View Full Version : License Appeal Results
Home Farm have confirmed they didn't get one according to soccercentral (http://www.soccercentral.ie/viewstory.asp?id=14615&mainheading=Eircom&viewstory=yes) but unfortunately it's only because of outstanding paperwork, and it should be sorted
I'm sure i'd have a different view if was City but surely clubs can't be allowed to fail on missing paperwork indefinitely? Why can't the licening committee just make fone call to club & ask them to deliver certain documents in person?

RTE are probably trawling our websites too for news of this?

That's a joke that they have to do that. The 3:00 press conference sounds like something the FAI just threw together after people contacting them all morning. Maybe I'm being cynical here, but...idiots!

How many appeals does a club get?

that only 9 clubs got licences 7 premier and 2 1st division. This makes the league AGM very interesting tomorrow lets all wait for the big fudge again which will be another nail in the coffin of el football.
This is the 2nd year that clubs have ignored the warnings but after last years fiasco I can see the FAI letting them all off the hook again. The UEFA Licence is the only way to regain any credibility for our league if it is not enforced the clubs who are guilty of reckless trading and putting their own clubs in danger of folding will be the ones who are rewarded.
Dont blame the FAI or the Licencing Committe the problems are entirely of the clubs own making.
Article on eleven-a-side (http://www.eleven-a-side.com/ucd/irish_soccer_detail.asp?newsid=15963) claiming that the Premier clubs who haven't made an announcement yet - Waterford, Bohs, Longford, UCD and Rovers - have all failed. Just to clarify, this is complete nonsense and shouldn't be believed.
As previously stated, Waterford have made an announcement, and have received a licence. So yes, complete nonsense.
In defence of the FAI  "official" notification was by post today, so maybe 3pm was set to ensure each clup got the letter.

We got ours I know. Agree with you that this is a club issue. The criteria are not that bad, hard work involved but we all say we want a professionally run league.

But sure the post comes at 8 or 9 in the morning! Seven hours to open a letter?! And weren't clubs informed by phone yesterday?
Meant to mention that about Waterford - cheers for pointing it out. Nice to see how hard it was for you to type the words "In defence of the FAI" though! :p
Edit - from the Longford (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?p=221343#post221343) forum from BreakingNews.ie - we've gotten our licence.
But sure the post comes at 8 or 9 in the morning!

Are firts division clubs allowed to apply for premier licences? How do we decide who gets promoted if a premier club fails?
It now looks like four teams didnt get any licence Dundalk,Longford,Kildare County & Limerick and only 4 Premier Teams got Premier Licences Shels,Harps,Drogheda and one other. All the rest got 1st Division licences only allegdly.

Waterford the sticks?! Ah now!
Yeah, okay, the post can come a bit later down the way, but the current situation is a nonsense. Sure Harps are the first ones here to post notification at 9:00am - think Ballybofey is about the most "in the sticks" that you'll get in the eL!

Are first division clubs allowed to apply for premier licences? How do we decide who gets promoted if a premier club fails?
No. And apparently we don't. There's apparently no power of relegation/promotion. A three-point penalty would be fair - not as drastic as relegation (which would probably so more harm than good as budgets have already been drawn up and contracts agreed on their basis), but would show that the eL and the FAI are at least taking the issue seriously.

And for those who dont get a licence at all the Leinster Senior league beckons fact not fantasy.

Apologies...give the final word to Mr T, who I know knows what he's talking about!...
If one or more Premier clubs do not get a Premier license they could be blocked from compete in the Premier, BUT a First Divsion Club (incl the team relegated from the Premier) could not replace them as they did not qualify in competition to play in the Premier Division.
but you will find out he is wrong on this. How would a 3 point deduction matter if only one team goes down some slap on the wrist that would be.Action has to taken before next weeks AGM or the league will be kicking off next year.

If you finish two points off Europe, it'll matter!
Three points penalty and a fine seems to be a common penalty - ask Kaiserslautern.

Whether or not teams can (read: will) get promoted/relegated on the basis of the UEFA Licence.
taken from dundalk.com
Dundalk Football Club expect to receive their UEFA License early next week after discussions this morning between CEO Sean Connolly and Bob Breen of the FAI. "We are practically there and only have to comply with a number of small legal issues in order to obtain the license. These issues should not take long to resolve and may even be completed by the end of the day".
Issues to be resolved
The awarding of the UEFA License has been delayed until the following two areas are addressed:
1. The receipt of an Auditor's Certificate to Practice.
2. Confirmation by the club's auditors of an existing standing order.
Speaking to dundalkfc.com, the CEO added that "it is unfortunate that this has held up the awarding of the license but we are happy with our progress. It has been a long and arduous process and I expect that these minor problems will be ironed out quickly and that another piece of the jigsaw for our plans at Dundalk FC will be set in place."
what i cant seem to work out the deadline has passed so the clubs get another appeal/ deadline ????
is that fair ???

...that only 9 clubs got licences, 7 premier and 2 1st.
I count 11 as of lunchtime (8 and 3)
Finn Harps
Shelbourne
Drogheda United
Bray wanderers
Derry City
Cork City
St.Pat's
Waterford United
Athlone Town
Galway United
Monaghan United
The only clubs that have admitted that they did not get the licence today (so far) have been Longford and Dundalk from what I can gather, though there seems to be concern about Kildare, DCFC and surprisingly...Bohs.
That eleven-a-side article says waterford have failed, though AFAIK they've confirmed they've received theirs.
dublin city haven't got a license as well?
ONE thing that is for sure is that the league has found itself back in the same place it was last year, in a total f*cking mess !!! I think we should nominate the chimps in dublin zoo to run the league next year!! surely they could do a better job

fault Brian it is the clubs fault full stop. This is the 2nd year in a row some clubs have chosen to ignore the criteria and as ive said before the licence is the only way forward if clubs wont adapt they have to be sanctioned.
Bohs have got their's according tohttp://gypsiesweb.proboards14.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&num=1108126443

it is up to the league to punish the teamsHave patience, the results were only announced today and there's another week before the final decision. We'll find out soon what action, if any, the league will take.
how come Shels got the Press Release before everyone else does Ollie have to approve it before they can release it.

GUFUt I always like to read your posts but one thing does come across and that is a deep dislike for the fai and admin of the league to the point it appears that it is eating ou up - let it go man - for your own good.
I presume SHels are on teh FAI official mailing list as Fintan also gets the suspensions lists etc pretty quick.

Some of the things that they failed clubs on 1st time round were just silly ! They could'nt be seen giving clubs like Bray, UCD, Harps etc.... a licence when clubs like Rovers or Shels had major ommisions from there froms
