Big night for TC and the Town. After the huge results in recent weeks. Need to consolidate it now.
It would be like us to implode now alright after all that hard work. Confident of a win though, if we play anything like the last two games we should win comfortably..

Why the hell is Fagan benched? And Bermingham. And Lynch.

Why the hell is Fagan benched? And Bermingham. And Lynch.
Presumably with the trip to Poland in mind. Bermingham went over on his ankle on Saturday and was heavily strapped so he could probably do with a day off.

Athlone 1-0 up at home to Limerick. Is the great escape on?
Galway also 1-0 up on the B team.

Very predictable that, Athlone seem to be picking up serious form and Limerick without Ryan, Oji and Tracy is a sickening side.

Not quite but it's a bit embarrassing, whether Athlone are on the up or not

Town 2-0 up in Wexford, strolling through it by all accounts. Galway 5 up on baby Rovers, Shels 2 up on Waterford. About 15-20 left in Town and Shels games, nearly over in Galway

Phew. Huge result in Drogheda. Doesn't sound like we played well but 3 points is still 3 points, and we briefly gain sole possession of first place. A draw in Tallaght would do very nicely.

Town comfortable 2-0 winners, could've been more by all accounts. 8 clean sheets in our last 9 now, and 7 in a row.

Ha. This result has his fingerprints all over it if we're being honest. Squad is just wretched in attitude and form right now.

First away point for Cobh. Onwards and upwards. Thoughts with Shane Hallahan who was brought to hospital for what could be a broken leg. Long journey back

Looked very bad for a while alright. Brave goalkeeping in a 50/50 challenge. Was told it was his knee that had swollen up like a balloon. Hope for a swift recovery.

Drogheda were full of energy and commitment - the exact opposite of the last time I saw them in Oriel Park. Kudos to Darius Kierans - it shows the difference a manager can make
Cork showed nothing that would mark them out as European contenders much less as title hopefuls

Felt the the same watching them last Sunday but they're still hanging in there and making a few decent signings

Went down to see the game and I was impressed with the effort, organisation, and creativity of Drogheda. Just need to be able to convert chances. It's hard to believe that this team is essentially the same side that were being hammered on a weekly basis a short while ago.
Great work by Darius, it's a pity he does't have the qualification to be a candidate for the permanent role.
Cork underwhelmed once again. However, the table doesn't lie.

Your dismissive nature towards cork is laughable to say the least.
they comprehensively beat a mediocre Rovers side twice , and Rovers are a side in 3rd place!
The game tomorrow at Tallaght will tell its own story-dundalk played cannon fodder during the week but Rovers are a dour durable side under TC and will be a tough nut to crack.
Like most I thought the loss of O'Donnell would cripple dundalk but they've done better than people thought .exactly like Cork.

When you recover from any factious laughter, have another look at what I posted - it related to Cork's performance last night.

Cork's record speaks for itself and they are undoubtedly title contenders.
Since they suffered back-to-back defeats away to Dundalk and St Pats, they have only conceded one league goal, are unbeaten and the draw against Sligo being the only match they did not win - that is impressive!

Rovers are mediocre and dour, yet durable and a tough nut to crack?
World domination surely beckons if they can move beyond mediocrity...........

If you play the two overweight centre backs and the fat midfielder they might mistake you as a visiting English hen party?

Talking to few Drogs mates (yes I have some) said you were very long ball and not great, but you boys are winning and not conceeding so you must be decent. Anyway big match at TC on 1st Aug. Timing not great travel wise as a lot fans will have gone to/been to Lux/Croatia. Would love to go myself on 01/08 so will have to see.

We have been pretty anti-football all season which is something that we haven't been for a very long time. Personally I'd prefer if we played better stuff, but I'm certainly not going to complain about our position. Defensively we have been rock solid. Only 1 goal conceded in 8 now.

Cork have UCD home next then I think including Dundalk at home they enter a good few challenging matches, but they have done well, no doubt about that.
1st Aug Cork v Dlk should be great match.

We're 14 months unbeaten at Turners Cross, but no doubt the Pats and Dundalk games will be big tests. There's a few interesting weeks coming up, no doubt.

Dundalk and Pats at home back to back, then a few tricky enough (Bohs and Athlone away among them) games before Shamrock Rovers come to town th first week in September. That run of games will go a long way to deciding whether we are really contenders or not.

While having shown plenty of resilience thus far, I still don't believe we're going to win it. I can see us dropping points in the run of games that you spoke of and as you said, it may go a long way to deciding the title.

Agree with that, but there's some tough games to come for Dundalk too. They still have Pats, Sligo Rovers, ourselves and Shamrock Rovers away.
Those games will go a long way to deciding whether they can win the league too.

We have tough games ahead but I'm not gona look past the ucd game, I know we should win but ucd can be tricky as most teams know and then we have bohs away which is never easy.. if we win those then those games against dundalk and pats will be massive

Big big win for us. But I think it has to be said that Sligo more lost that game than we won it. Shocking composure in front of goal. But we were due some luck. A debutante up from the inters got an assist within ninety seconds too. And Ayman back on the bench after injury. Things maybe finally looking up for us.
