no mention of it on the setanta website but most irish places should have the "unofficial" rte coverage ;)

This is a decent site for seeing what match is being shown where around the world:

So far it only has RTE listed...

It will not be on in England unless a Irish pub has access to Irish channels,Sky never have Ireland away matches,BBC and Channel 5 have only had Ireland on once in recent years to my recollection.
I would be grateful if anyone knew a site on the net I could watch it on.

i will be in Germany during the game, i contacted 2 irish bars who guaranteed me, they are showing the game, one, kilians is even showing the china game!!!!! i have now emailed the head barman again to ask what channel etc hope they can provide some details. i would have thought sky would do it as it is a wcq! i would not have thought that the 2 bars in germany would have rte access, maybe they do, will let u know if they are aware of the channel..... :D

check this out!!!!!! if this is correct, they are showing the Poland v Azerbaijan game instead of ireland away, obviously cos they are in england's group (sky sports 1) but of course they are showing ireland's home FRIENDLY with china

what are they showing on sky sports 2 and 3 though,, maybe it is not confirmed yet. setanta USA are showing the ireland game! if u are in england there has to be some irish bar showing it, if they are showing it in one in munich, they have to show it here, waiting for news from munich, prob is rte they have.

Answer to your first question who will they have on Sky 2 and 3 proberly England,Scotland or Wales they show most of there away matches even thou they are all boring to watch.
Its difficult watching Ireland matches where Iam there are not many Irish pubs and they would not show them anyway.I was thinking about getting RTE does that show all Ireland matches even away matches.

england and northern ireland is on bbc and on earlier than ireland's (1500 i think) scotland v italy is on bbc scotland and wales play at 1500 also, can't see why they won't, would get a lot of viewers like yourself. i think plastic paddy watched an ireland game on the net recently, not sure what website though, are u there PP? tell us the secret..

guys for anyone in london, these pubs will be showing. your man who said about getting rte. you can get an irish sky card, which will have the irish channels on it but you will have to pay for an irish tv license also. you get me??
all pubs in london showing the games ( definate )
claddagh ring
the quays
the corrib rest
the fairways
the spanish arch
monaghans wood green.
and id say waxys will show it on the sly.
I live 50 yards from The Corrib Rest so if anyone will be in NW6 let me know. In the past they haven't shown some Ireland games though. Also, we've yet to win a game I've watched there so maybe it's not the best idea. It's not a lucky venue!
They've only recently got the Irish SKY Card I think.
I also suspect the game will be on Sky Sports Extra, or on one of the others. The Swiss game was on Sky but was only officially added to the schedule a few days in advance as far as I can remember.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you have Sky digital? If so, all you need is an Irish card. If you haven't got Sky digital you'll have to get it or a satellite.

I use NTL which is basically the same as Sky just under a different name.Where Iam confused Is ,In order to watch Ireland matches on RTE would I have to get the Sky Sports package or could I just take out the cheapest package and still get RTE with the Irish card
byrnie20

OK so as you said in a previous post I would have to get an Irish TV lisence and a Irish card to watch Ireland matches in England

You need Sky digital and an Irish viewing card, that is all. There is a slot in the Sky digibox to put the card into. If you are finished your contract with NTL, scrap them and switch to Sky.
"I use NTL which is basically the same as Sky just under a different name."
No its not. :)

I will not be able to change to Sky, lets just say I have a good deal with NTL.Can you watch Ireland any other way i.e can you access RTE through the internet by paying for It ?

We noticed a few weeks ago that there was going to be very few places watching the game. Hopefully somewhere will pick it up. As for the Quays in Holloway, i have watched some of the games there before, and it doenst tend to get a great atmosphere/not many people.
The wishing well in Crouch End (formerly the fiddlers) may be a good shout, I will find out if it is definitely going to be on.

I think McGovern's in Kilburn also has the Irish viewing card. It certainly used to. And we've actually won most of the games I watched there. These things are very important to me!

aye they are ****e, the spanish was the only good one. the quays is ****e anyhow, and a rip off dont go there, if i can dissuade even one person then woohooo!!! that fat gaaaaaalwaaaaaaaaaaaaay ******.
stuttie mcgoverns in kilburn sure do. i'd say most mcgoverns will do.
i'd also say the inn on the green will show, hughie likes hte money too much.
the crown will prolly show it.
wishing well in crouch end i doubt has it baby óg. most wishing wells have big irish crowds in them ( and ive been in a few!!! ), but rarely have rte. i cant say about crouch end, ive been there but never asked. but there is an irish pub down a bit from there, i cant remember whta the name of it is. but i'd say there is a good chance they will be showing it. on another note, have you ever been into that rakka place with all the brothers in it. plays brother music all night. i went in there with a few 2nd generatino lads and they were giving out constantly ****** this ****** that, so then i asked one of them would they be with a black girl, and he comes out with nah there the wrong colour for me.
toolins and the erris might have it in finchley.
The Quays is sound for a saturday night out. Its a laugh nothing more.
For the football, its not great. The Big wishing well in Hornsey (not the little one in Crouch End) has a new-ish Irish manager. He is really trying to repair the damage of previous managers. I have a feeling he has RTE, but I can double check.
Which Irish pub down the road from it did you mean?? I know the area very well, and there are a couple of good pubs.
As for the Rakka, i dont know where you mean off the top of my head. :)

Bloody typical. Useless idiots. Maybe local time applies to wherever you're reading the website from. It's like the Tommy Cooper gag:
Man makes a phone call: "Hello, is the the local swimming pool?"
Answer: "Depends where you're calling from" :)

Know of any other pubs? I'll give you a clue O' Raffs, Wood Green £1.60 a pint Sunday - Thursday, and pretty certain - as the manager is an Ireland fan (and an all round great bloke - any chance of two free pints PF) that they will have the game on.

Fair play, they've scored 11 goals in their last 3 games so it should be fun. :) Stokes is certainly the one to watch. Its a tough group though. Serbia won all their 3 matches in the last qualifying round and England are decent at all levels.
