Didn't see the next live match mentioned in any of the links above. Many outside of the LoI community browse this forum. No harm having a thread to let people know when the next live game is on. Missed the game on EirSport last Saturday. Hadn't come across any mention of it.

Friday 14/Oct/2016:
Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk, RTÉ 2. Kick-off 19:45.

Yeh my Saorview guide has a game down but no details. I'd imagine the only game they can realistically show is the Cork Pats game.

Despite what some listings say, Cork v Pat's tomorrow is NOT live on RTE2. Pat's have just tweeted confirmation of this

That's a pity. With us having no game tomorrow I was looking forward to watching that game.

Maybe not a match for the purists but Wexford v Harps tonight is massive for both sides.
A wexford win and its only 3 points in it.
Harps win and they're safe.
Big Harps travelling support going down.

With all due respects to other teams, live games should be for the league's finest silver.

Maybe RTE will go all out next year and show a league game from somewhere other than Oriel, Tallaght or Turners Cross

All due respect the live games should be the one's with the most at stake. Harps and Wexford game is massive for both clubs.

Dundalk have 3 chances to clinch the league and it will be another hit to our attendance that rte are there

Of course it would. That wouldn't negatively impact you at all as you don't have a club. If there was a Tralee club and crowds were taking a hit every time they were on tv you would want to see fewer of your clubs home games on tv.

Half the counties don't have a LoI team or are outside reasonable driving distance to a game.

I'd prefer to watch a game with plenty at stake in front of a passionate crowd over a nothing match involving one of the leagues finest silver as you put it.

The first division play offs would be worth putting on too if there's no other big game in the premier those weekends.

Maybe this is why RTE hardly show anything before September. They only want to show a game if there's a trophy given out at the end.

legendz

Maybe this is why RTE hardly show anything before September.RTÉ not showing many games before September shouldn't be affecting clubs attendances. People are always more likely to go to a game when there is something on the line be it on tv or not.

Personally I don't mind so-called dead rubbers. They are still games to be won.

If the LOI ever broke away from the FAI and had scope to negotiate their own TV deals, I was thinking on a fair deal (to start off with)

What about a flat 5k fee and go one extra by giving something to the away side, a nominal 2k, so 7k per match, its really not a huge amount, but of course it will never happen.

Still its an area that could be easily marketed, get the right sponsors onboard, and make it a consistent event, not having months or even weeks apart with no game live on tv.

It used to be 5k per live match.

Must be the first time in well over a decade that RTE are not screening a game live on the opening day. Not a good sign that

While Eir may not have the same nationwide coverage as RTÉ. When it comes to actual coverage of the League, they leave them dead. Loving the Podcast. Now if only they'd also do a highlights show, which is on at a reasonable time and contains, you know, highlights!

Great news that Eir are continuing to take a big interest in the league. RTE are still contractually bound to show 17 signals for the next 2 years (i think) too.

If the LOI ever broke away from the FAI (again) it'd be an utter shambles.

The proverbial first item on the agenda for the first meeting would be a split :)

I dumped Virgin media because of that decision. Best move ever. Got Sky for TV (minus Sky Sports which I'd had with Virgin) and Eircom for broadband - giving me did sport and bt sport. Saved money too.

Great to see a game on live almost every week - and most on terrestrial TV.

Pretty staggering also to see that most of the games will be broadcast from locations outside of Dublin. Though the inclusion of a potentially uninspiring Drogheda v Cork fixture shows that old habits die hard when it comes to venturing beyond The Pale ;)

So Eir are only committing to 11 signals throughout the season to compliment the 17 already guaranteed by RTE?

There's always one.

I think it's brilliant that a) there's 28 games being shown, looks like 24 league games and four cup games, almost a game a week and b) there's already 6 of that announced in advance.

I agree with you, it is brilliant, I'm not putting it down, but i'm genuinely asking do Eir have a contract agreed to show a minimum of 11 signals? I hadn't previously heard any details about how many matches they were going to show...

No idea what a 'signal' means but RTÉ2 will have 18 live games this season (including FAI Cup semis and final) and eir Sport will have 10 (including the EA Cup Final). There will be 36 episodes of Soccer Republic too.
