Goal you still playing I’m Jonny card haha dogs on the street knows manager of UCC is getting paid I know two managers on here that can confirm that cause they got offered it in the past haha that wasn’t a dig at the management of UCC the point I was making was it’s tough work running um so manager deserves what he gets now getting back to football missing players or not I did say after Grattan game the better teams would bully UCC watched um few times now and really didn’t see anything special about um same with Grangevale when they were all the rage start of season told ye they’d end up mid table unfortunately for Aul premier every year the cream rises to the top Coachford still running for treble Grattan still chance of double not a rant just my opinion.

We finally agree on something Fish teams like Ucc Grattan coachford just three I know of that or paying manager needs to be competing for all trophies in my opinion but it is thankless job hats off to all managers in all leagues

100% ucc management are getting paid and fairplay to them for getting money for the job because its a thankless job but my opinion on getting paid is the minute u accept it you need to guarantee success and this year ucc has failed to deliver with all the hype about them at start of season but watched them few times over season i knew they would struggle few cup runs but sure its all in luck of draw with cups just look at knocknaheeney celtic and village both struggling in league and in semi final of aoh cup but thats football for you its a funny old game

Would have to disagree about a failed season, going to finish 3rd in a league behind two teams that have dominated it past few few years, AOH QF lost to a side runners up last year and have beaten Grattan two years in a row there now in the comp, Mossie SF lost to one of the two faves to reach final, tough gig having a new team out every week missing players here and there. As ye said Thankless job won’t get the same commitment as other players on club teams unfortunately but that’s how it is.

I would have to agree with Cityboy. Let's not forget they only got promoted too so to finish 3rd in the top league in the AUL is a serious achievement. It will take another gear to compete with Grattan and Aghabolaghhhhgford

Don’t think personally third in league is good enough and loosing in quarter of aoh and semi of Mossy can’t count only played one game to get to semi in all fairness I agree with Fish poor season for me if that’s the case Village and knocka or having great seasons Village semi mossy semi Aoh and I think they’ll beat knocka sat and then knocka semi Aoh and final of Henry Healy .

I disagree with u i personally do think its a failed season espically with the luxury of players they have to pick upon other team would love to have that luxury to choose from they were well beaten against city wanders in aoh before appeal went in and then absolutely battered last night against watergrasshill and probaly finish 3rd in league behind coachford or grattan by at least 10 points first year in premier i understand but to to not even compete for the league YES it is a poor season i wonder will management jump ship again or demand more money like the last time

Getting promoted and finishing 3rd in the top division is good season in my opinion.

Going on that logic most teams will have bad seasons.

A good season is clear progression which to be fair they have achieved

How many teams are above that UCC side that have their pick of players before that teams gets their pick? Genuine Question unsure myself, If every team that comes up to premier are going to be judged as a bad season by finishing below them two then it'll be a while before a promoted team may have a good season, At the exception of Hill plenty teams have been promoted from the other leagues and are doing quite well in those leagues challenging to jump again or even for the league. Easy to say it's a bad season when there's no cups there at the end

Personally for me and my experience 20 years in Aul finishing 3rd in the premier this year nothing to write home about teams in that division wouldn’t hold their own in premier A and that’s **** poor to worst Premier in years in my opinion Corkbeg village wanderers Glenthorn leaking 5 and 6 goals regular this year few years back all ten times were tough to get points off tbh standard of players is gone way down hill

TurnTheFullback
09/05/2024, 10:21 AM
Agreed, they have a good year as they have only falling short compared to 2 teams that the rest of the league have behind for years so harsh to judge them on that , especially with college players and their window with the team being so small , hard to get a feel of the league in the first year and sneak out them results that would have them higher , newly promoted and 3rd , you’d take it.

This is also true , hopefully with Castleview coming it , it adds another strong team to the league as it needs it. Personally would love to see Watergrasshill there as I feel they are more than capable to hang in the premier.

