Announcement was made yesterday with the updates and improvements as well as screenshots for the new Football Manager game.

Must say it looks fantastic and with some overhauls such as tactics and transfer market negotiations with new clauses added, this is looking like an absolute cracker of a game and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

That guy. Does a very good job in fairness to him, always looking for updates from clubs fans as well as officials and coaches. Full time job really.

Has anyone played it much?

The researcher was doing some serious work this year.

Case in point...

Anyone remember a player called Dean Lawrence? Was with Rovers, Shels and Kildare County in the LOI? Trying to find out if he's still playing anywhere, last record I can find for him is SacredHeart Fc (https://www.facebook.com/sacredheart.fc?directed_target_id=0) in 2011-12 season?

Going as far as researching junior teams in Galway. That might not have made it in yet, but nice to see.

I'm very happy to see steam workshop integration. It isn't very well served yet, but give it time.

I'll leave it another while until I pick it up. Decided to pre-order the new Xbox so FIFA will keep me happy until Xmas.

Haven't played quite as much as I'd have liked to.

Few problems, which I've forwarded on to be fixed in the next patch.

League of Ireland under-19 teams. A mix up in the system left League of Ireland under 19 clubs as separate entities altogether, meaning, for example, Finn Harps, and Finn Harps under-19s are two separate clubs. It's fairly annoying, but I just fixed it in the editor myself.

Shaun McGowan is listed as player/assistant manager at Harps. Instead of Sean McGowan as assistant, and Shaun McGowan as player. Instead, Sean McGowan is listed as unattached. Also to be corrected in the next patch.

A huge, in depth list of players in Ireland including a massive amount of junior and intermediate players. A large proportion of those players are only in the game though because they were previously attached to League of Ireland clubs. They simply kept on their profiles from previous games and added them to their new clubs.

The guy who updates the Irish section deserves massive credit for the amount of work and research he does.

Used to work doing that type of thing. It really is hard work keeping track of everyone.

I think he wanted to implement the under 19 league properly as well, but it isn't possible currently, due to how FM works. At least that's what I think he said. Was a while ago though.

Yeah he said he tried to sort out the 19's league as it is currently, rather than the youth system that's always been in place in FM, but there was some sort of mix up in the database.

but there was some sort of mix up in the database.

I think the problem might be that there is conventional promotion/relegation between them and that hasn't been implemented across FM

I don't think he said that, but could be the reason.

just out of interest did anyone ever create an irish database for fm which included the LSL, MSL and so on, because i was trying to do so but kept effing up on it

Not quite that but what I've done with FM14 is create a pyramid with the 226 Irish clubs in the database. It contains 15 divisions all linked with promotion/relegation. I was thinking of putting in a straight ladder structure with 15 levels but I decided to go with only 4 levels. Basically the 1st three tiers are Premier, First & Second divisions containing 18 teams. Then the 4th tier has 12 sub-divisions with promotion play-offs for the 172 remaining clubs. There are 6 teams pro/rel from tiers 3 & 4.

The top 4 in each division of tier 4 enter a cup style playoff leading to 6 finals, with the winner of each final being promoted.

Would be interesting to do a pyramid where the existing LSL and MSL would be made part of that pyramid and create playoffs like you have outlined above for teams winning their district leagues in other places.

Bought the new xbox so didn't bother buying FM yet. Will pick it up for 20 quid in a month or two.

Does the FM13 file work OK? I find that whenever I edit the Irish leagues, the game always crashes around early December? Has anyone had similar problems and is there a way to get around this. Looks impressive BTW.

I've had no issues with FM13 LOI edit, went through 15 seasons.

WexCar, just wondering, did you do all the prize money, transfer windows etc. I had a quick look at it there and none of that was done. It was all empty. Just wondering did you leave it out, or is it just an error with mine?

I didn't leave any of that out, don't know why they would be missing on your end . WRT prize money I didn't have any for the leagues, only the cups. I had TV money for the leagues instead.

I prob wont be able to actually play FM 14 for another few weeks, I want to restructure the MLS & create a Canadian league system before I start. So if you or anyone else using the database do come across any issues could ya let me know?

Enjoy your gaming!!!

I have a quite bad computer, and FM13 already runs quite slowly here.

Is FM14 much heavier than FM13 and FM12? Has the game improved in relation to those anyways? Otherwise I think I won't buy it this year

For once, as far as I can see, the recommended running specs really are recommended. Doesn't work on my laptop, but works on my computer. Which is pretty annoying, seeing as I use the laptop much more.

In a similar position, but I bought it last night anyway, got it for €24.50. Won't get substantially cheaper than that for a good while I'd say, so I decided to get it. I'll get a change to play it a small bit but I'll be replacing my current setup in January, so I'll be all set games wise :D

I've only played it a little so far. Only bought it last night.

I want to make sure everything is right before I start a proper career save. Competition names, transfers as up to date as possible, all logos and facepacks etc.

I started the underdog challenge. You pick a lower league team and get dropped into a the top tier. I think the idea is that you just try to survive.

Everything runs nicely, even on my rubbish laptop. Interface wise, I really like it. It will be beautiful when I get the logos and that.

Just a quick question, I found whenever I used to edit leagues on it, it was next to impossible to sign decent players, particularly for Irish clubs. Very average run of the mill players were requesting €700/800 per week. Has this been solved, because I remember reading on the SI forums that other users had similar problems

Looking at transplanting all the Irish leagues into a pyramid structure. One thing trying to plan it out has done is reinforce how much of a shambles it is IRL.

I was thinking the bottom team in the First Division being relegated to their home province and the 2nd bottom playing the loser of provincial playoff final.

I was thinking of each province having a single qualifier to that promotion playoff

Ulster - not the most complicated, but i'll have to look into it more.

Munster - MSL and concurrent district leagues in the province would mean a big enough playoff series to get promoted to LOI. Isn't there a Cork district league as well... more complications.

Connacht - Creating that new CSL and just having the winner qualify for the provincial semi finals.

Leinster - Christ knows.

All right, what I've got so far (just Connacht) (http://i.imgur.com/kbeIqDi.png)

Looks an attractive structure to be fair. Certainly a pyramid like that would be appealing to play a game in.

There's just one logistical problem that stands out for me. I was just thinking we'll say Westport and Salthill get relegated from CSL, and are replaced by a Sligo and Roscommon teams, how will that work out in the divisions below? Football Manager might allocate Salthill into the Roscommon League and Westport into the Sligo one.

The blueprints you have are excellent

Is there a way certain teams can only be relegated to certain regional leagues? Eg Ballina get relegated from CSL but are replaced by Sligo team. Is there a way the mayo league could play with 11 teams instead of ten and Sligo with 9 instead of ten for the following season?

I suppose in an ideal world everyone in the respective district leagues would get bumped up a division. So you might be left with one less team in the fourth or fifth tier of your district leagues once re-organisation is complete. However seen as you won't be going back that far and such re- organisation is probably impossible on FM then we'll have to wait and see what others say

It only has some of the Sligo/Leitrim league teams. I assumed they were all there but the league isn't in the database and it's missing quite a few of the teams. Calry for example.
