Along with all of the coaching staff. Extraordinary statement from them

So Quigley claims the club didn't pay him monies owed. The club still manage to get a license and sign more players and it seems now none of the coaching staff are being paid.

Or players. At least Limerick are only banning their fans.

Mad stuff really. Does make you wonder how they got a license. Where can Bray go from here now? What manager is going to want to go near them? Worrying stuff.

This had better be an April Fool's. Non-payment of staff is disgraceful behaviour if true, and I would have hoped for better from Bray.

He was telling folk at the Longford-Bray game that he was fed up of the new owners and wasn't going to take much more. I can only assume things got worse after that. The fact that all the coaches have walked together suggests it was a mess. I doubt they'd all follow Mathews if it was just him that was having issues.

Fairplay to the FAI, they really pulled out all the stops this year.

Giving Unknowns a licence just so they could go tits up on the 1st of April.

Genius.

How often have we seen statements like this from a group of people only for it to be complete and utter horsesh!t.

I wouldn't just go lynching Bray just yet until their side of the story comes out...

I spoke with 5 of the 6 coaching staff after the Bohs game, I have never seen the sheer look of frustration and desolation with a dedicated team of coaches. I have heard of the real issues with the GM and his running of the football club from general supporters, supporter club members, former players, former staff, media, and the list just keeps growing...these people running the club have no interest in Bray Wanderers the football club..I'll leave it at that because I like this forum for LOI fans and don't want BWFC be banished for another few years.I agree with the above comments about FAI licensing, it is a farce.

If it was horsesh!t it'd be libellous horsesh!t. Whatever your opinion of Mathews the manager he's certainly not stupid enough to release a statement like that if the facts aren't right.

Wouldnt there be a case for the FAI to answer to non promoted clubs in relation to loss of income caused by the FAI for not following their own procedures in a legal challange? Waterford were quick enough to try it on with Dundalk after the play-off why not chance it now when there is an actual case to answer.

Well we'll have to wait and see but from what I know of him I'd be extremely surprised. The statement is in all of the coaching staff's names too so it's not all that credible that they'd all be leaving themselves open like that.

What will happen now ? Bray's liecence revoked ?, all points gained againdt Bray deducted ? all remaining games against Bray walk overs 3 points for everyone ? UCD promoted to take thier place, any odds on Devlin returning to take control, my guess will be nothing will change except an interim manager will be appointed until the end of the season, can't see Roddy doing it unless it's paid up front and Junior at right back

Licence: What's happening currently is not a matter that affects the licence issued in January. Unless the Club withdraws from the League, nothing changes in relation to matches, walkovers, points, promotions etc.
Payments: Allegations have been made relating to payments to both players and coaching staff. Surely the FAI must now look into that? If they are true, then there must be sanctions in the League participation agreement?

Someone will take charge for the Sligo match on Friday - at the latest, we will discover from the team sheet!

I fully expect some of this stuff will wind up in the Four Gold Mines eventually. So we need to tread a little cautiously: the last management threatened legal proceedings on the basis of less ...

Accusing BWFC of non-payment of wages is a pretty serious allegation though, and if untrue, it leaves him wide open to legal action, as others have pointed out. I am pretty seriously worried about the future of our club at this point.

Afaik, most of Devos staff went with him when that went tits up, so whether many now are steeped in Bray I'm not sure.

Prediction:

A gross overstatement by Mathews, and himself and his management team were simply covering their own asses before being sacked. A bit silly from them, and they've realised as such so are claiming money owed to them (i.e pay the rest of the contract and claim to the press it's "unpaid wages").

Bray laugh and proceed to tell them to stick their complaint where the sun don't shine (i.e the same place as Darren Quigleys).

Everything goes on all rosy, Bray appoint a manager that isn't completely tactically inept, and this all blows over and Bray, yet again, avoid relegation.

Sounds pretty par for the course in League of Ireland terms really, in my view at least.

Not sure what you're basing that prediction on nigel but he was owed a fair amount from last season not just this season AFAIK. He would have agreed to a repayment schedule presumably. I'm not defending or criticising him as a manager but I know people that know him and it was last summer when I first heard he hadnt been paid for weeks. He also was never anywhere near as vocal when leaving any other job.

From what I heard the writing was on the wall before the Cork game. He was getting the boot unless they beat Cork... Looks like he has jumped before being pushed!

