I couldn't recall what RTE/Irish media use.
I think RTE use 'IRL' for their graphics but it's usually just the UEFA graphics they use on their broadcasts.
You're right actually.
http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc12/poguemahone85/Capture_zpseihuzp8y.png
I think that's because they use the UEFA-supplied graphics and codes, but I'm pretty certain they used to use "ROI" or "Rep. of Ireland" in their graphics up until UEFA started supplying the current standardised ones.
See here from the abandoned England friendly at Lansdowne Road in 1995:

In RTÉ's adverts for games, I'm also pretty sure they'll always refer to us as the "Republic/Rep. of Ireland".
See this advert from September of 2014, for example:

Although I see RTÉ used "Ireland" in their scoreline graphic for the home game against Holland in 2001:

The three-character code comes from FIFA, there's a list of them on wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FIFA_country_codes
The graphics for the qualifier come from UEFA, which is why they say "European Qualifiers" when they're for the World Cup

I actually asked someone who worked at ESPN why it said ROI and they said IRL is patented by the Indy Racing League (Indy 500). But that can't be true. what if someone patented NY? No one else could us it? The Yankees would be YAN ? And what if Yan can cook already owned YAN, etc?

This (http://www.footyheadlines.com/2017/03/liverpool-17-18-home-kit.html) is supposedly a leaked image of Liverpool's new 125th anniversary jersey for the 2017-18 EPL season:
https://media.balls.ie/uploads/2017/04/25160749/liverpool-17-18-kit-2.jpg
I'm a fan of it's simplicity. Hopefully New Balance can do something similar for their future Ireland jersey designs instead of covering them with the more typical garish lines and patterns.

If we end up with that template in green, no sponsor and with an orange stripe on cuff and collar you would have a classic there and then. Preferably in emerald green again.

We could end up with this template though...

Some great jerseys. I noticed he tweeted Ronnie Whelan about getting the Russia jersey from 1985 signed and he replied that he would arrange to meet him during the international break back in March to sign the jersey.

I remember bidding on it at the time; it was a low auction, where the lowest unique bid won the jersey. You'd have to imagine that he tracked down the winner and bought it off them; it'd be a bit of a coincidence that he won that auction himself.

New Ireland jersey posted on balls.ie
I can't make my mind up about it yet. Like all the NB stuff it's very simple.
I've never been a fan of vertical lines (reminds me of NI in 90s and those awful Euro 2012 jerseys we had). Although the difference in the shades are quite faint.

Na, these leaks are usually fairly accurate. It's a bit of an underwhelming effort but it's how the lads perform in it will determine how it's remembered.

I can't complain as I dislike fussy jerseys -the absence of such fuss appears to be what those commentators crying dull are gurning about.
NB generally make cheap looking gear though. Would've liked to see us do a deal with adidas -they've made some hideous kits for our northern cousins but a few nice ones too.
Some of the mock up kits being touted on that clunky balls site are the stuff of an Australians nightmare.

I think it's a pretty lazy effort to be honest. Very similar to previous one, just changed the direction of the shaded lines, added a bit of orange to the sleeves and messed around with the collar.
