So it seems (obviously enough) that we're getting a new kit for the Euros. Launching on 10/03/2016; available to pre-order on faishop.com

If it looks lanything like the 2010 shirt we'll be laughing.

According to johnnyc in the video below it wiull incorparate all 3 flag colours in it.

I'm the same, I linked it from my phone and it wouldn't allow me copy the image. It's only a sneak preview anyway, you can't see that much but get an idea.

I love the orange bits, really adds to it. If I could source one without the sponsor I'd be all over it, otherwise... meh.

The orange strip on the collar is terrible. Otherwise I like it.

I'm a fan. Really like it. It's not that clear from the photo above, but there are subtle dark/lighter green lines crossing it in a diagonal direction.

Some further views where you can see the detail better:

I like it, think my old jersey has seen better days, so I'll probably get this

Not so sure about it on closer inspection. The diagonal stripes look a bit cheap and naff. Less said about the Paddywackery name/number font the better - stinking.

Like the touches of orange and I'm due an upgrade (plus I don't go for name/number printing) so still might get it.

I'm guessing there will be an official Euro 2016 font anyway. The celtic script nonsense will maybe only see the light of day in friendlies

I like the diagonal stripes though. It's enough of a hint to remind me of the 1993 addidas kit.

Also glad to see they included us nordies on the marketing. Especially after been cast off into Cavan Bay by RTÉ during the election last week.

would be much nicer without the lines. too much going on I think

I await Nelson McCausland's complaint.

I really like it. If I can source one without that gash logo on the front then I'm on it.

This Mexico shirt is a thing of beauty:

It's only when you see the likes of the North's jersey a couple of years ago, Athletic's jersey a couple of years ago, that Mexico jersey above, the German jersey a few years ago, that I realise just how crappy some of Umbro's efforts have been.

Even the new one. Should be a corker, but they overcomplicate it with the collar.

DeLorean
08/03/2016, 10:48 AM
I think the orange in the collar gives it the umph it needs. They're going for something a little dramatic I think. The Mexico one is class in a more subtle way, I think you might need a Latin American tan to pull off that collar though.

Yeah, that was fine. I actually have the long sleeve version. The opening seems wider on the Mexican V-neck, or does it?

BonnieShels
08/03/2016, 6:47 PM
It could well be. But I'd wager it seems wider because the collar is thinner.

I have that baby sponsorless and numbered. I will be buried in it. Not joking either.

I do too... I could have done with it in a smaller size though but I got it turned up so not too bad. Was that the only jersey ever where there were sponsorless 'contacts', a fair few seemed to avail of it.

Yes/No. There were always some players spares that found there way to the privileged few, but that was the first time I can recall where word went round that the FAI shop was actively selling sponsorless ones in the store. Beautiful jersey too.

Just saw the new one in reality and I must say I'm not as impressed as I was with the pictures. The green looks much brighter and the collar is kind of floppy and untidy looking. I'll put my €70 to better use I think.

brendy_éire

FAI seriously chancing the arm asking for €70.
AliExpress has the sponsorless tops for €14 delivered, BTW.

I got a few kids kits for the young lad (Argie Messi one and a Brazil Neymar one) and the quality was brilliant, took 2-3 weeks to arrive but at around £8 per kit, you can't argue with that. Comes with all the Nike/Adidas labels on and printing etc...

I've heard some come through with poor quality but I guess you have nothing to lose at that price, just try and pick a seller with lots of positive feedback.

Saw the new one in the flesh there. It's very nice. Gonna be even nicer without a sponsor on it.

Ha, I think they've photoshopped the logos out in those pics using the clone tool. They certainly did an awful job of it, but I assume the jerseys look pretty much identical to the authentic ones in the flesh? Has anyone bought off these guys before and, if so, what's the quality like? My friend got an away jersey for cheap (named and numbered) online somewhere a few years ago - dunno if it was from the same site - and it looked pretty much identical to the real thing from what I can recall.

Does anyone know who at umbro designs our shirts? Are they Irish? I have a notion they're English and have an inhouse tarmaccer joke going where they see how much tarmaccer fluorescent orange they can slip into the design for our shirt. This design they then present for approval to the FAI (while trying to stifle their Monty Python-esque sniggers) who in turn gush about how much they love it, sign the cheque and leave the room just in time for the designers uproarous laughter to fill the room before bets taken are settled.

Why would we wear a white kit against Belgium?

Why not?

Probably as a ruse to try sell some more.

There was a thing one time where any dark colours would be considered a clash, I think it was because of black & white televisions! Not sure about nowadays, we usually change against Italy but there's probably no need. They don't in the rugby and there's no problem.

Is it something to do with colour-blindness, and kit clashes?

BonnieShels

It used to be about B&W TVs in poor countries.

My sponsorless top from AliExpress arrived there. It was sent to an address in England first, then reposted to my address. Strange one.
The jersey seems the usual quality, and looks well without the huge '3' in the middle of it. I presume these are just tops bought out in bulk in China for next to nothing, then sold on us westerners. Bargain at €14.

What are the sizes like?

Does it still have the Umbro symbol or is that removed as well? It seems to be removed on the picture on their site, kind of makes it fake looking.

The seller I used, 'wen bo', seems to be gone. But there's loads of other ones there.
The Umbro symbol is there and the sizing is the usual way.

AliExpress have a guarantee similar to eBay's, in that you'll get your money back if the item doesn't show up. Also covers counterfeits, so there's not much risk involved.

Haha but its all counterfeits. Umbro aren't sanctioning the sale of these products.

I bought some kits from Aliexpress for the young lad a year or two ago. Great quality (Nike Brazil / Adidas Argie) came with all the labels as it would if you bought them in a shop. Basically, I see it as being the same product from the same child workhouses that Nike and Adidas and Umbro use but they keep a stash for themselves to sell direct to the public on Aliexpress etc.. Whch I guess they are not supposed to do. If they are costing Joe Public 14$ what are Adidas / Nike paying them? < 10$ I bet??

All just presumption on my part.....
