Bohs abysmal in the 1st half, better in 2nd half. Officials up to their usual standard.

Two hard games for Derry, both we could do with winning but Waterford are scrapping away and i think we'll be knackered Friday when we get to Finn Park. Harps have had the biggest slide down the table since a High School Musical character but they'll probably get 3 points the way this season has gone.

Drogheda v Dundalk will be a good match.

Will Dundalk be putting tickets for Sunday's match on sale anytime soon?

Yeah, wrong thread but the way we are playing currently could well be an accurate prediction alright!

If Derry lose away to in form Waterford tonight and then Harps on Saturday neither of which would be a huge surprise then wins for Pats over Sligo and Dundalk over Drogs would have 4th to 8th separated by 4 points.
Obviously the new Galacticos in Derry could spoil all that by being uncooperative and not losing both which is the biggest ask but its mad to even think it is so close

Galway should be winning the playoffs but i dont fancy them , they have flattered to decieve so many times this year.
It could go any way at all tbh.

Hmm not sure Derry deserved that tbh very flat play but a good result for Drogs :) . Out of interest, Hery looked very good when he came on in Utd park , why doesn’t he start?

Could turn out to be an important goal that late equaliser for Derry,Waterford kinda brought it on themselves though ,instead of killing the game which they were capable of they sat pretty deep and got caught with a sucker punch….

Good point, example being when they started killing their own attack by brining it into the corner with still ample time to play ….

What a game this evening, very entertaining 2-2 draw, the red and whites robbing a point in injury time against the blues, Ronaldo strutting his stuff on the pitch, oh and I think Man United had a game also tonight ;)

Absolutely heart breaking that, however we brought it upon ourselves, we could have sealed victory in the latter stages but for some reason the corner was a better option, poor decision making costed us dearly.

Is there any hope for a result against Rovers on Friday? I highly doubt it :(

I would say you have a chance id expect Bradser to shuffle the pack and give game time to some of the younger kids and others who haven't played a lot.
Everyone is talking about Aydemo the 18 year old who has scored a couple of goals but the 17 year old Conan Noonan is worth watching if he plays.

Huge game Thursday for Drogs/Dundalk a win for Drogs puts them at least temporarily into 4th , a win for Dundalk puts them right in it.

Fairly sure we didn't deserve that! Didn't turn up for the second half, and Waterford should really have killed the game off. Mentioned above, but going to corner during attacks was silly.
Once again, are ****-poor defending costs us.

Not sure why Héry doesn't start, yesterday would have been a good opportunity to do so with Harkin suspended. He'd add much needed size and strength to our midfield too.

Realistically, I think that's our chance of third place gone. Sligo have +4 goals on us, so they're essentially seven points ahead. They may not win another match, but we'd still need to win our last three games, which I doubt we'll see.

If we lose 2 games and ye win 2 then there’s at least a 4 goal swing (gap is 6 goals mind). We do play ye next weekend also. Hopefully Harps can do us a favour on Friday night.

Bircham did a bit of a Caulfield, dont lose away and go for it at home. It backfired with losing to Dundalk who even on the front foot leak goals but the damage was done when the sitting in tactic was done just before HT and then struggled to change it up, I doubt he really thought they deserved a point though you could say Dundalk deserved to drop 2 for not killing the game with all the missed chances. At home to Derry it was half and half with going for the game before trying to stick and run the clock down and let Derry off the hook. I dont recall too many games that end up with a good result when inviting a team on when sitting in, spoiling or going for the corners with plenty of time to play. It was especially the kiss of doom whenever Ireland did it, or brought on players to go 5 at the back or in midfield when well in the game over the years. It could have been 4 points for Waterford, definitely 3, but lacked some belief - understandable as well this Dundalk fan knows when at the wrong end of the table.

This Dundalk situation is really testing resolve with getting in touch of a possible European spot and then out of the reckoning, win tomorrow and its possible again, though i'd take a guarantee not to be in the play-off right now in lieu. Tough game away to the Drogs and Stanton will be be a big miss. The small pitch always compresses things and makes it a more attritional. It is the most fun away spot with a good crowd and atmosphere. A wee bit nostalgic for Dundalk to be playing on a Thursday night. Get a win, hope that the form sticks for Longford and it will be an interesting last day v Derry depending on other results too starting with Rovers to rubbing Bohs noses in it and push them down the table (for purely selfish DFC reasons, not a secret love or hate of either in the Dublin Derby!!!).

Keeps Dundalk in with a shout of 4th and depending on tomorrow nights results keeps Drogheda looking over their shoulder!!

Pressure is on for a few sides now and no harm. A lot of credit needs to go to the Dundalk players that are now grinding out ugly important league results, bit like how champions often do...

If you can get new owners in and hold the rest of the team minus duffy/McEleney together things might work out yet.
Considering the number of games McEleney missed you are really only down Duffy.

For sure, get things sorted quick enough and keep certain players and there is a basis of good side and not costing the earth. Fats is a quandary, injury prone, but when available turns games, Vitesse game for example, so always worth being on the books. Could blame frequent injuries on the Oriel pitch....

Ugh never nice to lose a derby game and such a key one at this stage of the season but sure isn’t that the bite that makes derbies great. Sure wouldn’t something be wrong if you weren’t in bad form the next day after a derby defeat.

I do think our part time structure is catching up with us in the final third of the season and Dundalk were the better side on the night (marginally). I do think we will stay up but next season but part time will have us really disadvantaged even more so than this year IMO.

Great atmosphere and fab Dundalk crowd - of course they sang their hearts out with trolling songs but again isn’t that all part of it and on the night they won and hence have bragging rights to rub our noses in it.

I did have to tip my hat to the Dundalk fans for their passion despite the peak6 nonsense this season.

Drogs, two tough matches left and we may well end in the play off spot but we will have to wait and see.

Fair play Sean, very gracious in defeat and to be fair that was a very funny P6 / Dundalk banner from the home end!

Great atmosphere last night, even though the Pats away semi final was probably a bigger crowd, decent turn out and with the obvious better result last night was best away for us since beating Rovers 1-0 in June 2019.

No 2, right full, think it was Browne ? is a decent player, hadn't really noticed him before, also lovely touch with reception Massey got when he came over to left side for second half.

Add in the two pints in the windmill bar, a great old night and everything that was missed during covid was back.

Finally, this game, was 7th v 6th at the start, with 3 games to go, almost packed house, it shows the benefit of a 10 team league, no slackers.

Yep James Browne, a real talent and we will find it tough to keep him for next season (hope we do somehow). He has both attacking and defending grade A skills.

Well that won’t happen as another 3 of their player on too of the two mentioned players will be in Derry.

All of Dundalks players are free to go regardless of existing contracts, thats 100% and came from a current Dundalk player.

Patching Slogget and Cleary will all be up here.

Dundalk doing a UCD, building league winning teams for other sides. It amused when the show was on the other foot, maybe a touch of karma.

No mention on the Rovers twitter of why the stoppage was needed. Don't think that's really good enough from them to be honest. (First response is a Rovers fan asking the club to acknowledge and condemn the behaviour of Rovers fans)

Have to say, when I saw the first post on it, I presumed it was "just" a flare, which is dangerous enough thrown onto the pitch. But what actually happened is a whole other level of dangerous. There'll be more said about that in the coming days I think. Can Rovers expect a fine for an away match? Maybe a one-game behind closed doors ban? I think it's hard to underestimate how incredibly dangerous that was.
