lee trundle seems to have stepped up a division with no problems at all....
i spoke to a swansea fan the other day and asked about lee trundle. he said hes been his "usual self" pulling tricks out the back and more importantly he now has 5 goals in the 6 games he has played this season. what more must he do to get noticed? hes obviously loyal 2 swansea but surely deserves a chance in a meaningless friendly?

Kerr is supposed to have told him last season that if he was in a higher division, he would be called into the squad.
I don't think we should be calling him up for the Cyprus/Switzerland games just yet, League 1 is no comparison to international level. Depending on who the spring friendlies are against, and where Swansea are in the divison, he may be called up for one of them - Rowlands made his debut against Romania after QPR had clinched promotion from League 1

If Gary Doherty can get into the Ireland squad,Trundle should be captain.

In that case it's time to bring back Richie Foran.

Lee Trundle is English, 29 and a player who likes to showboat, the sheer lunacy of even thinking of Trundle...

....bullsh*t....typical people who label a player english as he was born in that country....numerous times on here it has been pointed out that trundle has always considered himself irish, the man said himself that when he was younger he was always wearing the latest ireland shirt and was never interested in much english. so get of ya fu*king high horse and learn the facts before making statements such as that.
secondly...a player who likes to showboat, now correcte me if im wrong but he scored around 25 goals in each othe last few seasons and i must correct myself from earlier...trundle has 5 goals in 5 games. tell me another irish striker with that record? we have 'strikers' who cant get games and cant score goals, and indeed some who aint even strikers!

Trundle is not up to international standard at all. Lets not forget that league 2 have 48 league games.. lower level, more games.. its bound to distort his record in comparison to premiership players

All this talk about trundle - f**k that, Doyle deserves to be in the squad before him

doyle...also a player not playing at the highest standard in england. i saw the game against france under 21's and he didnt stand out AT ALL. also, he has only played around 5 games in england at a level higher than the EL

So your argument for trundle goes totally out the window

no way. league 1 is too low. Bring on some of the EL players FFS.

no, im stating the point that doyle deserves a call up no more than lee trundle. trundle has achieved more. won divisions player of the year last season. he will get a move jan.

if he was any good he would have loads of clubs chasing him regardless of how loyal he is to swansea. he might have scored loads of goals but he is playing in a **** league.

I don't see what Trundle brings to the party that Connolly doesn't.
Also ...little point calling him up when BK wont give Steven Elliot a run.
Wouldn't be too suprised if he tried his 4-5-1 for the Cypriots ...or as wasteful -put Duffer up front with Robbie.

I dont think that was Qwerty intention.I am sure not many people even on this site have heard of this chap Trundle and if you attempt to confirm his nationality and complete a Google search it declares him as Liverpool born and English.

Jesus is this clutching at straws, the man is an average lower league player, forget about him, if he was any good he'd be in a better league...
Also he'd be playing for England...

Somebody needs to change the url to fantasyfoot.ie - BK will not call up a 29 year old nobody, and invest the necessary time in determining if he has the ability to jump 3 levels. Lunacy... :D

I agree he would be in a better league if he was a better player but I seriously doubt he would be playing for England.
Trundle or Kevin Doyle? no contest. Doyle.

how is it? doyle has played and scored regularly in European competition, and in our Premier division.
Trundles has only scored in the Brtittish 4th division

I think it's pointless to suggest giving Lee Trundle a game in a friendly while playing for Swansea in League 1. I'd give both Doyler and Andrew Keogh a game before him. Both are young and have the potential to be playing at a higher level when they are Trundle's age. Also I'd say Keogh will score more goals than him this season in League 1.

trundle will almost be top scorer
Both Trundle & Doyle scored tonight
Having seen him play, I can catagorically state that Trundle is quality.
And also, about him not playing at a higher level - surprising as it may seem, some players do still have some integrity in hand. When he left Wrexham, which was because of the teams terrible finances, he decided to go to Swansea for a number of reasons, rejecting offers from league 1 and championship clubs, and reportdely a few premiership teams too.
Saying that, Doyler needs a chance before him.

