Off to Shrewsbury town on loan from Palace. Good move to a solid league one outfit, let’s see how he does. Worth keeping an eye on this guy’s development. Now need Tayo to secure a league 1 or continental Jan loan move

Starts today in FA cup, hopefully he establishes himself

This is my 3rd simultaneous game so not watching it as closely. Phillips is full of running, played in the middle. Had a nice effort in first half, and one pretty poor effort when he should have done better. Shrewsbury are not a bad team, pass the ball well. If he plays, it will be a great move for him. He has a long way to go to be considered for our senior team from this brief viewing

Shrewsbury just scored, shock on the cards vs Sunderland. Would be a good start for Phillips

Not to be, two injury time goals for Sunderland

Phillips is eligible for our Under 21s in the next campaign, so that's probably the level we're looking at for him at the moment. We're not overloaded with centre mids at that age group, so if he plays regularly for Shrewsbury he's a potential starter for the Under 21s.

3 starts for Killian in his last 3 games. His first senior league game (outside of Ireland…). 3 wins for Shrewsbury helping them surge up the table.

Shrewsbury dropped Killian for today’s game and they’re struggling without him ? 1-0 down

I'm surprised he was dropped as he seemed to be going well. Maybe he has a knock or something.

Came off the bench and put in a lovely through ball for the winner late in injury time. Early days for him but he looks a useful player this lad.

Should play a leading role in midfield for the U21s in the next campaign.

Started today and assists the winner again. Sounds like it was a good assist from him too.

"Brilliant, brilliant, work from Killian Phillips to first keep the ball and then flick the ball over the Oxford defence. And then a stretching Bowman does just as well to guide the ball past the keeper. "

Played five league games won five and the one game Phillips didn't start they went one nil down and he came on to set up the last minute winner. Think Crawford is gonna be building his attack around this lad. Not only can he play a bit of ball but he's a big unit too.

He was really impressive for Drogs at 17 or 18 when they played Rovers. Big by LoI standards and got around the pitch really well. Great to see him continue to develop. Getting way ahead of myself here but we could use a bit of size in midfield.

Didn't know Phillips was born in the US. Having a good start to his first stint in senior.

Seems to be well regarded by the fans and contender for MOTM. Definitely offers something different in the middle with his physicality. Could be a great fit in the long term under Viera at Palace with their record of progressing young lower league players.. https://blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/105192/port-vale-match-thread?page=3

Great to see he is doing well. I know he is a later developer and even one or two I spoke to at Drogheda were surprised he got the pre season exposure he did so early. Getting a grounding in League One is fantastic and will serve him well.

This piece goes into detail about how hard he has had to work from a fairly low based at Killbarrack United in his teens https://m.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/he-looked-a-box-to-box-player-with-a-lot-of-strength-kilbarrack-youth-killian-phillips-catches-patrick-vieiras-eye-41269451.html

Great article. Good that he’s caught the eye so early - also encouraging that he sounds so disciplined being teetotal - been the curse of so many before him.

That article is a year old so he's kicked on even more since that!

Early days in his senior career but it's a very impressive run of form. They had lost 3 in a row before he went into the team and he's been an instrumental part of them going on a 6W streak.

Has only taken him a few games to surpass anything Devoy has done at the same level. Hopefully he can continue to improve at such a fast pace.

Would be some achievement if he could lead them to the L1 playoffs.

Won Shrewsbury's Young Player of the Year award. Shrewsbury fans seem to think he'll definitely get a loan to a Championship club next year.

Millwall and Luton were linked with transfers for him last month.

Stoke and Coventry another two names to be linked with Killian Phillips. Stoke were also linked with a possible loan for Andy Moran but Phillips strikes me as the type of midfielder they'd be more inclined to sign.

Signs a new contract extension. No word on the length of the new contract but probably extends his contract by 12 months till 2025.

Alan Nixon reporting that Aberdeen are in talks with Palace about a loan. Have guaranteed group stage football this season as they qualifed for the Europa League play off round. Nixon also reporting that Palace may allow the move if he signs a longer deal with them first. So would say the contract extension was likely a club option to extend a further 12 months.

That would be nice move. Top division football, same level as Jamie McGrath so decent comparison for place jn Ireland squad.

The SPFL, apart from the 'Old Firm' is not what it was. Would Stoke, Coventry or Millwall -- all linked with Phillips a few months ago, not be better options?

Depends on what offers are there for him I suppose. Needs to make sure he's playing where ever he goes anyway

stoke or coventry would be decent moves. both have good managers. abderdeen having european football is a nice bonus if he ends up there though. dont particularly rate the standard highly in scotland but palace seem to be looking after him so i'll trust them on any move

He took to L1 very easily so it'll be interesting to see if there is a clause that they could call him back if he was doing well in Championship for example, with a view to having him in the Palace squad, or maybe just a loan until Christmas

Has only had half a season of senior football so another year at League One isn't too bad. Others like Cullen had a couple of season at League One with good teams and had his first championship loan cut short after six months.

Jack Taylor similar when Peterborough got promoted to the championship he wasn't having the same impact and games were passing him by. Would be good if they have a recall clause in his contract and if there's interest from a championship club come January then see what happens.

It's definitely harder for midfielders than strikers or centre backs, there's just more of them out there that are of a good standard, with academies churning more out each year. Leads to less demand for these players from Championship clubs. Similarly things have gone quiet on Andy Moran also, nobody has followed up their interest in him yet.

He played a full season at Drogheda United before that half a season loan at Shrewsbury.

Forgot about his time with Drogheda. Spending one more season in League One isn't too bad though. Palace could well have a recall clause if things are going very good for him in the first half of the season.

Started last night but taken off at HT. Hopefully he'll grow into the team as the games tick by.

At least Wycombe got the 3 points in the end. They will be aiming to start climbing the table after a bad start.

I note today that he's getting flak from the usual tabloids/malcontents for not taking part in Remembrance Day-related things. I guess James McClean is too low in the leagues to be on their radar anymore?

I would like to see the Irish players who are made uncomfortable by this and would prefer not to wear it, to stand together, make a reasoned public statement as to why & leave it there. I am sure there are plenty of them and plenty ex player pundits also. I run a business in a forces heavy area of England, five bases within twenty minutes of the town, these people have never had anything bad to say to me over my not wearing one, not once in fifteen years of dealing with them daily. They get it, they are fine with it, we get along. Seeing the odd one out Irish player targeted down the years while the rest keep their head down is something I would like to see change.

Anyway, probably for another thread.

Seems to have been a fan favourite at Wycombe recently, but it looks like he's going to Aberdeen for the second half of the season. That will be a fair change of climate for him to adjust to, Pittodrie is absolutely freezing this time of year.

Loan transfer to Aberdeen confirmed. (Aberdeen Live, 28 Jan). Perhaps there is a thermal vest allowance in the contract :-)

Born in San Diego according to Wikipedia. That's a slightly different climate.

That could be a good move if he can force his way in there. Aberdeen might be long past the days of beating Real Madrid in European finals, but it still has to be a step up from League One. Jamie McGrath and Johnny Hayes have both been called up to the senior squad playing there in recent years.

I don't remember having seen him play (I'll change that) but according to TransferMarkt he's 1.9m (6'3").

There's a version of the future out there where we have the tallest squad in Europe.

Made his debut at the weekend coming on for 15mins. Though he'll have a new manager soon as Aberdeen decided to sack Barry Robson after their 1-1 draw with Dundee.
