A minute’s silence will be observed at matches in Ireland this week-end as a mark of respect to the victims of the London bombings.



The recently-elected President of the Football Association of Ireland, Mr. David Blood, has written to the British Ambassador to Ireland, Mr. Stewart Eldon, offering his condolences and extending the sympathies of the Irish football family to the families and friends of those who were killed and injured in Thursday’s atrocities.

Everyone respected the silence, but next time some may need to think of putting their cell phone off. I heard that annoying Crazy Frog during the minute of silence, luckily the owner turned off his phone after less than 3 seconds.

Was one at the Brandywell but a few harps fans thought they'd act the mouth by laughing and talking during it!!Although most of their fans gave it full respect!

When there was one for the Pope in Drogheda, a fire engine outside the ground didn't respect it, and it's siren blared for half the "minute". :D

How many minutes silences will we need for the several hundred thousand victims of the Monsoon rains in India, Sri lanka, and Bangladesh? :eek: We'll need a whole half of silence to cover that. Alternatively, just watch any Home Farm game, as there's more noise in a phone box. :D

Yeah, twas respected by the majority of the crowd.
Little kids are always going to be running around not knowing better but there
was one oaf who kept yapping away to people even though they were clearly

Very difficult if you're a Gah supporter at the Ulster final according to tonights Herald.
