Three games into the season in Switzerland, and Ronan is still to make his debut for Grasshopper. They're also taken another Wolves player on loan, Brazilian striker Bonatini,

They’ve taken a few Wolves players, have any of them in the match day squads yet?! Don’t think I’ve seen any of them. Strange one

Yes saw he scored, I was thinking about the earlier loans. Looks like Dadashov and Gomes also went with Ronan. But I see Gomes has been playing (I had been looking for his first name Toti), but can’t see Dadashov. Looks like they signed another guy Yang from Wolves too. Seem to have flooded Grasshoppers with young Wolves players. Appears to be poor planning on the face of it, especially if Ronan is fit

Ronan just tweeted that he's just back from injury and delighted to be back in time to make the u21 squad, which explains his absence for last few weeks.

You want to:
Give Ronan his senior debut in what's probably going to be the most important away game in the qualifiers
Play a defender in centre midfield, ahead of actual central midfielders Molumby, Knight, Hourihane, and Byrne
Play a full back in central defence, ahead of Clark, Collins, and Lenihan
Drop Hendrick completely (who's been good for Kenny), along with James Collins, Hourihane, Travers, Browne, and McClean

Did you not read the incessant rambling in the Dara O'Shea thread? Despite never playing there professionally, he's basically the best defensive midfielder in the world.

Also Conor Ronan's 10 games in the Swiss 2nd tier has over prepared him to play as a 10 in a World Cup qualifier if anything.

a) When you choose a team you choose the best players who can play together and are compatible (see the trouble of gerrard and lampard) and fit your system i like to play with a # 10 to roam around.
b) Of course on Ronan I would have given him this 7 matches before to win the spot, I watched him in the Toulon tourney, best player, and him O'Connor and Connolly were outstanding. Plus he is a real number 10, (another option there, could be Callum O'Hare who isnt available yet, and the Johansson kid who is the same case). Or Jack Byrne, but Ronan is more agile as at # 10.
c) Molumby, Knight, Hourihane cant play the holding midfielder role, O'Shea can play there in the position is as a libero / sweeper but placed further on the pitch just ahead of the back 4, and when attacking he covers the spots, we defend with a back 3 with Coleman and Stevens in attacking positions.
d) Play a full back in central defense, ahead of Clark, Collins, and Lenihan ...... Yes, Doherty is better on the ball than any of them, can make a great partnership with Egan, I think Mick McCarthy did the same with Kenny Cunningham. Clark is cover for any of them.
e) Drop Hendrick completely (who's been good for Kenny), along with James Collins, Hourihane, Travers, Browne, and McClean. Yes our problem is in midfield, we need one of James McCarthy / Hendrick / Hourihane, McCarthy for me is an exceptional player to play the role of the experience mid, next to him a young midfielder to add hussle and pressure, could be Molumby, Knight, Browne but for me Cullen is the better of them all, plus he is very tidy to keep possession.
Travers or Kelleher and an experience playing keeper.
McClean sadly is not fitting my system, only as a left back. but we have cover there. James Collins or Sheridan, I like Sheridan more because he played C.L and in europe, better player. Experience is important.

dont be rude! Check Marcelo Bielsa pocket book, His players have to learn up to 3 different positions besides their current main posiition. Today henderson played as a centerback.

Two goals and MoM performance today against Aberdeen. If Jamie McGrath can make the international team playing at St Mirren, can Ronan finally come good and get a call up? Talented player and still on Wolves’ books, but a bit of an enigma that he is still being loaned out at 23.

It's a strikers finish. Controls the ball, delays the shot, and finishes bottom corner. McGrath did well in the build up too. Playing alongside McGrath will only benefit Ronan when it comes to making a possible senior squad.

Based on his positioning for both goals it looked like Ronan was more or less the centre forward. I wonder was that a coincidence or is he playing more as a striker rather than an attacking midfielder? Anyone who can bring a goal scoring spark to the team has to be worth consideration at least.

Looked to be playing a 3-4-2-1 with Ronan and McGrath supporting the striker. Though would often drop back deeper in the first half at times looking for the ball.

I don’t understand why he is not playing at a higher level. Wolves have had players a lot less talented than Ronan over the last couple of seasons. It just seems strange that they gave him a contract extension and keep loaning him out. It’s not as if he’s 19 or 20.

When Tommy Coyne was the capocannoniere At Celtic in Scotland he shouted his goals in anger the same way vs Rangers as Ronan did

Needs to work on his Portuguese accent to fit in with the first team squad. They must see something in him because why else offer him a year contract. Think we'll see him breaking into the Irish senior squad next year if he stays injury free.

They have been playing together. McGrath is only out for a couple of weeks. Maybe the rest is no harm. I wouldn't feel too much for McGrath, if it's sympathy you're offering him. Decent and steady Championship club hopefully at least.

My view is missing the international window in Nov( assuming he misses it) won't help his transfer chances. Also
I do wonder is the championship the right place for him? What about Belgium or Holland or even Spain?

To be fair, international windows have very little to do with whether a player will get a move if clubs are interested. They are evaluated based on their club performances and standard over a multitude of games. International recognition helps maximize transfer value and wage negotiations to an extent but a missed window (which i think is unlikely given his managers comments about recovery targets) is not a deal-breaker for interested clubs - and clubs that have been interested in McGrath long before Kenny brought him in.

As you said clubs were interested in McGrath before he made his debut and still will be interested as the lads out of contract soon. Was nearly on the move on deadline day. His appearances for Ireland could help him negotiate a better contract for himself and if he walks on a free it's better again as he'll get a better signing bonus with no transfer fee involved.

I bet Hibs are raging they couldn't get a deal done in the last hour after Middlesbrough pulled out. Whether he stays or leaves in January there's positives for Ronan. If he leaves then Ronan becomes their main man in midfield and they'll probably play with him behind two strikers. If McGrath stays it gives Ronan another few months to strike up an even better working relationship with McGrath. Could even see both of them playing together in the friendlies come March.

It doesn't look like he is going to miss the window.

Wouldn't be adverse to him going outside of the UK if the opportunity were better. A positive window would help in that regard.

Can’t understand why he’s playing at this level. Wolves gave him a contract extension but have never given him a chance. I’d love to see him get a chance for Ireland. I suspect he’ll take to international football, and then maybe managers will wake up and realise what a talent he is.
