Time for a new thread.

Sheils gone from pike. Hardly a surprise.
Major departures from Pearse stadium by all accounts too

Surely a big surprise that Shiels gone from Pike, though given the squad at his disposal, last season would be deemed a disappointment,[Tuohy Cup winners],he was in situ for this coming season so to leave 2 weeks before kick off is bizzare to say the least, anyone know why?All happening up at the Fairgreen, plenty new players and another influx imminent.

Who’s confirmed at View, Fairkop?

I am not sure he will be a long term loss for pike giving he’s track record however losing a manger this close to the start of the season would not suit any club. Fairview have changed philosophy and in-fairness it looks like it has worked with high numbers in training and new recruits from a few clubs.

Dermot Fitz, mark slattary, rainsford and the GK for Nenagh to my knowledge.

Big move by Pike bringing in a Robbie Williams as coach. If he can sign a few they’ll be stronger than ever. IF.

Be an interesting battle. Fairview pike and boro

Fairview high numbers training , looks like changing philosophy worked. Pike will be tough to beat. The fai junior cup looks like a trophy that could be won easily, sheriff, Ballymun , tolka rovers , killester , cherry orchard etc all gone intermediate

The objection cup has lost some of its shine in my opinion

Pike Rovers 6-1 Janesboro.
Mungret Regional 0-4 Fairview Rangers.

League over

That was a serious pasting Pike gave Janesboro tonight. As bad and all as Janesboro were, I think if they'd Tommy Holland in goal it wouldn't have been as bad. Poor showing from their keeper.

Defensively they were poor, lacked so much leadership. Pike will win the league and fai this year.

That boro keeper won’t have to worry about going around getting his picture taken with the league trophy every week this year.
After last nights show it’s remarkable he didn’t drop it :)

😂 In fairness the keeper in question can see the funny side of most things. What has happened down in Pearse Stadium, have they just taken their eye off the ball after so many years of success? Mass exodus over the summer by the looks of it.

The new league format is a joke Fairview Balla and Prospect have to play 7 matches away and 4 at home and all the rest have 6 at home and 5 away. How did they came up with that one.

That’s a disgrace in fairness, balla and prospect depend on home advantage. Who is the brains behind that?

Regional United 2-1 Mungret Regional
Prospect Priory 0-8 Fairview Rangers
Janesboro 1-0 Aisling Annacotty
Ballynanty Rovers 3-2 Coonagh United
Geraldines 2-2 Pike Rovers
Nenagh 1-0 Kilmallock United

Balla using their get out of jail free card this morning. Should've won by more, Coonagh sit deep and break quite well and that's pretty much what got them two goals.

Rainsford got 3.Byrnes 2,Mann 1,Lipper 1...left before last goal so didn't see it.View flying it and after the routine win v Mungret they looking very strong squad wise.Pike with late leveller away to Dines which after their hammering of Janesboro will feel like a big comedown.See they won v Aisling anyone know what their lineup was, weak enough looking v Pike.

Pike have a very small squad however I think with the new manager in place will attract very good players

Pike will be very hard to catch , Fairview also have a lot invested so would expect to cause pike a few problems.

Good win for Balla, reality check for star studded View who had plenty possession but did not create enough, good win for Mungret ,Kilmallock did their usual capitulation v Pike ,thought Regional might keep up their record however its 2wins on the trot for Janesboro,Aisling??jesus that's brutal form ,big win for Nenagh tbf.New league format was brought in with no club consultation ,poorly thought out with too mant flaws.only right it moves back to norm.

I don't think the dividing of a division is a bad idea, but how they managed to mess up the fixturing is beyond me.
A team should have 5 home and 6 away in the first phase (or vice versa), and 5 home and 5 away in the championship phase.
A total of 10 home and 11 away for some and the other way around for others.
After that, if people want to complain about some clubs having one more home game than others they can get stuffed.

Shearer, two teams in the premier had just 4 home games and seven away. There was definitely no thought put into it. But looking at kilmallocks results last night their is definitely need for change. Maybe be a 10 team league.

It's mind boggling as to how the fixturing was made a mess of. The changing works more in the favour of the bigger clubs (who now only have to play the other contenders twice) more than the lesser clubs (who will now have to play Pike and co. more than once).

Shane Clarke (who is only around 29) scored 45 goals last season - 7 less than Jonathan Grant and 17 more than Arron Nunan. He was playing for the Irish Amateurs as lately as May in a Jersey Tournament that they won.
While I might concede that he is not as good as he used to be, I think that saying he's passed it is over the top. He's grabbed two goals in the two games he's played this season also.
Aisling Annacotty have 0 points and 1 goal after 3 games, and so to say that they should have passed up on one of (if not the) most prolific striker(s) is outrageous.

Massive signing for Aisling which will shock the football fraternity, obviously Aisling are throwing huge resources at this so Clarke will be under immense pressure to justify the whole thing and so will Aisling mgt.Top striker in the country but does not mean this marriage will be a success,if it is a success Aisling could be a force to be reckoned with.Strange he left so early in the season and was he not captain of Janesboro?,.....then again Simply Red I,m talking bout money ..money.

Shearer you probably need to read slowly, where did I say he was passed it?? And where did I say the manager should have passed up on it , according to the managers (mike ahern) interview last week AA were a club that didn’t believe in going down the route of some clubs in limerick paying players if you haven’t seen it I’ll send it on to you, he actually mentions it several times that’s why I said I was shocked he sign him. Also Finishing ahead of Aaron nunan isn’t a huge compliment. He is a very good player and will score for AA and best of luck to him.

Ah Jesus I'm sorry about that Kenny I'll put my hands up and say I read it wrong.

I'd agree that he's past his best but the level he's at now is still better than most.

I also thought the part where you said you were surprised the manager signed him was in reference to him being past it.
I saw the interview with the AA manager and I 1000% agree with you, it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the news this morning. After moaning in an interview only to do a massive 180° only days later is laughable.

My reference to Nunan was only due to him being the third top scorer last season.

In hindsight I fully agree with your post.
