The draw has been made for this year's Collingwood cup. It's in Limerick this year starting on Monday week and going on to the Friday. UCD have UL, St. Mary's and Magee in their group, with UL being first up on the first day of the competition. Draw here (http://quis.qub.ac.uk/iufu/colldraw05.htm).

So what team are we sending to that? Think it alternates between the Freshers and the Superleague squad (I was training for a while with the team that went up there one year! One of the Betis made it up). Isn't that where Pat Burke was playing well last year before getting injured again?

One of the Betis made it up). If the freshers+ were playing the Harding, I'd imagine it would be the inters + some of the under 21s. There's no real reason to send an understrength team as it's pre-season, may as well give the players some competitive match practice.

Isn't that where Pat Burke was playing well last year before getting injured again?Yes.

So that's the Collingwood won as well, then?! :)

Don't jinx it! We lost out last year without losing a game.

UUJ and UCC are usually stong, UUJ usually have a few IL players and UCC have a few City/Ramblers heads but a lot less than UUJ. The RCSI group is a joke, if DIT don't win that I'd be surprised (DCU are woeful).

0-0 draw with UL yesterday and St. Mary's have pulled out so it's likely to come down to who beats Magee by more.

UCD beat Magee 5 nil yesterday with goals from McWalter (2), Conor Salmon (2) and Paul Byrne. So UL must beat Magee by more than 5 goals today to progress. Anyone know wat will happen if they score 5? Draw lots?

I haven't found anywhere online anyway. The UL website seems blissfully unaware of the competition and any other sites mentioning it just have the draw at best.

On further inspection, the Examiner are giving it some coverage: http://www.irishexaminer.com/pport/web/soccer/Full_Story/did-sgXTPbkI0dgwYsg0aewFBADppk.asp

Podgo's playing?! How on earth did we not beat UL with that team (or at least, a team with those scorers)?!

The Irish Times are usually good for scores in their Sports Round-Up section, I think.

From the Collingwood website (http://www.skynet.ie/~jsoccer/collingwood05/groups.php?group_id=4) - UL only beat Magee 2-0, so we're through to the Cup semis. We're playing DIT today at 2:00, with the winners to meet either UCC or DU (also played at 2:00 today - Trinity are managed by Robbie Mac's dad!). UL are into the plate final.

UCD squad is as follows -

Aaron McEneff
Brendan Fingleton
Brian Shortall
Conor Daly
Conor Sammon
Derek Doyle
Gary Dicker
Jason Bowers
Jimmy Hussey
Kevin Lagon
Kieran Harte
Neil Gallagher
Neil Keane
Patrick McWalter
Paul Byrne
Ryan Coyle
Seamus Long
Sean Geoghegan
Shane O'Connor
Stephen Cashen
Stephen Hurley
Steve Dillon

Manager - Diarmuid McNally

There's highlights of the UL game on that site here (http://www.skynet.ie/~jsoccer/collingwood05/video1.php) with hilariously biased commentary. :D

Into the final (http://www.skynet.ie/~jsoccer/collingwood05/fixtures.php) tomorrow at 2:00 v. UCC. Thought the results were knocking around somewhere, but I can't find them at the moment...

Incidentally, DIT have (an!) Éamon Zayed in the squad!

Way! Scores updated - we won 2-0. No sign of scorers yet though. UCC beat Trinity 4-2 to set up a repeat of last year's final.

We're kicking off in a couple of minutes...

3-0 to UCC.

UCD had the better of the first half with a really strong wind with them but UCC went 1 up with a free against the run of play.

Second half UCC dominated and scored two more.

Four in a Row lads...:D

Well seeing as UCC are such a class act why don´t ye apply for el membership? After all there may be a vacancy at the end of the season ;)

Yes, I believe DIT did have Eamon Zayed in their squad, until some team apparetnly reported him. Maybe they were scared of what they had to face?? I see from Maynooths squad that they had a Rovers player playing so what of it?

Well if he was a student he'd be legit so unless Bray had issues with it there should have been no problem.

He must have been eligible, 'cos in fairness, you're only drawing attention to yourself with a name like Zayed! Especially with underage honours and cross-channel trials and other eL players playing the tournament!
