Looking at the North’s starting 11s for the nations league and Jimmy Dunne would have started every game at centre half.

He’s a significantly better player than Ciaron Brown, Eoin Toal or Ruairi Mcconville and at least one started all six nations league games.

Mcconville could ultimately become a better footballer than him - but saying that, if Brighton really believed in him at all, they wouldn’t have been selling him for £1m and buying Eiran Cashin (who can’t get into the Ireland squad) for £9m in the same window

Actually he wouldn't have. For in all six games, Michael played a Back Three, with Trai Hume on the Right and either Ballard or McNair in the centre, depending on availability. I don't see how/why he would have displaced any of those players.

While Brown (3 appearances) and McConville (1 app) are both left footed and so played as LCB. Dunne might have got in ahead of Toal (2 apps on the left) who I think is right footed. Then again, I'm not sure whether Dunne has ever played on the Left, either in a three or a four?

Anyhow, defending wasn't really such a problem, since we only conceded 3 in those 6 games (scored 11), incl 4 clean sheets.

Though there are a couple of other positions where we could certainly do with a player of Dunne's standard, I'll give you that.

No, I wouldn't. - that is your interpretation, not mine.

Facts are, Bradley is in a different league to Dunne (literally) and at 23, Hume is a nailed-on starter in his natural position at a significantly better team than QPR. Also has 19 international caps. While Devlin is playing RB for a similar standard team, but is 6 years younger; ditto Spencer, who is 20, with 18(?) caps. And of course, we've got McNair, Paddy McNair, so there's one thing you gotta understand, he is an Ulsterman, he's better than Zidane, he's Paddy McNair from Ballyclare...

But I'll give you this, when Dunne does sign for Real Madrid, then I'll revise my opinion and move him up to, let me see, third on the list?

If Dunne was from The North you'd be saying he's better that prime Paul McGrath

So why don't you "play the ball" i.e. what I actually post, rather than the "man"?

Ah I was only winding you up a bit for the craic, no malice intended

Jimmy Dunne can of course play in the left of the three. Do you really think Jimmy Dunne doesn’t start left of a centre halves ahead of a good league 1 player (Eoin Toal), a borderline championship/league 1 player (Ciaron Brown) and a teenager who has played a total of 30 minutes of senior club football (Ruairi McConville)

In fact, here’s a list of players that Dunne was picked ahead of who would also start for NI at centre back somewhere in a three:

1. Shane Duffy
2. Mark McGuinness
3. John Egan
4. Eiran Cashin
5. Anselmo Garcia McNulty
6. Sean McLoughlin
7. Liam Scales
8. Just maybe Joe Redmond (you won’t agree)
9. Just maybe Emmanuel Adegboyega
10. Just maybe Josh Honahan

That’s not including the injured players

1. Andrew Omobamidele
2. Jake Clarke-Salter
3. Luke McNally
4. Darragh Lenihan
5. Gavin Molloy

If you were going to cynically cap a dual eligible player you'd probably throw Abankwah on ahead of him late in the game on Sunday if the tie was in the bag, though Dunne is more deserving of a cap I think.

Good to see the Ciaron Brown, Ruardhi Mcconville Paddy McNair and Terry Devlin did so well against Sweden. I retract my previous remarks that Jimmy Dunne would definitely get into the NI starting 11

Alexander Isak for that matter, too.

Dunne won QPR player's player of the season and supporters player of the season last night. No sign of him signing a contract so presumably he has two games left there. Would a newly promoted club give him a chance, or is it more likely to be a top end Championship side such as Middlesbrough or Sheffield United if they don't get promoted, or a relegated team like Ipswich?

Multiple reports linking him to Sheffield United. Not clear if they are renewing their interest now because they didn't get promoted, or whether they would have gone for him either way.

That's probably that in terms of his chances of ever getting back to the EPL.
