Tommy wouldn't actually have to do anything other than show up on the bench but I suppose for appearances he would have to go alright.

I think that's why they removed him from the shortlist.

Hey Pat, thomas72 from the internet says he's never heard of this guy Nuttall.

Jesus, get rid of him asap.

Would you really have Boland instead of Russell...I don't think Russell was going anywhere but appreciated he had a way of playing which I agreed with but his downfall was not having or getting the players to implement it. What do we know of Boland other than he'll save money and a few people have decided to fuel his cause for no apparent footballing reason. If there is a footballing reason I'd like to know

Bit early to judge that really isn't it with Boland and Russell. Russells way of playing was a massive part of the problem he is a very poor manager and sacking him was the correct decision evrn if the new manager is no good it was still the correct decision just the following decisions on who to replace him with were poor which wouldn't be a surprise considering the current boards record of appointments.

Bwa, we all know you hated Russell. That's grand. We all want the same thing which is us winning as much as possible. I think you are wrong in your assessment of how to achieve that , but that is the wonderful thing about football. We will both rejoice when we get there, and we will get there, but we all appreciate different ways of getting there. I am disappointed with the club ownership to this point. Its been classless, and we deserve better.

CraftyToePoke
07/05/2017, 12:22 AM
But then if and when we do get there, isn't so much credit due to that same ownership and the progress made since they have come in ? By that I mean if you look at where the club was for the 25 years prior to their influence. We were disappointed not to get the better players in the country in the off season, but tisn't so long since we couldn't get the better players in Limerick even. I am ok with the time being taken over this appointment on two levels, one is shows Russel wasn't a dead man walking in his last weeks here, by that I mean someone lined up while he was still here, but also this next phase is key in the clubs journey, this appointment does need to be the right one definitely in order to fulfill this clubs potential. And can you truthfully say Russel was going to deliver that next step ? It didn't look like it on or off the field to me.

I don't hate Martin at all and I never have been even close to he is lovely fella and was always nothing but polite in his dealings with me. I do however think he is a dreadful manager. Look at the state of some parts of the squad even based on the fact that even with a top 5 budget the man couldn't sign a player for the life of him had the club not stepped in to sign players we wouldn't even have Tosi, Ogbene,Hery and Robson

FOM lets not take facts out of context. Under Russel this season we had 7 points from a possible 18 with 4 of his six games in charge at home. Under Boland we have 9 points from 18 of which 4 of his games in charge were away.
Not to mention Russells previous record with us in the premier league. But when do facts ever play a part in a good argument. I believe if Russell was still in charge we would be relegated again. So for me its Go Anti Russell Brigade!

I can't agree with this sentiment. Under Russell, on the basis of its PL record, the only way we were going was back down. Boland had a bad result last night, but we're still in the top half of the table.

So lads what's going on? Is Boland our manager for the rest of the season? Is the interview process over? Why was there even an interview process if Boland was getting the gig?? It's a full 5 weeks since Russell was sacked..

Andrew Cunneen has an article in today's leader about the management situation in Limerick. Some interesting names mentioned. Announcement to be this week.

NeverFeltBetter

That article here: http://www.limerickleader.ie/news/sport/248678/limerick-fc-expected-to-unveil-new-manager-this-week.html

Neil Redfearn, once of Leeds, Lee Clark of Bury among the names mentioned.

I remember Redfearn. He was once relegated from the Premier League three seasons in a row with three different clubs in the late nineties. Not that we should judge him on a managerial basis on that, just one of those eye-raising trivia things that sprang to mind.

Heard Craig Hignett might be in by end of the week but don't take it as gospel just a rumour.

Would be a great appointment on one level.

He would be Boland and Gamble's man which could potentially mean a first teamanager who actually has total control over first team affairs for the first time in I don't know how long.

Of course that's a double edged sword if he turns out to be terrible!