Coachford and gratten are the bench mark for every team each season in the premier but people were saying ucc are gonna shake up the division well they were miles off it in my opinion frm them 2 teams so ill say again finishing 3rd is not a good season winning trophies is a great season all they done this season was talked the talk but couldn't back it up against the better sides

Who talked what talk?

latte2012

A lot of ye talk about relegation and promotion here like it actually means something in the AUl anymore. With teams folding, moving to MSL, reforming etc… the leagues are just made up in the summer with some teams being asked to move up a division or 2. I know there’s a few teams don’t even know if they’ll exist come the summer so relegation isn’t even a concern.

Also I noticed the comments about UCC having such a luxury of having so many players to choose from. That in itself brings its own problems. Nothing like having the same group of players playing together for years and then just adding 1 or 2 in the summer.

And the point you make is a very valid one.

But unfortunately there is always going to be this element with AUL as you are dealing with teams not clubs there is no structure in a lot of the teams they are here today gone tomorrow or in sone cases they are somebody else tomorrow.

These teams are the down fall of the AUL and to be fair there is nothing that can really be done about it.

But any serious AUL side will have targets at the start of the season and ultimately that’s what defines whether a season is a success or not.

Criteria for acceptable into the senior league is basically, dose the senior league want you.

All this talk of underage this an that is utter nonsense.

The Aul teams who jumped ship and now bascially popullate the senior 2nd division had underage teams but no real strength in dept squad wise an it showed after a few seasons.

The senior league wants establised teams with the ability to continue season after season.

Stability is the key criteria.

Village or Knocka

Village.

Watergrasshill or Coachford

Coachford

But these games are never straight forward

Chances could have meant Knocka could have won it too.

Good to see hard work rewarded.

All the "resting players" showed today when they couldn't run.

Thought knocka were stuffed as the game went on..no fitness.
The fitter more hard working side were village and deserved it.
Knocka have been pulling fellas off early in games and resting them for certain games lately..personally thought maybe the minutes in the legs might have served a few of them better today

Jason Bourne

Took the game in today.
Beautiful weather , great crowd .

1st half up to the point Knocka scored they had a lot of the ball but wasted too much possession.

Village conceded a terrible first goal by just being to slow off the mark in there own box , full back was way to weak to get out muscled at the back stic an Knocka took full advantage, the only time they did it in the whole game.

I thought then Knocka would push on.
Quite the opposite . Village upped a gear big time.

Deserved equaliser from Village ,knocka were terrible in the air the whole game , left Murphy wide open time an time again.

2nd half Knockas lack of fitness was shocking. Saying that they still missed terrible chances on the break, when they did break. There forward players were way off the mark today.

Village were full of effort and running.
They took their 2nd and 3rd goals really well when Knocka were dead on there feet.

Outside right for Knocka caught the eye, tried all day to take the game to Village.

Kiniry is a different class for Village .

1 team was fit enough and clyinical enough. 1 team wasn't. Probably been the case all season. Village deserved it on they day.

Roll on tomorrow morning .

Id agree on I think today's winner will win it but anything can happen in a cup final.
As for yesterday if you play lads for 60mins every 2nd week and rest them last 3/4 weeks then lack of legs will come back to haunt ya.

I certainly wouldn't say village were poor, they are into final of aoh. They hung in there, battled hard and fitness told.
Not bad for a team who were supposedly 'destroyed' 70% of the game...they can move onto the final with their 30%

Harsh ref
12/05/2024, 7:38 AM
It’s all opinions Joe but if knocka didn’t have the legs yesterday and still created chance after chance my point is what will a fit coachford or watergrasshill hill do to village personally think it be one sided final we’ll know two weeks time so we’ll put that a side on other news see View finally got hands on cup yesterday strange end to that division 3 weeks back Catherdal in running for it now if they lose to Donoughmore their relegated I was told last night my god

I attended this game as well, cross me heart Ref.
Both teams gave it there all.
Ref let the game flow.
Was never going to be a football masterclass .
But both sides gave everything.
The heat ,the hard surface and the constant lumping caught up with both sides.
2 scrappy goals in the first 6 mins of the 2nd half.
Opertuinities foe both to win it after that.
Watergrasshill full back who had a great game just got caught on the turn an even then the Coachford player made a balls of the pass but credit to the Coachford player it was a great finish from a tight angle.

Hard to say either side was better as it was a physical affair more than anything but credit to Coachford as they found a waynto win.

Should be a good final 2 totally different full on sides.
