertainment on offer this season is amazing. When we sacked Long we were in danger of being cut adrift of the top 7 suddenly a few weeks and wins later were 9 clear of the bottom two and 5 off the top.
Honestly it’s ****ing hard not to love this league. Don’t know how somebody can love football and not be a fan of this league. Cmon Da Blues
Great win to finally beat Galway as it's been 3 years since we beat them and with a goal from a corner too after all the goals they have scored from set pieces against us in that time. Deserved win and should have been more than 1 goal as Clarke made some great saves and Lonergan missed a great chance in injury time. We've gone from losing 7 games in a row to winning 4 in a row now.

Waterford could have won 5 or 6 nil only for Brendan Clarke. A performance that says we'll finish bottom in the bottom 4. Hanging on and hanging on, camped on the edge of our box, hoping not to concede, and then we do, and then we can't score in a month of Sundays.
Bray will be kicking themselves this am, going 2-1 up with 2 mins to go and with 10 men, then to be clawed back to 2-2 on 90+2.
That said, looked a clear pen for Dundalk first half, and a second half off the line clearance looked to be over the line from a few who were online with this at the corner flag area stand side, but that's football.
We are also drawing far too many games. Decent game though last night.

The released highlights on you tube seem to have edited out the Forrester incident.
Is that Shels or LOITV doing the editing?

It’s the league that do the highlights. Think I mentioned on Monday that they miss at least one big incident in every single highlights package they put out and low and behold that seems to be the case again, although I haven’t watched any of the highlights of last nights games back yet

If highlights went up on a Saturday morning that were properly compiled and actually include all the incidents/chances in the games rather than the current quick turnaround that they’re uploaded in which includes stuff like 30 seconds of the half time whistle being blown, I think most people would accept that tradeoff, as long as the video of all the goals on the night continues to go up on a Friday night

The scores from other games that pop up during a live stream are fairly embarrassing too. I watched the Waterford game. They put up incorrect info about the Cork Derry score, two minutes later they put up the correct one, then five minutes later they put up the original incorrect one. It's small things like this, along with their ridiculous attempts at replays and their useless highlights that show the league in a bad light. I'll never pay for a subscription again. Even at a ton for the season it's overpriced.
The commentary has improved from what I've seen so far, in fairness

Who's going to compile the highlights though? It's not exactly rocket science but it's time consuming.

I dunno, I’m happy to pay the €99 for the season, and get to see every Pats game, plus any other game that takes my fancy (will probably give Sligo/Bohs a watch later.: The complaints about coverage don’t seem that major to me. Small bugbear last night was the Shels commentator (was it Declan Drake ? Sounded a bit like him) pronouncing it Elbouzetti for the whole game. Was pretty irritating, has he genuinely never heard the name being said before, or even read how it’s spelt ? Anyway, I remember the days before LOI tv, so I’ll take the minor irritants. Plus, I got a new phone and am finally able to cast to my TV, so happy days

Had not made a game in weeks so delighted to get to meet all my Kerry friends and as usual top notch hospitality from all ,,,that is .. except on the pitch.Treaty were very charitable in the first half, gave away a soft goal and totally outplayed....second half totally dominated the home side but the charity vibe didnt abate as a couple of glaring missed sitters and some fine saves by the home keeper meant the inconsistency continues.

That would depend on the club of course but a lot of premier division clubs have media teams that could potentially take it on as they did in the past.

I haven’t watched a full Pats match on it in years due to being at the games but even listening to Oisin Langan and Keith Treacy pronounce Axel Sjöberg (correct pronunciation is Showberg) as Carl (government first name that he doesn’t go by) Axel "Soyberg" and Tom Grivosti as "Grigoski" or "Grigogski" on the highlights absolutely grinds my gears :D

Huge 3 points, Sligo were up for a scrap.
Lys’ first of many goals for us, love Sligo, great away spot.
Mad league this year, don’t know if any team will finish top 3 or 8th, great stuff.
Big win for Bohs, and that almost confirms unless a huge season turn around by both, will see one of Sligo or Cork C relegated, the other in PO.
Thought one of the most unusual stories of the weekend was the almost rudeness by Kenny in the post match interview Shels v Pats, he is better than that and should be treating interviews with better respect, even his facial expression was wrong, like a guy in the pub challenging you. He needs to seriously improve his media, but that was same at DFC and Ireland, seems he not taking it onboard.
Getting very tight at the top, Derry all of a sudden getting to 2nd, and Bohs moving 4th, a place they would only have dreamed of last month.

This football lark is just great. You just turn up for 90 minutes and you’ll eventually score a winner. No need to worry as the clock runs down,as you can be sure a goal is coming no matter how late it is in the game.

Although it was a 0-1 to Bohs they could have won by more or just as easily drawn or lost. The missed penalty was a big factor. Although the pitch looked great I thought the ball bobbled about a lot. Bohs were worthy winners. Three points on the road and a clean sheet. Just brilliant!

Great win by the Rams in Wexford on Friday. Wexford were very impressive when they beat Cobh 3-1 earlier in the season but were a shadow of that team on Friday. Dundalk/Bray 2-2 draw sets up the top of the table clash now next Friday in Cobh. Expecting about 1500+ attendance.

I looked at the Kenny interview expecting a car crash. Thought it was ok tbh.
Suggested that it was poor form to play on with Forrester injured, but still said Pats should have been better. Can't expect Kenny to be doing cartwheels after losing to a late goal.

I think anything other than a Bohs win would have been a bit of a snatch and grab win for Sligo. They had the peno early on but outside of that they had no real chances of note. They played well for the first 20-25 mins and then really fell off (Shades of Bohs under Devine if I'm being honest). Devoy and Rooney both had good chances to put Bohs ahaead before and after the break, I thought Seargant in goals for Sligo played really well and took off some very important saves but it just felt like the goal was coming even if Bohs weren't on this freaky run of late winners. Credit to Moose on the goal as well. It was a bit of a hit and hope ball from midfield that the defence failed to deal with and he took advantage like good players will. Hopefully the injuries are behind him now and he can work on getting fit for a full 90 because I think with him and Whelan pushing each other for minutes one of them will start putting away goals more regularly.

We are so far off where we should be with the squad we have - awful stuff so farm bar flashes of 5-10 minutes here and there. Poor attitude on some players, not enough work, and mentally brittle, and teams know that now.
. Another year written off i fear. Rovers are going to eventually walk the league.

SHHHHHH keep that to yourself around here.
You know how this works. Once Derry start getting mentioned as potential winners/contenders we fall to pieces.
Lets just continue not to be mentioned and go under the radar for a bit longer.
