Well done Tets! I thought the site had closed down such has been the lack of activity on here of late!Bloody Sami Hayden particularly needs to up his game!

That's way too much pressure for one man, Gastric... I mean, what can I do? The youth leagues in England are winding down so there's less to report on - after all, I do live in Canada... all my info is gleaned from the web and puffed out with some wildly positive speculation... I'm just blagging it really. Although there were a few goals to take note of today... see other threads

Watford defender Tommie Hoban has today completed a season-long loan move to Aberdeen.
The 24-year-old will spend the 2018/19 campaign with the Scottish Premiership outfit, who are also competing in the Europa League this season, although the Hornets do hold the option on a possible recall in January 2019.
Homegrown centre-half Hoban, a former Republic of Ireland youth international, has made 58 Watford outings in total and has previously spent time on loan with Blackburn Rovers and Wealdstone.

Hoban, who will wear the number 28, goes straight into the Dons squad for tomorrow’s Europa League match against Burnley at Pittodrie.

Have to admit, I'm pretty relieved - when I saw the thread had been bumped, my first reaction was "has he been injured again??"

That's actually very positive to see the recall option in there. Watford know the lad is class and might prove far too good for the SPL, I suspect. Particularly if he get games under his belt. You'd imagine he'd be cruising come January there.

Well I'm not happy. Was hoping to watch him when Warlord play Brentford on Saturday.

The ‘ Warlords ' would be an interesting name for a football club .

So far so good for Hoban at Aberdeen as he gets their goal in a 1-1 draw against Daryl Hogan's Hibernian: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45189005

Has recovered from a torn ACL and hoping to earn a contract soon. Aberdeen were rumoured to be interested in giving him a trial once he recovered

Played as a trialist for Aberdeen yesterday against Hibs, could be announced as a signing before the end of the week, and the start of the new season in Scotland at the weekend
from https://www.afc.co.uk/2020/07/25/pre-season-friendly-news-2/

Tommie Hoban then made an appearance for the Dons as a trialist. Tommie, who has been training at Cormack Park, went into the squad today to act as cover as there are a number of defenders including Michael Devlin on the injured list. The central defender cme through his run out in fine style.

I read an article on Hoban and his trial that said he was close to signing a short term deal with Aberdeen prior to lockdown so it is good to hear that he has picked up where he left off. Hopefully he can get a bit of luck now. He only turned 26 in January but he has only 75 league games played having made his debut 9 years ago.

Manager Derek McInnes poured cold water on Hoban's chances of a permanent deal recently, due to Aberdeen's budget difficulties - we'll see if that's changed soon, I guess: https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/aberdeen-fc/2300942/hoban-returns-to-aberdeen-for-pre-season-training/

He's been afforded a fantastic opportunity for a player who'shad a rotten time with injury.

I really hope it works out for him.

Poor Tommie, can't catch a break He fights his way back from yet another injury to earn a short-term deal and the chance to get his career back on track and what happens? Eight of his Yahoo teammates go to a bar in the middle of a global pandemic when they're supposed to be self-isolating, two of them end up with the virus and now Aberdeen have to postpone at least one game. They should fine them three weeks' wages and use the money to extend Hoban's contract to the end of the year

Nah, I'll bet it's a dump!! These lads were out to make terrible decisions that night and I bet they chose a dump!!

Anyway in good news, Tommie Hoban did finally get his chance to make a comeback and played the full 90 as the Dons beat St. Johnstone - let's hope he can stay fit and have a happier second half to his career: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53618620

Delighted to see him get back in action - went back through the thread and it all started so well - he had such promise, everybody was so enthusiastic about him and then it was injury after injury after injury. So let's hope firstly he stays injury-free for the rest of his career, then builds on his start to get an extended deal at Aberdeen - hopefully that will give him a chance to go on to a good second half of his football playing years and maybe, just maybe, we might see him in a green shirt in a couple of years

O’Leary was a good defender but a clogger from the back with regard to playing out from the back.

Rewatched some old games of Ireland during lockdown 1. O’Leary was like Van Dijk-lite. So quick, read the game so well, excellent tackler, passer of the ball, both short and long, won everything in the air. Honestly, had no idea he was half as good as he was, till I watched them...

Tommie has been let go by Aberdeen.

It's a shame for him, he was pretty much a regular all season for them but a new manager has come in the last few weeks and wants to go a different way, so he hasn't had a new contract offer.

Would imagine he'll get other offers in Scotland if he wants to stay.

That's a pity but hopefully, like you said, another team in Scotland or even a League one or Championship side will take a punt on a player who is clearly talented but has just had rotten luck with injuries

That’s a shock. I know they have been trying to keep him up to now but he seemed to be sizing up his options. He’s had a great year all things considered. Appears to have dipped in form during the latter part of season though which may have cost him. I’m sure he will have no shortage of suitors

I think he retired because he wanted to play at the higuest level possible, and he prefered the scottish league where he could compete in Europe rather than those lower division, i think if he had stayed in Aberdeen he wouldnt had retired tbh , but that is my opinion
