Great to see another youngster breaking into his first team. Hopefully he and the other recent Championship debutants (Kelly, Shodipo, O'Keeffe, Field) can hold onto their places and give us extra options in the next couple of seasons.

I didn't know what his International situation was so I gave him a quick google.

"I'll show England what their missing" is the first headline I see.

If his main goal after getting an Intl call up is to prove a point to another country, it's not totally encouraging.

Not to mention the terrible grammar.

This lads story has been discussed elsewhere. He played for a kind of England reserve under 17 s 2 years ago and also for our under 17s. No chance he was going to make their side for the euro s that summer but was picked for our squad. At the time he was at Rochdale I think and was just making the move to wolves. England lads on big soccer were not fussed that he had switched http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/english-players-dual-nationality-thread.2019295/page-9#post-32639094. The arsenal lad mcguane played for us in that under 17 euros but then switched to Brits . No point making a drama about it obviously he may leave us but unless we stop picking lads who have dual nationality that's always goin to be the way. There were plenty saying Randolph was rubbish and could **** off when he talked about been eligible for the USA 4 or 5 years ago but I don't see many whinging about him now.

If you bothered your arse to read the article you'll see he went away with England and went away with Ireland the following week. He weighed up which he preferred and he preferred the Irish set up.

You have taken that line out of context. He doesn't say it like a jilted lover who goes out to shift someone in front of the person that dumped them to make them jealous.

He had the option to play for either country and picked us and I'm sure his old man is proud.

TheOneWhoKnocks

I did read it.

Ronan said:
“I’ve seen a few of them (England players) around the hotel and had a chat with them.
“I’m looking forward to playing England and showing them what they are missing really.”

Anyways, we'll see what happens down the road. No point arguing about it.

The only 3 lads in our under 19 s this season who have played first team in the uk are Ronan O Keefe and Barrett . All these r English born with dual nationality. Let's stop picking lads with dual nationality for our underage sides to keep towk happy .

TheOneWhoKnocks

Where did I say anything remotely like "I want him" or "I don't want him" in the Intl set up?

Sure we don't need any of them, we can pick Paddy Madden instead.

Wrong of course. The other article above sees Connor referring to both his father's parents as being Irish-born and he's aware enough to mention the counties so I'd imagine there's a strong identification by his old man.

Sure we don't need any of them, we can pick Paddy Madden instead.

Well, at least with Madden we won't have to worry about the inevitable saga of what country he is going to play for.

Don't understand the derision towards him.

Regular goalscorer (albeit at League One level), good movement, can play out wide.

Going off his appearance against Wales, he can't possibly be any worse an option than McGoldrick, Best, Rooney, N. Hunt, Sammon, Cox and any number of options who have got call ups over the years.

I'm sure the derision is towards you, not Madden.

He's not cap-tied to us and he's eligible for England through residency.

Not a bad write up. Plenty of room in Irish squad for an attacking midfielder! Wolves reporter from last night's game v Wigan
''Is this kid for real? Showed up some of his more senior team mates with his tenacity, desire and his quality in possession. Great technique, great energy and has the vision to back up his many attributes on the ball. Set pieces were, again, excellent and he swung a great free kick onto Edwards' head for the chance of the match. Looks about 12 but unleashed a rocket of a 30-yard screamer in the dying seconds that the keeper tipped over. Forget about the future, Connor Ronan is ready now. Not overawed at all. Three starts in a Wolves shirt and three 8/10s from this reporter. Keep it up Connor.'' 8/10

John Fallon reports that the FA are keen on convincing Ronan to switch to England, although he does also reassure us that the player is "fully committed" to Ireland: http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/league-of-ireland/burke-and-bone-bolster-bradleys-ranks-at-rovers-35455505.html

Meanwhile, Connor Ronan's scintillating form at Wolves is catching the eye of English FA coaching staff. The 18-year-old winger has represented Ireland at underage level for the last two years having initially represented his native England in an U-16 tournament.

England officials have enquired about Ronan's allegiance through intermediaries. However, the youngster is fully committed to Ireland and is due to play in next month's U-19 Euro elite qualifiers in Belgium.

Have all of Madden's (numerous) under-age caps for the FAI been in non-competitive fixtures? If any of them were in competitive fixtures, in order to be now eligible for England, he would have to have possessed British nationality at the time he first represented the FAI competitively.

TheOneWhoKnocks

Fallon also said Grealish was committed.

Grealish never played for England before he played for Ireland though.

Iceland squad with a carrot of going to a WC before he hits 20 if he keeps performing at Wolves. Protect the asset and see the colour of his intentions nice and early, put it to bed. (yes I know a friendly cap doesn't tie him DI :) )

Few re-assuring things about this lad. To have the mettle to come back from a tough injury like that is great going at that age. Also, he's already experienced the England camp and sided with us which is brilliant. His Twitter is awash with references to the Ireland national teams too.

This insecurity doesn't stop rearing it's head!

Irish midfielder Ronan drops down to League One in search of more games http://the42.ie/3780107

Ronan has moved on loan to Portsmouth until the end of the season. Portsmouth lie in the play-offs spots in League one so they're going well.

Into the Portsmouth starting eleven for their draw with Scunthorpe and played 71 minutes - looks like a prudent move on his move - with Wolves chasing promotion they will likely stick mostly with tested first team players for the next few months http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42587591
