it is interesting to note how players who couldn't score in a fit for UCD are scoring freely for other clubs........
Ciaran Foley scored on his debut for Shamrock Rovers last night in the RSC.

CollegeTillIDie
13/08/2005, 6:37 AM
According to CTID's stats above, he scored 17 goals for us. If that's scoring in a fit, he must be epileptic!

Schumi

Ciarán scored almost half of his League goals in one season when he was top scorer for the club.

Glen Fitzpatrick certainly isn't scoring freely. Even at Rovers, I think about ten goals was his max.

10 goals in a season for Glen was 250% increase on his return at UCD hence my point!

Kieran Foley's on one goal for Rovers now - that's an increase of infinity percent! ;)

I assume Glen scored four goals in one season for us? That's an increase of 150%, not 250%! This from the same person who reckons Derry's attendances are down 600% - must teach you your maths! :p

4 x 2.5 = 10 last time I looked! Derry's crowds are now 1/6 of what they were ...

Poor Student
13/08/2005, 7:20 PM
If 4 = 100% then 8= 200% and 10 = 250%. Therefore 100% going up to 250% is a 150% increase.

pineapple stu
13/08/2005, 10:28 PM
Similarly, if you reduce a number by 100%, you reduce it to nil. Reduce it by 200% and you reduce if to minus what it was in the first place. Reduce 100 by 600% and you get -500. You meant the attendances reduced by 83%, as, say, reducing 600 by 83% means reducing it by 600 * 83% = 500, or reducing it to 100.

Schumi, feel free to move this to a separate topic and let it get buried in time! :p :o

Our record overall is dire.
We played our first League Cup game in 1979. We did not win our First game till the beginning of the 1984/85 season.
The year we got to the final 2000/2001 was the first time we got past the first phase. In the present century it has improved and we have reached the quarter-final last year and the final this year.

Eugene Davis came to UCD on loan for the final section of the 1984/85 season. Because of being knocked out of the Cup relative early he only got to play 6 League games and 1 in the Reserves. He scored 5 goals in the League and a hat-trick in the reserves. His return of 8 goals in 7 Appearances makes him our most prolific striker ever. We let the semi-pros go at the end of the 1984/85 campaign he returned to St.Pat's but was released and joined Bray Wanderers the following season, which was the final one of his career.

Derek Swan came out of retirement to give UCD a dig out in the 2000/01 season. He scored 5 League goals during that campaign as we avoided relegation via a play-off win over Athlone Town. The former Bohemian and Shamrock Rovers striker, retired again at the end of the season as work commitments interfered with his availability for training and ultimately matches.

Andy Myler joined UCD in 1993. He was in and out of the team over a number of seasons chalking up 48 League appearances (including those as a substitute) and scoring a creditable 13 goals in that time.He was very inconsistent during his time in Belfield which would account for his low number of games played. He has since scored 100 League goals for other clubs including Monaghan United, Athlone Town, Drogheda United and Longford Town. Andy is also a good goalkeeper and lined out in our reserves in goal on a few occasions when the regular keeper was either injured or sent to the line.

16 goals from strikers though isn't a bad return. Problems are elsewhere with regards goalscoring...

Pat McWalter's your top scorer?!

I'm very surprised. I think he scored 3 against us in the league.

I make it in the league
Bohs away
Longford Town home

In the FAI cup
