Killian Brennen at Derry City really stood out for me.

Mark O'Brien. Sadly, it will be Bohs who will get the benefits of his talent next season.

At Limerick it had to be Jalmard Kulsten. Unfortunately now of Sligo Rovers it seems.

I would have said Declan O'Brien of Drogheda. He came from nowhere to have a great season and was well up there in the goal scoring charts. If I were to put my biased Cork City glasses on I would go with Kevin Doyle. Fantastic Season. Had he played up front all season he would have been close to being top scorer and even player of the year

he'd a great season alright, but he was not exactly new to the league. last year was his fourth season with us since his move from verona in the lsl, and his third in the premier, so he doesn't actually qualify to the original post

Conor Kenna for us (from Shels' U-21s). Quality player. Also Darren Quigley (Kildare County's U-21s?) and Willie Doyle (Bohs' U-21s) if he can break his scoring duck early on...

I didn't realise he was around that long. What were ye feeding him last season :D Technically it was Kevin Doyle's second season I suppose so I can't count him either then. No new players really stood out in the league. Maybe Danny Murphy, Cork's left back
For us it was Chris O'Connor, he's 1st real full season with us and he was outstanding. He he keeps his rapid progression up i fear we'll loose him to a club over the Irish Sea

Have to say that I don't even remember O'Brien when he played against Bohs.
BOhs best young player was Stephen Ward.

Not to put down a Shels player and all but people outside of Shels really over rate Alan Moore imo. He was outstanding in some European games yeah but the majority of his league form was pretty poor. Now he had played around 15 months straight football in fairness to him, but he has alot to prove this year.

have to agree with this as well :D
Killian Brennan - thought he was very good and now going full time should get even better
Joe Gamble and Mark O'Brien were the outstanding players for me.
O'Brien especially

Ahem, and Jalmard Kulsten (Limerick FC).
Conor Kenna (UCD) came from Shels U21's and was outstanding last season. Even though it was in the 1st Division, he kept many strikers quiet and is one to watch out for in the Premier Division this season.

What about 1st division Chris Breen for No.1
If I haven't heard of him foesn't get in Poll. Only the best 1st division players would be included.

If you haven't heard of a player he doesn't get in? How do you who the best 1st division players are? Surely the fans of first division clubs would know since they go to matches. On what basis is Dupuy included, but Breen Kulsten and O'Connor excluded? The eL doesn't have 12 teams.

Absolutely - but isn't it ironic to say on a post that includes a poll that this isn't a democracy. :) Just saying that the poll is not very representative if he is loading the nominations. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care - it is just symptomatic of the general ambivalence towards the First Division. :ball:

I think Kulsten should definitely be added- he looked very good the few times I saw him.

Why not? Gamble was excellent when he got into the team, its no coincidence that City had their best run of the season once he got in the team. He got my vote anyway

i read that in eric cartman's voice. im such a child :(
i voted for joe gamble
I would vote for Danny Murphy who i thought was excellent for Cork City or as per me post above i would give it to Conor Kenna (or he should at least make the shortlist). He's a very good young defender who had an excellent season imo.

If correct he should have been in poll too. too late now though...sure he'll only spoil the shel$ vote anyway ;)
For what its worth i think Moore was good in the European games but didn't stand out enough in league games.
