Someone from the Sun is regularly on here lookin for something to write as they can't think of things to write themselves...This isn't the first time foot.ie has been in there.
foot.ie was mentioned in the Star in relation to the Keano/Portugal Thread as well. It seams as good a place to get a fans comment as any....
The FAI spokeperson stuffed the 'fai doesn't even recognise him' arguement.

Its obviously a bad joke if you have to explain it ;)
Good stuff.....a fair write-up.......shame it was that rag...... :o
despite my ideological differences with that publication and the individual who owns it, it offers better coverage of the eircom League than any other paper.

It was hard to fault the amount of el coverage in the Irish Star on Sunday yesterday given that it is still the close season.

The Star must be the worst paper in this country. Always looks like put together by primary school kids.

Have to disagree, I've done a reasonable amount of research on tabloid press in my course and the Star generally comes out on top. Their layout may not be appealing to you but there is a very sensible and effective system in use in how they position and allocate stories as well as in the general design of the paper. The Star isn't my paper of choice either but they target their market well and it shows in their very, very, impressive sales figures (second biggest selling daily, of any size, in the country).

could someone type up what the Oirish Sun said about this site? As for the Star, the Daily Star in the UK is a pile of trash, just check the football texts section for a cross section of the meatheads who read it...

I've already mentioned this on the actual 'irish jersey' thread on the Irish Team forum but for those not dipping in and out here's the lowdown. Again a foot.ie thread was the basis of an article in the Irish Sun on Saturday. There were quotes from a few of us used in the article. Sorry don't have a copy of the actual piece. Any one else see it? See the original thread for a further explanation

Just goes to show exactly how lazy and incompetent these tabloid "journalists" are. If this is how they "research" football stories, how much effort do they put into their current affairs coverage? How much is reposted from Indymedia and Politics.ie? Lowest common denominator rags the lot of them, anyone that buys them is a fool.
adam
The fact that no one really cares that tabloids are lifting "rumours" off the web tells a lot about the expectations.
If the IT did something similar there would be a lot of negative publicity around it.

Ah,but maybe we should all be flattered by the attention they give us;clearly they don't want to find other sources, when they can trawl through all the combined 'wisdom' on here! ;)
Agreed, regardless of how lazy it is surely it's better than getting a quote from Alan Hunter on the issue!

The greatest contravention of the Kyoto Treaty Protocol is the chopping down of trees to be used to print The Sun on. That heap of thrash is only good enough for toilet paper. The "journalists" only writes slander and junk on it, AKA Hillsborough Disaster 1989.

Never liked the Sun; I read the Star tho' - they normally have a reasonable amount of eL coverage - unlike the Indo & Times. To be honest I read papers starting from the back page & finishing wherever the sports section runs out! - so i dont care what else is in the Star (plus the fact that i get it second hand from the father-in-law so i never have to actually buy it meself - that helps! :D

foot.ie got another mention in the indo today, specifically the thread for a new entrance theme for the seniors at Lansdowne, it's in the In Off The Post section of the football coverage

Dunno if it's a good thing or not, hacks have been known to frequent message boards and mailing lists for rumours, doll them up a bit and present them as fact.

I personally think its great that we can get our points across to ~1000 times the amount of people that are registered to this site on matters that need the media to get involved in. I know the site is copyright but thats up to Adam to take action. :)

I know the site is copyright but thats up to Adam to take action.Actually the copyright belongs to the users, which is why people should be keeping an eye out for their own posts. If more than a small section of their post is quoted ("fair use" or "fair dealing"), they could legitimately charge the Sun a fee for using their copyrighted work, or take them to court for using it without their permission. Copyright rocks, but I only own the copyright of the stuff I write here meself.

The site was mentioned in todays Star:
"Supporters have been logging on to the popular foot.ie fan site in droves to put forward the prospect of a Croke Park playoff.
But last night a GAA spokesperson said their dream was unlikely to become a reality.
GAA chiefs are insisting the builders will have to move into creaky old Lansdowne Road before there's any chance of a Croker match".
Foot.ie was mentioned in the star again yesterday re: the should robbie keane be dropped thread - a couple of quotes taken from it too

Plenty of Star email addresses in the member database. If they do anything untoward I'll just delete the lot of 'em. Fascism rocks!
I wouldn't worry about it though, Star readers probably don't understand most of the words.
