As noted in the match thread, I e-mailed the Faroese tourist board about the Faroese culture nights, and got this reply...
Sorry for this late reply.
The Faroese nights start on the 21 of June. But I will ask the organizers if
they can arrange a night for you on the 7th June.
I will contact you again as soon as I've know something.
Sincerely
Kunningarstovan
I've e-mailed back saying I'll have a look see what numbers we can get to let them know if it's worth doing one specially for us. So if you're interested, leave your name here and I'll run a list. Handy as well for meeting up on the day and putting faces to names, I suppose! I'll post any further news here too. Just wanted to put it in a separate thread so it doesn't get drowned out in the main match thread.

Record high temperature ever is about 21 Celcius, I think! Put Faroe Islands and weather into google and you'll get some good info...

Hadn't thought of that one!! I reckon the Faroese night will turn into one big Irish sing song. (With a bit of whale blubber to chaw on). :D
and puffin pie, if there are any puffins left

I should point out again that there is a cost of 300Kr (about E40) for this, payable to Pineapple Stu, c/o UCD F....em... :) I mean...the Faroese tourist office - presumably on the day. So it's not a turn-up-for-free-food dealy.

Wish I could get some of the family to come with me but the wife is having a baby shortly after this match (worst case scenario, during the trip)
How thoughtless of her! Poor family planning there TP- Couldn't you have timed it to happen later in the off-season :D :D
Good Luck to you & the missus though!

Update from the tourist board...
Dear Kevin
They can arrange something traditional for you but they need a guarantee for
min 30 persons because they will arrange this only for the Irish fans.
So do you think there is interest for this?
Sincerely
Kunningarstovan
I've replied saying that we have 17 so far, with hopefully more to come (globaltravel to provide a few hopefully), and have asked when they need an answer by. But we still need 13 more from here to be sure to be sure. So who else is going? Lopez and Sylvo have been mentioned - are they around to confirm this themselves?

Good lads! Could do with some of that to lighten up this rather tedious day. I'm bored stupid here. Very slow day at work. God bless foot.ie !! :D
Here is something else to keep you busy. im going to put together a CD for us in the house when we are over. Now im sure a friendly publican could be pursuaded to play it in the pub on the night of the game. Any suggestions of what you want to have on it??

All the usual suspects - My sister has the today FM CD, and there are few off that going on it. Ive to sweet talk a publican into letting us play it yet :D

I always dreamt of going to the Faroes. As I posted before, I am obsessed with the Far North and Scandinavia since the moment I first looked at a globe when I was a young kid.
But I won't make the trip. I couldn't do it to support against the Faroes. Then on the other hand I rather see Ireland qualifying than France and co... Hard choice to make...
Let's make it a draw and then see Ireland beat France, Israel and Switzerland. Everyone happy then :)

Nope. Don't forget Norway is my favourite national team, and that I also support them when playing my native Belgium. The other Nordic countries come just behind Norway.
The only game of the Belgian team I ever went to was BEL - Norway, and I supported Norway.
If Belgium plays Faroes or Iceland tomorrow, I definitely go supporting for the Nordic boys.

Noway has the potential to play excellent football, but appoints the wrong coaches all the time. Semb had a golden generation, but didn't dare to play more than 1 striker... Such a waste of talent...
But I stand by the team, in good and bad days. It's called supporting. After 10 years I won't just ditch Norway because of some less attractive games or bad results.
My second favourite national team BTW, is Iceland.

Is it the big blonde girls or the big blonde blokes that float your boat?

Sorry should have read your quote on another thread before asking that question!
