Got a league start tonight, his first at Ipswich after a recent cup start. Was replaced on 57 after being booked on 52.

Hahaha ... nice typo (?) too, emnotional indeed. To be fair, I have hammered him on here at times too, but one of the rising stars of UK management spent three windows trying to get him to Ipswich because his good days are very very good. Tough team to get in now though, clearly.
Scores a screamer to take the lead against Wolves tonight.
Wonderful strike from Ipswich's Jack Taylor. From 2-0 down to 3-2 up!
Taylor collects the ball and he's almost 30 yards out and he hits a beautiful effort, it's too quick for Daniel Bentley and dips in just under the crossbar.
What a game! Premier League Wolves in danger of being on the end of an upset.
1:50 into this. Lovely strike.

Well struck, and something we don't see enough of from our current midfielders. I'm a little surprised the keeper didn't get a hand to it as it seems quite central, but maybe there's more curl on it than that angle shows.

The power on it would have taken the keeper by surprise too in fairness. Just a fantastic strike, and kinda similar to Obafemis against Scotland

On as a late (78 mins) sub for Conor Chaplin, away to Bristol City.
Second goal in two games for him today. Seems to be on a run of appearances and form… worth a look?

He must be close now, his club went joint top today. Has made the most of scraps of minutes late in games to play his way in more & started today, scored and was fouled for the penalty as well. Was there a standby list for the squad this week at all ?

Against NZ most players are probably worth a look. Would have been great to see a few players like Taylor, Azaz, McGuinness etc get capped.
It's a nothing game really and knowing a few uncapped players would make their debuts would make the game interesting and worth watching rather than watching for the sake of watching.

Couldn't agree more with this. The best think SK could have done for his last game is cap a few new players that are overage for the Under 21 squad and could be ones to fully break through next year. McGuinness, Azaz, O'Brien and Taylor would be all worth a look at this point. I'd leave Andy Moran with the Under 21s until next time around.

Don't understand why he isn't in the Irish squad, at least ahead of McGrath, who couldn't even make it at Wigan Athletic.

I wonder was there money issues re; McGrath at Wigan ~ Appearance bonus's and the like. There was always something weird about the whole carry-on there.

Maybe merits a look in the future but he has only played 280 minutes out of a possible 1440 minutes in the Championship this season. Hardly lightening it up, recent purple patch aside, and stretching it to criticise Kenny’s squad selection based on him scoring the weekend after the squad was selected …….

True, but at the time of the squad announcement on Thursday, Taylor had played three times more minutes since the last game against Gibraltar than Molumby(166 v 52). If you include the weekend's games for Ipswich and West Brom, it's four times as many(244 v 60)

I've seen him play in Division One as well where he was one of the best players in that division and it was no surprise that when Ipswich promoted him, they signed him.

got slightly lucky with the parry coming straight to him, but he's taken the chance that would happen with the run into the box

I wondered why Taylor was missing from recent Ipswich squads. He picked up a quad injury late last month and has been out of action since. He will be 26 in June, but was beginning to progress in the Championship: almost 1200 minutes of first team action in all competitions this season, 5 goals and 3 assists.

That's certainly enough of a return from a midfielder to merit attention from the new management. Hopefully that injury clears up soon. Probably Sykes is higher priority, and maybe one or two others, but there are some interesting attacking midfield options to consider, and if any one of them steps up to the Premiership we'll be in a much better place in midfield. We could really use some cover/competition for Cullen though.

I saw Smallbone playing as a 6 earlier in the season. Was organised, neat and kept the ball moving. Looked more positive in terms of forward passing than Cullen. Probably the best alternative option in that role.

That's worth experimenting with in a friendly if only so we have some alternatives if Cullen is missing for an important game.

Taylor one of four Irish players promoted to the Premier League at the end of the regular Championship season. Interesting that the four currently have a combined zero senior international caps between them. Also notable that none of the four came through the Irish system. Taylor and McAteer the two that are more likely to make any impact next season, I would look to cap both in June if they're available. Cannon and Harness may find themselves dropping back down on loan, neither have been getting a huge amount of game time lately.

Great performance from Ipswich to get promoted ~ ~ I hope they go well next year ~ ~ It won't be easy for them.
It’s a great achievement for Ipswich, McKenna and Taylor. I wonder will they have room for him next season? He’s had a good season but he’s also fringe and they’ll have to make a few signings.

Started and scored the winner in 1-0 Ipswich's pre-season win over Hoffenheim.
It'll be interesting to see how he fares during the coming season.
Wasn't a regular starter last season, but I seem to remember Stephen Hunt having an impact-substitute's role in Reading's promotion season, only starting a few games, and then becoming a regular once they were in the PL.

Off the bench against Southampton. Doing the little things well since he's been on.
Szmodics had a reasonable game before coming off.
O'Shea doing okay but has made a couple of judgement errors that would have been punished by a better team.
Ogbene didn't make it off the bench

Not exactly been clear how he qualifies for Ireland. Not exactly clear how often he's been over either - not least to the player himself when you read these two pieces.

Scores a late winner for Ipswich. A Premier League central midfielder who scores headers from corners - he should be perfect for us!

He was very unlucky in fairness, cleared one off the line a few seconds earlier and knew absolutely nothing about the one that went in, another Wolves player cleared the ball straight into his back and it went in off him.
