Great tune. Dunno if it gets the andrenalin pumping as much though. Sure if we get one song past the censor we could open the floodgates.
I'm suggesting a medley of WTSHNN/Que Sera Sera/Come on you boys in Green for the start of every match. Get all the troops raring to go. WTSHNN over the PA and let the fans take over from there. A good start is half the battle as they say. I dont think people will be afraid to sing during the game after that, might even get the suits singing aswell.

I went for "Where the..." but would like "Boys are back in town" as well alhough it's already used by Leinster rugby so I don't know how well that would go down with people other then myself and Schumi.
On the Gloria Gaynor thing the Europeans love that 'Na na na' bit towards the end, they played it (as in just that bit)after the French won Euro 2000, whole place was going nuts. In fairness that part of the tune kinda suits football.
well perhaps this 'la la tune' is a must when the French fans come to town - they'll look after the singing of that I'm sure.
We could also get that band to get the french trumpet fanfare going, as heard at French rugby and occassionally soccer matches.
My french mate does an excellent immatation of the trumpet fanfare, and in a pub during Euro 2004 when France beat England he got the whole crowd (French & Irish fans) respondig to his minicing fanfare throughout the game. Great stuff!

Anything by Thin Lizzy is always good, although I think the Boys are back in town is a bit 'boring' for want of a better word. Some of their other stuff would be more refreshing - 'Don't believe a word', 'dancing in the moonlight, 'waiting for an aliby' etc
All good tunes but I can't see them getting the crowd going though, they're not really relevant to a football game.
U2's Beautiful Day wouldn't be a bad choice maybe.

My top three would be
1. WTSHNN
2. The Boys are back in town
3. Beautiful Day

Speaking of Irish bands - anyone remember Whipping Boy?
yeah they were a classs band.really liked their music.

Yeah I think Beautiful Day might be the best U2 one nice and upbeat, and slightly easier to sing along to.
Bono changed the lyrics to Beautiful Goal at Slane after the Dutch game(not that that makes it any better of a tune but just some useless info!!)

More useless info:
Morrissey changes the whole of 'Roy's keen' when he sings it live, as an homage to, well Roy obviously.
"have you ever seen a keener midfielder?"

As was said earlier, by numerous people, all thee songs would be great played in LR, but for a short piece of music for coming out of the tunnel, I'd still go for WTSHNN

yea its carnival de paris by dario g. i think its a great advert really captures the atmosphere and passion of fans going to games. they released carnival de paris for the world cup in 98 and i was gutted we didnt make it as they made the song from traditional music of the 32 countries involved. it would have been great to hear some irish music on it :D :D
i agree with blobbyblob.its more na na na na na na na na na

Not sure about it being rewritten as Vindaloo, weren't they both for France '98? AFAIK it's based on "My Darling Clementine", only speeded up a bit. I remember the lads from Dario G (named after Dario Gradi - Crewe's manager!) saying it was supposed to be the most popular terrace anthem around the world, so that's why they used it for the World Cup.
So, what's carnival de paris got to do with Gloria Gaynour???

When the day is dawning,
and three more points are callin'
How I long to be there
When Robbie Keane scores for me
Every lonely city
Where i hang my hat
Aint as half as pretty,
As where my Keanos at
Is this the way to Germany oh?
Every night ive been hugging my pillow
Dreaming dreams of Germany oh
And Robbie Keane who scores for me
Show me the way to Germany oh
Ive been weeping like a willow
Crying over Germany Oh
And Robbie Keane who scores for me
Sha la la la la la la Keano
Sha la la la la la la Keano
Sha la la la la la la Keano
And Robbie Keane who scores for me

Seems that the la la song, vindaloo, and carnival de paris are all the
same thing based upon "oh my darlin clemtine"
Agreed?

"definetly not an entrance theme, but yeah you're right - play the most suitable bit of the song after we score - but more appropriately straight after a win - fcuking hell I wish one of us had the job of the music guy at Ireland matches instead of some lame dumbass

Not the entrance theme, but one of the main warm ups. I'll never forget Amsterdam when they played it about 15 mins before kick-off. The whole crowd was hopping. Obviously it helps to have an ultra modern stadium with a fantastic sound system but even still it was great. That said, I'd had about 8 pints and quite a bit of Amsterdam's finest and by and large life was just wonderful :)
WTSHNN for the intro still for me.
I honestly don't think we need music for when we score.
I'm not mad on the Carnival de Paris. I know it's popular across Europe but I just can't differentiate it from Fat Les and the legions of yobs that follow the Brits.

speaking of Holland - the organisers who play the music at Lansdowne always fail to miss an opportunity. With 10,000 Dutch supporters and 30,000+ Irish supporters at the Jason McAteer game in 2001 it was the perect scenario for "The Red Rose Cafe" to be played. This song is well known in both countries. No imagination

"Many thanks for your information received."
"In actual fact we would consult the International players on which music rouses them on entry to the pitch and we have had various discussions with some fan bases around the country."
"As I am sure you will appreciate it is not always possible to please everyone given the short space of time we have for song playing"
"I will however pass on your comments at our next event preparation meeting."
Many thanks for your query and continued support."

They should really take it on board. A big part of the success/failure of the FAI is down to how the paying customers feel. They should open their eyes and keep the customers satisfied.

Forgot to mention this before but the FAI did commission a special piece of music at the time of their re branding.
It was written and performed by Dervish and would be perfect. (It may take time to get used to).
I must dig it out, upload it and post the url.
