And now, four goals for Watford in 12 minutes has them 4-2 up.

O'Shea and Wilson it is going forward, so.

Make that 5-2. Not a good day for Hoban.

7-2...holy crap. Inspired substitution it seems.
Poor old Darren O'Dea...

O'Dea may well have screwed up his chance of ever playing for Ireland again. He looked terrible for several of the Watford goals.

Sent off in injury time against Wolves but still managed to help his team come back and draw 2-2. Watford climb to third after Middlesbrough are beaten.

Live on SS1 at the moment against Middlesbrough. He's been very impressive so far standing up to Bamford as Watford have been really under the cosh, but as I type they've just taken the lead against the run of play. A win will take them top, for a couple of hours at least.

ya he looks good playing on the left side. has a good left foot on him. they've been saying Bamford has a lot of these type of games. its definitely better than the Ipswich game the last day but still no great amount of skill on show.

Watford and their cabal of loaned foreign players promoted today.
Tommie Hoban, Sean Murray & Connor Smith all at the club.
Smith has no chance of featuring in the PL next season. Hoban has a decent chance. Murray has an outside chance.
Now that they are in the PL, I don't think they are going to reduce the amount of foreign players they bring in.
Hopefully this won't affect Hoban in particular.

Sebastian Prodl has signed for Watford from Werder Bremen. He has vast experience playing in International tournaments for Austria and European competition for Werder Bremen. He can play CB and LB. Potentially spells bad news for Tommie Hoban, who has played mainly as a makeshift LB in recent times.
If Watford are going to step up their recruitment of high profile foreign players now that they are in the PL, then it may be a good idea for Hoban & Murray to pursue loan moves.
He has his work cut out for him either way!

Ever so predictably, Hoban is being made available on loan; Charlton and Rotherham are among the teams linked.

The closest Watford have to a prodigy is Hoban, an assured centre-back who at 21 and four years after his debut has made 54 league appearances, precisely half of those coming last season. That he was such an important part of a promotion-winning squad is testament to his character as well as his ability: Hoban missed a year’s action from February 2013 to February 2014 after sustaining an ankle injury that required surgery. He has also appeared for Ireland at youth and Under-21 levels and, prior to that period on the sidelines, was linked with a number of top clubs. Watford (http://www.theguardian.com/football/watford) have already signed another central defender this summer in Sebastian Prödl, an Austria international, leading Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Charlton among others to attempt to convince Hoban’s employers to allow him to leave on loan, but he certainly has the potential to play in the top flight. SB
These are the types of player we need to blood in or prior to the next campaign. Hoban should've been called up already to be fair.

Connor Smith started and was substituted after 59mins.

well I do believe he is injured as he missed the last U21 set up. So he hasn't been in and around the Watford first team but is in their first team squad. He signed a 4 year contract extension during the summer.
Had a bit of a look and found this (http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/151008-richard-collinge-watford-fc-injury-update-2735060.aspx) from the Watford website earlier this month.
Tommie’s had a problem with his hips and groins. He had surgery in London on Monday and he’s doing really well, everything went to plan. We’ll be looking at around the eight-week mark with him.

linked with a loan move to Charlton, Leeds, Reading and Brentford according to today's Mirror. The article isn't online, but it's mentioned in today's transfer round up on teamtalk: http://www.teamtalk.com/news/paper-talk-pogba-scramble-boufal-wanted-in-england

Hoban was back playing for the Watford reserves against Coventry on Monday night - http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/160304-coventry-city-fc-v-watford-fc-under-21-report-3042486.aspx
There's a short interview with him about it on Watford's site here: http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/160405-hoban-under-21-return-reaction-3044268.aspx
The medical team are in charge of managing how many minutes I’m doing and I’m playing quite carefully. I’ll recover from this, and then see if I'm able to play again for the Under-21s on Thursday.”
He did go play in the game mentioned in the quote above - http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/160407-colchester-united-v-watford-fc-under-21-match-report-3048144.aspx - and came off after 75 minutes

Watford have just signed Kaboul though. You know because he has been so impressive over the last few seasons and clearly has more upside than Hoban.

Who'd have thought it at the start of the season that by mid-September the Blackburn Rovers player to watch from an Irish point of view would be Tommie Hoban? Another start today as Blackburn picked up their first win of the season. Darragh Lenihan got a run-out for the last ten minutes, Jack Byrne was an unused sub, Anthony Stokes wasn't in the squad and Shane Duffy's gone elsewhere. Hoban's form should be monitored closely

Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago in training I ruptured my acl, the surgery went well and the road to recovery starts again now. Been one thing after another the last few years and this time it's been hard to take. But I know I'll come back from this and eventually I'll get to where I wanna be 🙏🏼

Hoban included in the list of 11 Irish players who could go on loan in January in the Independent: https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/11-irish-players-who-could-be-on-the-move-in-january-and-where-they-might-end-up-36446658.html
Jayson Molumby
(Brighton)
One of a number of talented young Irish players in the Premier League who is unlikely to get a run of games at his parent club and may benefit from a loan to a lower club for experience. Depending on commitments to their respective youth teams, clubs could take a punt on Molumby, Conor Masterson (Liverpool), Tyreke Wilson (Manchester City), Marc Walsh (Swansea), Tommy Hoban (Watford), Aaron O'Driscoll (Southampton), Dara O'Shea (West Brom). In the Championship, Leeds pair Eoghan Stokes and Conor Shaughnessy, Wolves' Connor Ronan, Aston Villa teenager Jake Doyle-Hayes and Fulham defender Sean Kavanagh are in similar need of regular games.
Except they misspelled his name and left out that he's recovering from a torn ACL.

lazy. o shea has been out on.loan most of tge season, o shaughnesssy has ben involved with.leeds on the bench all season and started yesterday so he will not be going anywhere and marc walsh is an under 17 player for us who joined swansea in the summer where the hell do they think he would be going?awful stuff

Same with Wilson, think he's only 17. Highly unlikely he's going anywhere

Marc Walsh is only 16, hardly a candidate to go on loan. Joined Swansea from Harps last summer just after his birthday.
Lazy journalism there.

Brutal stuff yeah. Stokes and Kavanagh could do with permanent transfers, to be honest. I don't think they would gain much from a loan. Many of the rest are probably too close to the first team (squad anyways) or else too young to be going on loan. Out of all the names mentioned, I reckon Masterson is the only one a loan would be good for. Molumby and Doyle-Hayes are a bit young and are probably training consistently with the first team at their clubs- next season would be the time for them to move on loan.

I like this little nugget about James McClean's prospects:
"A lower Premier League or Championship club prepared to take the inevitable flak will sign a committed and influential player."
Considering West Brom just moved above Swansea on goal difference to 19th, that doesn't leave much room
