Turn Bray players sideways against Shamrock Rovers and you have the same problem.

This is why teams have away kits.

I like the Shels (cant really see Sligos properly) and UCD jerseys best out of that bunch. Very smart jerseys.

Dislike Dundalks and Derrys. Detest Limericks & the one that looks like the Mayor of Cork wearing his full regalia...

The rest, including ours, are fairly meh.

Limerick's is the same template as ours.

I've just copped that our badge has been moved to the left from the centre. Just like it should have been when we got this shirt last season.

Seems a bit strange that the club didn't plump for a totally new template given that it's different to last years shirt in such a minor detail.

Because they're all sponsored by VW?

Are you sure it's not our one you're looking at it and can't see the Shels one properly? We're the one in the middle.

They are pretty much the same kit.

same template perhaps but different manufacturer and it is obvious. Dont like the Lims one at all.

Ah yes! Youre right... should have twigged the Connollys v McAllisters, didnt even notice...

By the way, do Shels and Sligo both have umbro?

Not that obvious considering us and Shels are both Macron.

yes but i clarified that i thought i was looking at Shels but it was Sligo's.

Now you are getting confusing skstu. Shels, Limerick and Sligo are pretty much the exact same jersey. The only difference in Shels and limerick is colour and there is no difference look wise barr manufacturer between Shels and Sligo, both red, both white collar, both white at the end of sleeves and both with VW on them.

SkStu
01/03/2013, 5:00 PM
my point is that the template doesnt necessarily make it the same jersey if the manufacturer is different. I can see a difference e.g. the collar is button up for Sligo and doesnt appear so for Limericks. Its not a big deal, i just dont like the Limerick one all that much. I dont particularly like the Bohs collar on the home jersey either...

BonnieShels

With them changing the league patch this year it would have been a thought to introduce a champions patch for Sligo.

I've not been to a game for a few years but I'm going to take a stab at the players in the picture...

Standing: (l-r) Davy Hill, Paul Osam, Owen Heary, Andy Myler, Keith Gilroy, Connor Sammon, Stephen O'Donnell, Liam Coyle.
Sitting: (l-r) Marc Kenny, Andrei Georgescu, no idea, Pat Morley.

I might be wrong, but havent Bray had that kit for at least 4 seasons now? (change of sponsors aside)

That template is from around 2010. So I would go with yes.

I want to clear this up for once and for all:

Shelbourne>Macron> VW (McAllister)
Limerick> Macron> Green(something or other)
Sligo>Umbro>VW (Connollys)

Shels and Limerick have the same template but for the colours being red or blue respectively.

Sligo have a similar shirt to both and as it's red it's most like Shels, however it is made by Umbro.

Don't have me bally monocle in at the mo, but I'd hazard it's young Johnser Keane, isn't it?

What's your point caller? This is not new or useful information that makes any difference to what I've already been told or any opinion on what I like or don't like.

I like the Sligo jersey, I don't like the Limerick one. "But they're the same template"? So what, they're different jerseys made by different manufacturers. For example I prefer the collar and fit of the Umbro jersey from that pic. "You're weird". I know I am but this isn't what makes me weird, this is pretty rational.

The point is that you keep confusing Sligo and Shels.

And you did it again in your riposte!

It looks like a Nivea for men logo
Scarcely relevant, I know, but I was recently very disturbed to witness a grown man applying Nivea for Men moisturising cream all over himself in the changing room of the swimming pool in Finglas.
Call me old fashioned but I had actually thought that Nivea [was not] for men.

No I didn't! Sligo is Connollys and Limerick is the blue. I like one and don't like the other. I'm not even commenting on Shels since my initial error was pointed out but as it is macron, like limericks, I'd probably prefer the Sligo one to that too. You're the one who is confusing things.

I'm gonna just call this a draw.

Until I get to Regina and we can have a monkey-knife fight.

Umbro with a job lot and tack on any badge to it. No real mystery

If the reason is that a cheap job lot was available, I wonder did they consider lost replica sales.

When we had the red/grey tracksuits a couple of years ago, they sold like hot cakes. I can't see many fans buying these.

The Bohs away shirt looks good. Nivea seem to start off with rugby, but now they seem to be involved with soccer as well so the sponsorship/marketing must work for them in terms of extra sales. While I would be old fashioned in this regard it does not surprise me when one looks around at the majority of todays Irish men in the 20-30 age group. Do nivea sponsor the Gaa/Gaa players?

BonnieShels

Nivea have been involved in Irish soccer for years.

Clubs all over the world seem to be droping Umbro and moving to addidas, Nike, Puma etc.

How many clubs in Ireland have changed from Umbro in the last few years? Sligo is the only club I know to have taken on an Umbro kit deal in last 12 months.

In 10 years time I cant see Umbro still making football kits

Nike own Umbro so it's them deciding. Plus it isn't Umbro doing the deals, it would be a reseller within Ireland.

Top Lion, who also own the Umbro Ireland and Warrior Ireland franchises.

No club here has ever dealt with Umbro, Puma, Nike international etc,. All localised deals.

Nike no longer own Umbro. They sold them to Iconix in December.

Before that deal went through Nike went about taking the last remaining decent deals Umbro had, ie. England and Man City.
