probably been done before; if so, I apologise - would be interested as to who people rate leaving aside rivalries and history as much as poss. - by which I mean stuff like we're supposed to hate Trevor Molloy because he's a junkie traitor blah - I still rate him as a player and I'd have him back in a shot - anyway, I vote for Georgie O'C - best player in the league this year

It has to be Jason Byrne - One of the best strikers in the league and a lovely chap. I would love to see him play for Bray again. :)

Stewey Byrne. Not surprised he's be a massive player for Shels. Wasted at the back for us in his final season.

have to say my favourite player from another club was liam coyle
used to go to watch the big man play in dublin even if derry werent playing the hoops and he never dissapointed
scored tons of brilliant goals used to love when he would score a cracker
would put the limp on to get taken off with about 3 minutes to go to get
the adoration of the Derry fans and me!
a legend!

Jason Byrne cos he's a great player and a ex-Bray legend.

Someone with no Bray ties would be Sami Ristila. I think he's a deadly player.

Robbie Doyle. Really enjoyed watching him play for us.

A tie between Kevin Doherty at Waterford, he looks a good player, and Alan Cawley at Longford :)

Aside from that, Robbie Doyle, for many reasons. First of all, as he's a technically good player with alot of flair which is always good in the EL. Secondly because he's an arrogant c*nt, or comes across as one, which gets crowds going, he's a kind of love to hate player loved by his own fans hated by the rest which I like, again it's good for the league to have players like this. And lastly and best of all, he píssed off Bohs fans in so many ways, espically with that last minute free kick and birlliantly over the top celebration. Class.

can we make this your favourite player from another club that has never played for your club previously... Bray fans fawning over Jay Byrne, longford over stue Byrne etc is a bit silly

John Frost, a superb full back

Houllihan at $hels. Brilliant with the ball at his feet, a joy to watch.

07/07/2005, 3:43 PM
Favouite without Harps ties would be either Houlihan at $h€l$ or Beckett from Derry

Have to say though my favourite player in teh LOI is Fergal Harkin - legend at finn park. Now can we have him back ;)

John O'Flynn, after seing him two years ago I would have never predicted he would still be here.Imo when he's on form he's twice the player Kevin Doyle is.Lets hope he does'nt get injured again.Although i admire Kevin Hunt, his loyalty andhe can play ball.

Andy Myler cos he was a legend goalscorer for us and one of the nicest people
you could meet. He gave me a lift back to Dublin from some games and he even
got his parents to give be a lift one evening. True gent.

Billy Boy Molloy cos he played for Ireland in the World Yths Championships
while still an Athlone player

Liam Coyle - Legend

I have been hoping City would sign Robbie Doyle for the last couple of seasons..he was very good with UCD but had not the best of times at Bohs..lately he is playing quiet well again despite the very sad news about his brother..

Other players i like would be..Mc Donnell(UCD)..Oman and Foley(Bohs)...

Doyle was excellent for Bohs before the off field differences had an effect on him imo.

When i saw Robbie Doyle a couple of seasons back with UCD i thought he was top class..his running at players with ball at his feet was superb and i was not surprised when Bohs signed him..but the strange thing is at the start of the last two seasons when a "Targets for the new season" thread starts on a City forum i seem to be the only one that names him..maybe i am the only one that can spot a decent player.. :D

Da Real Rover

Its gotta be Wes Charles, a true Rovers Legend.
Houlihan is pure quality too, a class apart.

Probably Wesley Charles for Bray(on loan to a Russian club now though), or Ian Rossiter for Finn Harps(ex-Rovers star)

Watching Doyle playing against us and Rovers this season for Pats and last season on TV where Shels won the league he doesn't seem near as sharp or effective as he was when he was at Belfield. Have I just seen the wrong games or has he lost his edge a bit?

Aaron GUFC
07/07/2005, 6:49 PM
Alan Murphy has to be mine. He was our top scorer for 3 seasons. i would love him to come back to Galway.

Followed closely by EL's Eric Cantona Damo Dupuy, PLEASE COME BACK!!

AND corks magician Geeeeooooorge O'Callaghan - words of Turners Cross Commentator person type chap

Mayo Red

My top three in no particular order would be:

Kevin Hunt - great player and great loyalty!

G O'Callaghan is a great player to watch.

Ward off Bohs for the reason above and Caffery off Pats and formally of Bohs because he is a hard grafter

im glad to say i had to think about this one for a whiile. Its a great sign for the league when there is a number of quality players to choose from.

McCourt, Kearney, O'Flynn, Byrne, Crowe, R Baker, Houlihan, Bradley, Robinson (a joy to watch on his day), Hunt, Heary T&O, all came into contention but for me George O'Callaghan is just another cut above the rest.

Kevin Hunt, good player and loyal.
Alan Kirby, great attacking player, gutted he didn't come to City when he left Waterford.
Would have liked to see Stephen O'Flynn play at City the second time.
Paddy McCourt recently looks very good.
Liam Coyle, natural.

John Caulfield
Caused many a miserable night for me...

He was having a good night last night in the Bank bar on Dame St, couldnt believe it when I saw him (Still a legend to me!)

Mine would be:
Hunt & Digger, both loyal and good old fashioned pros. Id buy them a pint if I saw them out (without putting arsenic in it). :D
Molloy coz it means that you get 90 min of hurling abuse at him + he plays $hit against City since he's moved from Pats. I love to hate him :D

For me i would go for Jayo (for all he done for Bray) or Fahey (a joy to watch with the ball at his feet)

I've always admired Pizza Hutton. Seems to have been around for ever, great competitor and would love to have seen him playing in a CCFC shirt.