Lims4ever
08/05/2017, 9:50 PM
Russell had to go just did not have it tactically to change games when needed id say motivation was a problem aswell going by some of the displays this season , has Boland improved that for me certainly not and does not deserve the job , somebody like lee Clarke would be great ruffle a few feathers too many in the comfort zone , if be happy with consolidating our place in prem comfortable in mid table would do me this season we don't have the squad simple as that

I know of a candidate who has made the final stages of the "interview process"

A man who has arguments with fans during games.

A man who shouts abuse at his own teams youngsters.

A man who's record in his last job reads:

P 11 W 1 D 4 L 6

I also know that of the other candidates who have made the latter stage of the "interview process" two told us **** off one is back in Ghana and another one is the corpse of Mick Cooke freshly liberated from Glasnevin cemetery.

We all excited?? :ball:

LK37oldskool

I you referring to Kevin Nugent?

Jofspring

Had a look through Kevin Nugents record and it is extremely underwhelming. A lot of very very short tenures at numerous clubs in numerous different roles.

This can't be true. Nugent has nothing to offer. I reckon this is a late April fools joke.

bluewhitearmy
12/05/2017, 7:19 PM
If it is him this is from Barnet fans forum.

"For me the only positives that can be taken from Nugent's time here is his willingness to give some game time to Cojocarel and Shomotun, who I both rate. That's literally it.From me he gets no credit for getting the team to put in some ok performances without the results to match, as with the squad we have it would take some truly awful management not to achieve this.He also gets no credit for being a "nice guy", as he's shown no evidence of this - quite the opposite in fact.He demonstrated absolutely nothing to suggest that he's an improvement on any manager we've had since Cottee. He's had ample time to make the job his and win fans over. If anything, the circumstances he was put in were kind.

The majority of our fixtures were against teams below us in the table, and he was given additional games to show what he could do after the Notts County debacle because TK felt that the injury situation was reasonable grounds to give him more time.Nobody wanted him to fail. We were just outside the playoffs when he joined - anyone who wants a new manager to fail when taking over in those circumstances isn't a supporter, quite frankly. He chose to keep making the same tactical errors every week, he chose to insult and embarrass his own players and supporters and he chose to make endless excuses and blame his predecessors for everything without ever taking responsibility. He had his chance and he blew it, spectacularly. He did not deserve more time and, rightly, he will get no more. The only sympathy I have for him is that his management here was so incompetent that he will have trouble getting anything like the same opportunity again"."

Then there is of course the story of when he called up a lad from the youth team berated him during the game and told him he was heading straight back to the youth team during he game.

Jofspring

If Nugent does get it you would wonder do clubs even look for references when hiring a manager. The amount of clubs that sign managers that other clubs have had bad experiences with is staggering. Especially in the LOI.

Lim till i die
13/05/2017, 8:04 AM
I still reckon he has to be a ruse. It's like someone is laughing at us.

He's far too obviously terrible to be true like!

Rather than putting out nonsense it would be better if the club actually went about hiring someone imo.

Coming up on week six is getting farcical at this stage even by our standards.

And even if someone is hired over the weekend we've now maneuvered the new manager into having Dundalk at home as their first game quickly followed by two away games in a week.

thomas72
13/05/2017, 12:05 PM
I said two weeks ago that we had to TRY and get someone that knows or league if this rumour of nugent is true then that is a worrying appointment a guy who has done f all in management who is apparently a pig of a man on top of things it will turn out to be a disaster why ffs are we going after people like this he shouldn't of even got an interview never mind the job.

Jofspring
13/05/2017, 12:25 PM
Again a big if, he gets the job then I would say I have no problem him getting an interview as you need to explore options but most people have found out within a few minutes search that his managerial career to date has been awful and his reputation is bad too. Lets just hope the club have seen this already and it's just a rumour thats getting out of control. About 2 weeks ago people swore blind to me that Roddy had got the job then it was Tommy Barrett and Willie Boland. Only time will tell.

NeverFeltBetter
13/05/2017, 2:16 PM
Taking way too much time now. A few weeks ago I was happy out as Boland seemed a perfect interim appointment, but this is taking way too long. Reeks of indecision at this stage.
