Best attacking performance of the season thus far as Wexford created loads of chances in Ferrycarrig this evening, but they gave up lots of chances too to keep the excitement going right to the end. Wexford started with Alex, Frieler, Paul, Joe, Conor C, Conor B, Jack, Aaron, Adam, Harry and Lorcan. The goals started right from the beginning of the game. On two minutes, Cobh coughed up possession just outside their area, and the irrepressible Jack Doherty smacked it home for 1-0. Wexford then conceded an identical goal when they lost possession outside their own area two minutes later, and Cobh’s Desmond shot home for 1-1. Wexford pressed for a second goal but then, on nine minutes, Cobh shouted hard for a last man foul by Wexford, but nothing was given. Jack Doherty then almost got through on the Cobh goal again and followed this up by running through again before laying it off unselfishly for Conor Barry to tap it into the empty net for 2-1 to Wexford. At this stage, Aaron Dobbs and Jack Doherty were causing the Cobh defence all sorts of problems and Harry Groome had a shot which trickled wide of the Cobh post before Cobh fashioned a rare chance just before the end of the half but, from an angle, it never was kept on target. 2-1 to Wexford at half-time and a well-deserved lead for the home side.
