To be fair, when it started coming down really hard both teams kept playing football.
Competent performance from Rovers. Never looked likely to concede apart from a 2-minute spell in the first half, but the usual yips started set in towards the end. Limerick seemed to determined to have a man sent off and must be disappointed to have had to wait until injury time. Ricer's missus will not be a happy bunny I fear.
Best part was coming out of the match to learn Player of the Month Killian Brennan had got his marching orders, then opening the news app on my phone to see an article entitled 'Brennan eyes pots for Pats' :D

There was no way he was going to stay on the pitch. Rarely have I seen a player so wound up.
Ref missed an elbow of his early in the game and the "tackle" on Meenan merited two red cards. It was that bad.
Pats should be furious with him. They played very well and are easily the best team we have played this season (even if we have beaten them twice).

Was there crowd trouble at Dundalk v Pats? Saw a few ramblings from a Pats mate online.
The one nice feeling I take from tonight is we're sh1t (as in we're really, really sh1t) and yet we're still the highest placed team in Munster.:)

Not really.
Somehow, Pats fans who paid into the uncovered terrace were allowed into the main stand. It was a wet night and Pats fans are usually well behaved at Oriel Park. So someone took pity on them and let them take shelter.
They were "boisterous" but it was just loud banter, nothing nasty.
There are reports of a fan falling and hitting his head. Hope he recovers fully. I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding that incident.
There will always be people who will blame stewards but most of us know how difficult football fans can be to deal with. They few yobs who seem to be present in every group make it very difficult to intervene.

Interested in a Pats fan's perspective here, saw all of 'incident' and the only fault was allowing away fans into the stand without a stand ticket. Will know better next time hail or rain not to take pity on decent visiting fans and shelter them from the inclement weather! Pity that a person who does their job properly gets abuse for it - who'd be a steward...??

That's seriously articulate stuff there. Way too high brow for me.
Getting beat again by Dundalk probably did not help the spirit of the Pats fans - especially the group that launched a full scale attack on a totally innocent fence after the match (the fence did not attack back and the Pats heroes gave up after a few futile minutes)

AFAIK there has been a few statements to the guards about the incidents, not 100% sure what happened myself, as i was waiting to get out.
Chris Shields behaviour when warming up at the time Brennan got sent off was disgraceful, pure incitement towards the Pats fans.
About the game, poor conditions, poor officals, draw would have been fair I thought, didnt think it was gonna be easy against Dundalk, Kenny has turned them into a hard to beat team.

I'm surprised Pats fans are not concerned about the stupidity of Brennan.
It was obvious from the beginning of the game that he was going to get himself sent off. I was surprised he lasted 30 minutes.
Teams, even good one's like Pats, cannot give Kenny's Dundalk a one man advantage for an hour.
They are as fit as hell and can move the ball quickly. Pats played really well for 70 minutes, but were dead on their feet for the last 20 minutes.

What are your thoughts on Killian Brennan's behaviour?
Is bad behaviour by some fans always excused by any of (a) preceived incitement by players (b) referreeing decisions (c) Stewarding (d) losing a match they expected to win?

St Pats are an excellent footballing side and with a bit of extra luck could have got the draw - but Dundalk were full value for the win, and but for a poor penalty it should have been a more comfortable margin.
You should look at Killian Brennans two footed assault rather then the referee for the key turning point.

Brennan went over the ball with intention of raking his studs on Meenan's leg. It was the most obvious red card I have seen in years.
And just a few moments after he got away with an elbow!!
He was a liability to Pats last night.

Eh - yes I would:
Any intentional goading / inciting of fans is not acceptable, irrespective of what team colours they wear.
If it occurs it does not mean that all types of fan reaction is justified (for example Ross Gaynor and Drogheda "fans" in Sligo V Drogs at Showgrounds)
What was the bad behaviour by the fans??
If you were in the body of St Pats fans being retained in the ground after the match, you could hardly have failed to see the aggressive and violent behaviour of some Pats fans trying to tear down security screens.
In general St Pats fans have been well behaved, good fun and welcome visitors to Oriel (including being one of the few groups allowed in numbers into the Lilywhite Lounge).
Decent Pats fans should not follow Shamrock Rovers lead by turning a blind eye to the bad behaviour of a minority

I hate that in the LOI.
The least we should expect to be able to see the game. I was at United Park on Monday night and one third of the pitch was totally obscured from view.
The circumstances leading to a fan slipping and falling on steps will need to be investigated and lessons learned.
Unfortunately, money does not exist to build a covered stand for the small number of away fans who come to Oriel Park. I would advise all away fans to read the weather forecast before coming, and if it is poor, pay an extra fiver to buy a stand ticket. €15 to sit in a stand with two bars and good toilets is pretty good value.
I paid that on Monday to stand in United Park with no food or bar facilities worth talking about, disgusting toilets, and a view of 2/3rds of the pitch.

You know Oriel yeah?
You knew you weren't coming to a kids bun party so if you knew about the biblical "the winds, p*ssing rain, freezing cold, people standing in my way" why didn't you wise up and pay what you normally pay into richmond and sit in the stand?

Decent game, full of tension from the start, the rain gave the pitch a faster than normal pace, I'm no fan of it, but it contributed to a really good game last night. You would never have thought Pats were down to 10 men for 15 mins after the break, they are a very good side, and no doubt why they are top, but we definitely deserved to win in the end, no question about that. Very foolish by Brennan, put his team under huge pressure, then he got a hero welcome when he emerged into the stand for the second half.
It's unfortunate away fans have to stand in the rain, no excuses for that and I really wish we could offer some sort of cover. The option is there as said above to pay €15 and go to they main stand, before kick off this could be managed a bit better, and adequate space would have been found if a higher number of away fans made that decision then, as that area is rarely used by DLK fans. I think it's unfair having a go at stewards who all of sudden are forced to accommodate around 150-200 fans during the match and who were originally managed and paid into another area.
Best wishes to the Pats fan for a speedy recovery.

not really but neither did we. Last 15 of the first we gave the ball away to many times and so did pats and neither side created much. first 15 of the second half they had us on the ropes and scored. their goal was lucky I thought but well deserved. Even after they scored they dominated us for a while. Keith Ward came on before they scored and we started to take control after that. Our goal was lucky too, Pats defending should of been a lot better and Byrne gave Clarke no chance. from a dfc pov I am bias so I'll say we fully deserved it.

Quite right.
All we know is that a Pats fans slipped on the steps and was badly injured. No one has provided any evidence as to how this is the fault of a steward.
Furthermore, the other gripe appears to be that the stewards did not eject children from their seats to make way for fans who didn't buy a stand ticket.
The whinging from a few Pats fans is really pathetic and using an unfortunate accident to have a go at volunteer stewards is cowardly and disgusting.
