form royals.org forum on why Doyle failed medical -

"Apprantly turned up drunk and smelling of guiness at the training ground"

Big time wind-up merchants. By the way, why on earth is he having a medical for Reading today when he's playing for Ireland tomorrow???

not playing for ireland he pulled out.

he might get homesick for de beautiful city by de lee... ;)

He's actually from Wexford ;)

If he plays Monday, it'd be great as the fans could give him a last farewell etc, but he may not want to risk injury. The ball's in his court tbh. I know lots of ye will get all high and mighty; 'He's still a City player' etc, but realistically, this deal is happening. The most we can do for him now is givce him a great final memory of being a City player, not being petulant.

anyone else think that if he was with a club in england he would be worth way more than the money being talked about

Clearly. I think we'd be looking at 500k up. Sadly, this league is still not given the respect it deserves, and much of that is down to the poor managemnt by the FAI, and comments from people like Don Givens belittling the eL.

As I said earlier, it's the officials at City who put that clause in who are really belittling the league and the club. They probably thought it was great that they put it in at the time because it was a decent amount of money but are now looking stupid because he's worth a lot more.

Think big, act big, be treated big. Think little and the league will always be looked upon as fodder.

It's a fair point that had he been playing for a lower league English club he would've been worth a lot more.

I really hope Doyle plays for City on monday so the fans can give him a big send off. I am shocked that the club put in a €100k clause. What moron put that in there??? (Dolan?) Pat Dolan obviousley knew about it and considering his brother is involved with recruiting at reading, they obviousley knew about it too. Is Pat Dolan really a friend of CCFC?? Thanks a bunch Pat!!!

It now appears that Dolan put the cluase in.
All those who called for Gunther's head over it though are now back-tracking

That should be the motto for the eL. Events like this provide a prefect chance to plan for a developing future.

I think the man who used to shout that stuff the loudest has been shown to really believe the complete opposite.

exactly. I'm disgusted by what has happened, I really am. Doyler was worth 3 times this at least

Eventhough we did not want to admit it to ourselves we always knew he was a Spoofer.

Dunno.
I believe he IS worth that. But
IMO, i'd say if it wasn't for the clause,
Reading would have gone as far as €200k.
Wouldn't be too disappointed with €40k for Long.

Is there any transfer fee mentioned for Long yet? Hopefully we'll get a good deal that's not totally based on tranfer fee but rather sell-on clauses and appearance fees.

Also, I've been keepin an eye on that royals.com web-site. They listened to Rico's radio interview.

"Yeah, thats why I'm confused over the managers comments. Maybe he is just trying to mess us about."

- hmmmm, confused over Rico's comments. Well I never.....

Anybody have any idea how much doyler will be getting paid at Reading? I know some people think its rude to ask (and it probably is) but its interesting stuff. I've no idea how much he got at city but I imagine Reading could afford double or even treble an eL salary, no sweat. Don't think there's many of us who wouldn't change jobs if we were offered three times our wages...

Well they got him for a packet of magic beans so they can well afford to pay him well  :o