Regarding non-payment, I heard this is complete bull and he and his staff and players have all been paid up to date this season. The team have been playing very bad, 0 goals, 0 points says it all.

While I love change - I do think they are changing too much too quick and are beginning to lose the run of the place up there! The club needed a change and was crying out for a change for years!

I think they need to hire a Director of Football to sit on the board and to really control the football matters and then hire a manager who actually uses tactics and can motivate a team to come and run things on the pitch! (where do i sign?)

Mick Cooke was there on Saturday and I believe is interested. A few other names have been mentioned included the ex Rovers manager (Croly) and former Bray players stepping in too (Matt Briton - done very well in LSL management)

But then is the door opening again for Mr Devlin to save the day AGAIN!!! Who knows!!! :) ;)

On players wages being owed: he didn't actually say that. He said there were 'delays'. That could mean they're up to date

Likewise he didn't claim to be owed money by Bray. Just that he had worked without pay

I'm guessing he chose the words wisely enough

Mathews' wages probably aren't the issue - he has a good job already. The problem is if his staff and players aren't being paid money they're depending on to get by.

Realistically anybody on the DART line is in the frame for the job.

Surely we can take the 3 points.
Maybe even a walkover.
Is there any possible excuse we can formulate and put out there beforehand?
Could this be the much sought after 'turning point' of the season?

Mathews along with two of his staff Josh Moran and Karl (kit man) were on the board of Management of the club. I'm sure the results were a topic at a recent board meeting (think it was Tuesday) so it must have come to a head.

Bray Wanderers FC Club Statement – 2nd April 2015

New Management Team Appointment

Bray Wanderers is delighted to confirm the appointment of Maciej Tarnogrodzki as caretaker first team coach with immediate effect.

Maciej has worked on youth development at Bray Wanderers over the past season and has overseen the Bray Wanderers under 19s team. He joined the Seagulls in 2012 after a stint at Shelbourne FC.

We would like to thank Maciej for taking charge of training and first team duties last night, and he has the full support of the club and first team squad of players.

Speaking last night, Maciej Tarnogrodzki said, “We had a fantastic training session with the squad. There was a very positive and professional response from the players and we are all now fully focused on Friday and our main priority is picking up points. Our captain David Cassidy, despite injury, even took a small part in training last night and all of the players are fully behind the job at hand. The plan is very simple… we need to score goals, pick up points and move up the table. We have a very talented, young squad who are fully committed to Bray Wanderers. Results will come, we have no doubt.”

Bray Wanderers would like to thank Alan Mathews for his service to the club over the past few months. Alan was an extremely important part of the club’s survival last season. We would also like to thank his backroom team for their dedication and passion for Bray Wanderers.

Unfortunately results did not go our way during the opening games of the season, however the club is extremely confident this run of form will end and turn around.

The club would like to reassure supporters that the positive plans for Bray Wanderers are still unchanged.

The Board and Owners of Bray Wanderers are fully committed, as a priority, to sustaining the club’s Premier League status and keeping the club alive financially. There are ongoing initiatives to improve the club both on and off the pitch. These include plans to further improve and utilise facilities at the stadium, as we understand the importance of our home ground to supporters.

Finally, we would like to thank the community of Wicklow for supporting Bray Wanderers throughout the recent change of owners and management. Bray Wanderers is fully committed to youth development both on and off the pitch and we will continue to do so through Ardmore Rovers and Phoenix Youth. We will continue to inject this youth into match days and we are constantly working to change Saturday evening at the Carlisle Grounds into a family evening out.

ENDS.

I have no doubt Mathews and his henchmen jumped before they got the bullet. The man is a snake and is trying to preserve his LOI managerial career so he can get at least one more shot at wrecking a club on the field like he did at Shels and Drogheda.

I've also no doubt that a pub/hotel group doesn't take over a football club out of the goodness of their own hearts to burn 200-400k into a black hole per season to subsidise a perennial loss making LOI club.

There's too many questions hanging over Bray to suggest to me they'll last the season. If there's any legs on CCTV/Portakabin-gate the club is toast.

Johnny McDonnell? He'd hardly leave now to go to Bray?
He left Shels in the lurch a couple of weeks after signing a new deal and signing up players so he probably would do it again.

Cooke would be looking for a decent budget to work with and he won't get that with a club where there's questions over whether he would even get paid himself!

Best practice would be not to make any statements to the media on such contentious things without it but they could if they wanted to obviously.
