With a long summer (hopefully ) of European football ahead we need to get a headstart on the league.
Home to the league leaders on Friday would be a good place to start.
Shels will be desperate to get a win agaisnt PAts as tight and all as things are currently if you are 7th and are losing games it can be easy enough to get detached.
Also when things are so tight you can be sure SOMEONE will go on a bit of a run so staying at the top end of the pack becomes really important.
5 0r 6 points behind one team is doable 5 or 6 behind 4 or 5 teams and its hard.

I thought Dundalk would breeze the first division but if Bray and Cobh were to win on Friday you would have 3 teams within a couple of points, big oppurtunity for Dundalk to stamp a bit of authority on things agaisnt Bray....have Dundalk let points slip due to complacency ? or are Cobh and Bray better than i give them credit for being?

Could really do with a win after a disappointing couple of weeks, unfortunately with a thin squad injuries to senior players will make a big difference, wouldn’t be overly optimistic tbh ….

For the sake of the First Division, let's hope Cobh can win at Wexford and Bray can get a result in Oriel. We don't want Dundalk extending their lead any further!

We've been very poor for the past four games aside from second half against Longford. Bray have an amazing run apart from last game. I'm a lot more nervous about this game than I was a few weeks ago. Some injuries and suspensions for us too.

Yeah, more points dropped and we're really chasing things at this stage. 3 points a must. I assume Athlone have improved since we played them there. They were awful that night

Kerry lead Treaty 1-0 at half time. After defending a few corners, Kerry scored when they got a corner at the other end. One of the better halfs of football by Kerry all season. Composure in their play that has been lacking most of this season. Treaty will be looking to change their approach for the second half.

Nip and tuck at Tolka. Lovely finish from Mason Melia to put Pats ahead. Kian Leavy starting to look dangerous too. Shels looked to run out of ideas slightly after the first 20 minutes. One goal not a comfortable lead by any means for Pats.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Fecking hell. Last week was two penalties saved and a miss from two yards. This week we hit the woodwork four times and have a late winner ruled out.

The pub will be pleased at least

Rovers really upped the pace in the second half to easily dismiss a very limited Drogs ( difficult to understand how they had been top).

Even more satisfying is the we finished the match with 5 players aged 20 or younger on the pitch.

Kerry hung on in the second half. Treaty much improved in the second half. A mixture of fantastic saves by Hiemer, some good defending and a bit of a charmed life at times to keep Treaty scoreless.
Colin Healy had to serve a one match touchline ban stemming from his previous game many years ago. He'll be in the dugout next week for the first time for a Kerry side who have achieved back to back league wins for the first time!!

Great result for Kerry. Good first half but definitely rode our luck in the second half as we started to lose bodies and shape. That miss from Trip in the dyeing minutes summed up Treaty’s night in front of goal!!! Shocking miss from 2 yards.

Only 4 points between 5th and 10th in the First Division. Kerry, Athlone and Longford unbeaten in their last two games. Wexford, UCD and Finn Harps meanwhile have dropped points. Kerry, Athlone and Longford looked like they were being cut adrift two weeks ago but they are all back in the mix.
Potentially outside the top 3 there is going to be some battle for the remaining spots. A three way title battle and a seven way playoff battle will be some going for a division that hasn't really had these immense battles in recent seasons. There has been some playoff battles alright but not on this scale potentially.

Thought Derry were great in the first half against Cork, but having failed to get the second goal to kill the match in the first half, were a bit naive at the start of the second. Really needed a bit of game management to slow things down, take the sting out of it and end any prospect of a game of football in that first fifteen of the second. Cork were brilliant and battered Derry, who weren't streetwise enough. Cork can feel hard done by to lose, I reckon.

Weird match to reflect on as a Derry fan: on one hand, there are problems there that need addressing, a lack of cuteness and gamesmanship. On the other hand, you can't really complain when you get three points you don't deserve and lucky, undeserved wins are sort of one of the hallmarks of successful teams.

10 point gap between 3rd and 4th in the First Division and only 5 points between 4th and 10th,the top 3 are well out on their own and any team from the rest could get the playoffs….

Rovers very good again tonight, Darragh Nugent MOTM for me.

Drogheda comfortably the worst, or at least most limited, team to come to Tallaght all season. The fact they were top is an indictment of Rovers and the entire League.
