Cork don't have a reserve team either.
It's not for want of trying.
We have tried but can"t find a competition to enter them in.

Lads when I started the thread I was hoping for lots of arguing between premier and first division fans.
Is there not a possibility with the FAI deal up that the PCA are considering a breakaway? Get a TV money pie for themselves?
Liscening out the window. The money launderers will flock back to our clubs. No one will know what anyone else is paying. Cash everywhere.
A return to the good old days basically.
Are we still talking about the League of Ireland here ?

Have the FAI confirmed the number of games to be played in both divisions next year and the relegation-promotion play-off format?

The fixture list will be released before Christmas - who knows if we'll get confirmation before then? The clubs are working on the basis of a 36-game season but that means bugger all as the FAI could change their moment on the morning it starts.

Premier format will be 36 games you'd imagine, First Division is anyone's guess. Probably won't know First Division fixtures until end of January if we're lucky.

Good for them. Some teams will play 2 games.

Article in the sun today claims it will be a 27 game season in the FD. FD clubs looking for 2 auto promotion spots with 3rd v 3rd bottom play off but FAI will most likely go 1 up 1 down and 3rd V 4th in FD with winner playing 2nd in FD before winner of that game plays 2nd bottom in PD, all over 2 legs.

That all sound sensible to me. a long 36 game season could be v difficult financially for struggling FD clubs.

36 games would be a killer, would mean 4 idweek games, which for any first division club would be difficult. I hope the play-off spots are as reported, at least it gives teams further down the table something to aim for, anything would be better than the season just gone

Half the fd at least in with a shout of playoffs until near end of season.....should keep people interested

Play the 'mid week' games on Bank Holidays. Scrap the blank cup weekends. No need for any significant number of midweek games.

Isn't there an agreement with the cup sponsor that no league games can be played on cup weekends??

probably is an agreement but surely to God the sponsors could be asked to "allow" first division games on the same weekend.
Its unlikely to deflect the National medias attention and might actually help the first division to have a weekend to themselves...I know I would probably go to a FD match on a cup weekend.......I have a lot of those weekends free :(

We played Drogheda same night as a cup match this season.

3 rounds of games and a return of the First Division cup would be nice.
