London!

3 overnighters for me. Eurostar from Kings Cross is really convenient for Paris & Lille.

Flying from Stansted to Bordeaux with my 10 y/o son on Saturday at 7.20am, returning on Sunday. Then back over early on Wednesday for the Italy game, back Thursday.

We were about 20 yards from you outside O'Sullivan's judging by your picture. I'll look out for your flag at the next games and look to say hello.

I love the way French women pronounce words, like "obessity" instead of obesity.

The French are quite welcoming this time. Maybe all the other times they thought I was English.

With how bad my neck, back and hips are screwed up from being 6 ft. 3 and playing sports, being fat would be a mercy.

Ryanair seats have no leg room whatsoever.

Between the username and descprition of long legs, I've constructed a composite e-fit. 95% certain this is accurate.

D69er and Tets (or anyone else): Bordeaux weather report please! I'm not packing any clothes for what's only an overnight trip. I'm assuming shorts are fine. Is rain gear necessary?

Ended up watching it in a bar on the harbour. Apparently I missed you in there last night too! Getting the bus there and back on the day itself - early start tomorrow!

It's been absolutely teeming down for the last two hours, I'd bring some sort of waterproof jacket if you're bringing a bag to the game. I'll be throwing one in with my flag, just been drenched coming home. Very few taxis in the city as well.

Had a chance to watch the game on play back for the first time. Don't really want to talk about the match but the anthem - sorry if this has been covered already. Most emotional anthem ever for some reason. 8 of our regular group of supporters were at the game. At least 5 were moved to tears as we only found out as we chatted about it afterwards. George Hamilton said that if there was a roof on the stadium, it would have been raised. But the real point I wanted to make was about the adverse comments I have read elsewhere in some thread about Andy Townsend and his lack of "Irishness". At the end of the anthem, Jim Beglin says something along the lines of "Andy Townsend has just looked over and said 'come on' with a clenched fist". Obviously Andy had been effected by it as well.

They would have thought he was french then.

I wish my brother had the cop on to record them for me on Sky, I would enjoy looking back on it now.

Funny everyone thanked KingOfFifa saying we played well. I look back on that, Sweden were very poor, their fans were extremely underwhelmed throughout the tournament bar the last game against Belgium for about half an hour. We really did miss a trick in that game. It doesn't really matter too much but I just wanted to point it out as hadn't seen many of the posts until now.

Anyone any idea how I could get the RTE one that Owls is on about? Actually all of them.

Andy would have been on ITV co-commenting. I gather he was looking over to the Irish commentary box. I'd like to see the ITV panel and listen to Andy as well when they scored.

Andy was **** a hoop on ITV. "Get in!" you could hear him say off mike. Full of references to "we" in his commentary, but referring to the players as "they". Team = we, the individuals = they. There was no ambiguity as to just how much he was rooting for us.

Also, after likening Russia's goal against England to Houghton's against England, I think it's worth drawing comparisons between Hoolahan's goal and another famous Irish goal from the past... (McAteer's against The Netherlands)

I see Hoolahan's goal was compared to McAteer's against The Netherlands on here, thought the same myself at the time. It also reminded me of this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2Fpe0dxKZ4) from the Austrian porn star.

Had another look. It was Ronnie who was the co-commentator and not Jim.

All old stuff I know but when you study these videos you see a lot not seen at the game. Our goal started off with a quick throw by Wes who debated for split second whether he would take off his shirt when he scored. Ciaran almost scores two OGs in the space of a minute which is bizarre as he did later. Dunphy calls the players by their surname except his lovechild Wes. But more importantly, McLean was fouled when going for a header which lead to the Swedish throw just before the goal and I had forgotten Hendricks' great chance to put us 2-1 within a minute. Old hat as I say and probably covered in the 10 previous pages but I thought the foul on McLean was interesting. He makes a protest but is ignored by everyone. Shame.

At least it didn't turn out to be costly in terms of qualification. The Swedes probably deserved a break given the Italy they had to face compared to us. That Hendrick chance was right in front of where I was sitting, he needed to try to smack it high I thought but I think he tried to hit it low between the keepers legs, but didn't connect properly in any case. He's normally very good with one and ones but the angle was a bit against him I suppose.