I called Trundle up for Ireland in Championship Manager a few years ago and I won the World Cup - he was a legend. Surely if he can to it in Championship Manager he can do it in real life... :D
I wish Brian Kerr would use friendlies for what they are meant for - testing out players without the pressure of being in a competitive match where points are on stake. What is the point of playing Robbie and Clinton in a friendly? We all know what they can do! David Connolly should be in that squad in my opinion ahead of Doherty (God I nearly cried when I seen his big head pop out from the dugout against France) and Trundle, Elliot, Doyle and whoever else should at least be given a chance to prove themselves in friendlies.

what exactly has trundle done, other than score goals for some crap team in a crap league, where anyone with a half decent touch could look good? And even then, he's only done it for a year or two of his career.

Like I said, that's exactly what most people would have said about Doyle, and before you go on about U-21 and European games, Elliott is the U-21 top scorer and isn't setting the world on fire at senior level and as for European games, the majority of the teams in the Championship are far superior the European oppostion Doyle's faced in the last 2 years.
Quite frankly you and Pablo are making this folder a chore to read in recent times.
I'd be happier if you made the case for Doyle to be called up now, rather than b!tch about how he should have been called up before now.
I think Trundle would be lost in International football...if he started that showboating against a decent international defender they would not take long to sort him out..then again i also agree its no harm trying him out in a friendly but with more important games coming up thats a no-go for a bit...on Doyle i really do not think he is near ready yet..he needs to settle down with Reading and have a decent season and next year he will definetly get a call for a friendly..lads also in fairness will you lot stop arguing about who is wrong and right..we will see in time if these players are good enough Kerr or whoever will be managing Ireland are hardly going to ignore decent strikers..and on Gary Doherty the reason he is in the squad is because he is versatile and can also change the style of play with his height when we need it up-front..he is not great though..

I know that, I was pointing out that Doyle scoring in the Championship is better than him knocking in goals in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup

Maybe Trundle could be the next Aldridge? :)
Aldridge was 26 when he started professional football with Oxford.
Trundle was 25 when he joined the English league with Wrexham.
Aldridge was 29 when he joined the top flight with Liverpool. He was 30 when he scored the first of his 19 international goals.
Trundle was... ;)

if he started that showboating against a decent international defender they would not take long to sort him out.
C.Ronaldo showboats almost every time he has the ball and he's regarded as a top class player. Anyway, Trundle doesn't showboat at every opportunity.
For those that haven't seen them:
Trundle against Macclesfield in March:

and against Kidderminster:

Another Compilation including the famous shoulder roll:
http://www.swanseacityafc.co.uk/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=23
Some of the stuff in those video's would beat most defenders. When he's playing for Swansea he's always tightly marked by one player (just look at the video's for evidence) and another 1 or 2 are quickly over when he has the ball. I'd love to see him at a higher level with players of his own ability. He's much too good for his current division.

seen them all before but i could watch the guy all day long, hes pure quality and it dont matter how good the defender is, the speed of his footwork marks him out as a top level performer. with that natural ability he should have the chance to prove himself

Can't see why we can't give him a go good crowd entertainment if nothing else.If it does not work out so what, look what happened to Paul Butler and John Macken never to be seen again.
Has scored 2 goals so far today.
For some reason he reminds me of Steve Bull.Quality.

Saw Trundle against Tranmere in the first game of the season. He spent half the match trying to get a penalty (which he did) and the other half wrestling with the centre half. He is a good centre forward but international? I don't think so.

He can talk all he wants because he won't be involved in any Ireland game before 2006 at the earliest. His best hope of an Ireland cap is if BK fails to qualify for the WC. If we do qualify then BK will take the players that got him there.

really do think he would be a good addition to our squad rather than playing the likes of gary doherty in a front position. we dont really have that many options .. But his chance wont come till feb in a friendly at the earliest..

How you can draw such a conclusion from one line in a poor interview says more about you than it does about Trundle.
