And how you did I'll never know.
Ljubjana weren't a great side but no worse than Split last year IMO. Shels shot themselves in the foot with poor goals conceded I think (memory's never been the best!) but weren't really any better than them.

Ljubjana did well against Liverpool in the next round if memory served but if we didn't hand them the tie on a plate like we did we could have beaten them. We made them look better than they were with some comical defending.

I don't see them offering radio coverage on any frequency. Something tells me they'd never have bothered anyway.
Also most certainly true, but Swedish TV not showing the game reduced the chances of it being shown from slim to none.
56 ;)
You are both wrong its 60

They held them 1-1 in Slovenia. Liverpool injuring their entire defence (literally, all 3 of them!). Got hammered 3 or 4 nil in the 2nd leg though. I just remember their manager being thoroughly unimpressed with Shels and also their pitch if I recall. You caught them in complete crisis and I remember thinking with Shels already being in their season they'd surely beat them.

ah come on they were not in crisis. They may have lost prosachewchew or however he spells it but he was 36 or something and they looked b far the better team in the home leg.
3-1 and they cruised through the game. It was only when they basically stopped walking that Ollie Cahill I think pulled one goal back. They were the new hope in Solvenian football at the time were they not?? Had the backing from somebody and got a load of good players??
We may beat them these days but they looked good at the time.
Anyway Cork

Cahill and Jason Byrne both scored in the game. Iirc Cahills goal actually gave us a bit of hope, I think it may have made it 1-1 on the night. Both goals carbon copys of each other if memory serves.

They were not the new hope. They were traditionally the best club. Played sometimes in the top division of Yugoslavia and won the first 4 Slovenian league titles in the early 90's. The whole money being ploughed into them think was going tits up that summer. Prosinecki left as he knew he wasn't going to be paid. As I say, they were on their last legs. Proof of this? They no longer exist.
Btw looking at Publikum here on Slovenian TV. The crowd is quite poor and this is the best stadium in Slovenia.

Yeah we can't score them & would be moral boast for the Swedes...
Excellent work so far. Very well done. Fingers crossed it holds tight. I'm actually delighted atm!
