We're the "away" team, according to the fixture list, so no chance we'd be allowed to wear green with Italy wearing blue as the "home" team. It was announced a few weeks ago that we'd be wearing white for the Belgium and Italy games. There's probably some commercial agreement in place there with Umbro too.

I know. But I still find it really aggravating. Don't remember the Italians complaining when we wore green in '94 and I don't really care about shirt sales. I like us to wear green in big games, irrational need or not, and there's no compelling need for us not to except modern football's need for lots of little, pointless rules.

EDIT - Just realised Italy wore white in '94, but I DON'T CARE ALRIGHT I WANT GREEN.

Team announced, four changes - O'Shea, Clark, Whelan and Hoolahan out. Duffy, Keogh, Murphy and McClean in.

That's bold enough.

Full team, just a guess at the formation.

--------------Brady-------------

Can't say i am optimistic, the bookies say 5/2 I am thinking more 10-1 or more woudl be fairer odds!

But...... you never know.

Breaking news.... England to play Iceland! ( they will no doubt get beat. I wanna see the odds there!)

Let's get positive, I sense a Murphy hat-trick!!

I know Tricky, I'm a bit bereft too. A fit Glenn Whelan has been left out of the team. On purpose. Apocolypse now.

It is a travesty we could lose by 5 or more. Mark my words.

Happy with the faith showed in McCarthy. Think I would have only changed one of the centre backs, probably Duffy for Clark.

One of the Italian forwards is Immobile :)

Trouble is both of ours are!!

I don't like that team.

Presume it has to be Hoolahan on for the last half hour?

Long and Murphy too similar I'd have thought? Long and Keane gives more balance surely?

Whelan and O'Shea out is bizarre unless they're injured. Wary of a whole new centre back pairing and formation this far into the tournament.

Not confident. Hoping to be proved wrong.

Presume Whelan has just been sacrificed for a more attacking player. Think the team indicates O'Neill is ready to really go for it. It's risky for sure. Could all go to pieces very quickly.

Dunphy is at it again. Can't see why the 3 oldest players in the team aren't playing for the 3rd time in 8 days. Idiot

**** it. 2-0 Ireland.

Bookies and market don't like the team either. Odds now drifted to 3.75 from 3.5 about 30 mins ago and 3.3 this morning...

Call me paranoid, but it's a definite trend. If gives me a sick feeling that someone knows something that I don't know...

whelan left out is the biggest surprise for me, but maybe he is really tired. Not confident, but gave Galway no chance against Mayo at the weekend, so hope.
Hope it goes well for Coleman and Duffy,McClean and Long etc

Not a problem for us as we wont be passing it on it. Long ball!

Shorter odds than we were in '94 then so.

Good to see Coleman and McClean getting stuck in early. Not so so good to see one hopeless hoofball to Long already.

Bobble on the pitch is already causing problems for any ground passing and general control. Ireland being a bit too gung-ho with the tackles now, yellows are coming out soon.

Sooner or later Hendrick is going to score an absolute thunder******* with one of those. Great that he backs himself to take them on.

Duffy skies two clearance kicks straight out in succession. Just dirt simple stuff like that can be so ruinous.

Duffy's having a shocker, and when Italy finally wake up and start playing, that will be a serious weakspot. They seem very disinterested so far.

NeverFeltBetter

Ref's made some awful calls, Ireland have had three good shouts for a penalty and one near certainty (though, unlike Hamilton and Whelan, I think Long deserved a booking). The McClean decision in literally one of the worst of the tournament.
