Was in Des Kelly stand for the Bohs game and looked like the Drogs almost filled the Mono Stand, which holds 450. I would have said 350-400 myself, great travelling support too.

Definitely. Was a good bit more than the listed number of Rovers support in Tolka last night too, especially if that section's capacity is currently over a thousand.

Pretty sure rovers end was sold out as people were looking for tickets earlier in the day. Allocation was 1100

What’s the point? You were just informed that rovers sold out their 1100 allocation and changed the made up figure of 5/600 to 7/800 :)

Too be honest looking at the Shamrock away support at the Ballybough end open terracing on LOITV on Monday, I would have said closer to 700+
The terracing was not overly packed and was less so nearer to the Riverside. Also the allocated away seating section of the Richmond road Main Stand was more or less empty. That would have been approximately 200 seated. If Shamrocks sold the full allocation then a fair few didn't turn up. By the by Shels quoted 4628.
But saying all that, if over 700 travelled on Monday nights it is still a great away support!

Not very obliging m8, considering we are all just football fans who enjoy all, the aspects of the game!

Bohs looked to have 400 in the away terrace and a good few in the stand, I'd be thinking 450-500, def had more than Pats visit earlier in April.

Attendance given was 2,700, so add on the usual scanning 'challenges' loads again last night telling me their tickets didn't scan, so call the actual crowd maybe 2,850, thats about 2,400 home fans, suppose not bad for bottom of league and no wins (at the time).

We don't get seats in our allocation, the 1100 are behind the goal. Rovers crowd for both games in tolka look fairly similar from the highlights.

Excuse my obvious ignorance here , but would the opportunity of playing in tallaght not have increased the Galway interested parties,or is 300 the standard figure for away Galway support.?

Outside of the bigger games I think 300 away fans is a great number for Galway ,they don’t historically have a large away following afaik….

I know Rovers fans like to bail over the wall and horse aound on the pitch but Galway fans tend to watch and let their team do the playing!

That, and whilst it's a modern ground and all, do people actually like it, or do they prefer the older grounds, run down as they are?
Also worth noting that Tallaght can be time-consuming to get to on public transport.

It is everyone I know's least favourite ground in Dublin but many of the reasons that we dislike it will be viewed as poistives for others, particularly those driving kids to and from the games.

Away at Drogheda is a favourite, not as a local derby, more the atmosphere thats generated in a small enclosed terrace.

No doubt PC was angling for a response to the way he put his comment, not even he is that arrogant!

Poor crowd from sligo on Friday.

They're levelling the area behind the goal in the next few weeks. Would love if club considered giving that area to away supporters from clubs that don't bring many like sligo and derry as it'd free up a few hundred more for home supporters in away shed

I must have phased it wrong, but my point was around the fact that it's a few years since Galway were playing in the Premier division so thought there may be a bigger crowd than 300, but if 300 is the normal limit of their awayday support then fair play.
Glad to hear it's the least favourite venue for a lot of clubs, after all they normally see their team beaten there:)

Pardon the pun but there was in me hoop
300 of us there, there was about 170 of us in the TV gantry stand, and no way was there another 130 dotted around the place. That’s a decent showing for us as we traditionally struggle to bring big numbers to away games.

I remember the good old days of the 90's even when fans were mixed, the current home terrace was just home fans left and right and away fans in the middle. An ex work mate of mine, big Drogs fans used to love going to watch games from the current away shed.

I noticed that on Fri from goals round up how small the away support was for Sligo, it should be fun there on BH monday lunchtime !

Hi Cosmo,

What is happening behind that goal area as you stated in your comment?

You keep asking for further info but you do nothing with it. At least in the real attendance thread the data is used; for averages by club and division, and total attendances for seasons. This is just nonsense

I'd prefer to leave that to someone else, I just thought it would be a good idea to begin a thread like this. To be fair it seems to have attracted a decent following by the number of weekly posts. Maybe you would be interested in adding the away averages by club and division, and total away attendances for seasons, seeing as you seem to be following this thread with interest. Unless you have another idea for a thread that would be of more interest to us!

Without any semi-accurate data, it would be difficult. But it would be interesting to see accurate data for away fans released, and collated in a similar threaed.

So Buckett, I take that as a no!

Even with the current semi-accurate data, it would be interesting to see it collated, showing away support trends amongst teams during the season.

As I have told you before my take on this information has been based on reading emails and posts here, on extratime.ie, local sports reports, watching LOI TV, attending games myself and checking various league clubs social media outputs, which all helps to create a semi-accurate number of the away support.
This method at least gives a reasonable picture for most fans, but like everything you will never please everyone Buckett, as you probably have found yourself at times.
So, keep following the thread if you want you do have the choice! :)

One group of lads standing together were all I saw from the gantry anyway so that would make sense. Made plenty of noise though to be fair to them. They also seemed to enjoy the quality refereeing performance.
